I do hvac and use snips on the daily. These snips would be good for home use but anytime I’ve bought a pair of crescent snips I’ve always had to tighten the bolt holding the snips together making a gap between the snips causing it to cut the metal crooked. Anytime I’ve tightened them they always come loose and recently I bought a new pair of these snips and within maybe 6 or 7 cuts the snips completely sheared and couldn’t even handle cutting some duct.

I needed an offset pair of snips to install decorative metal backsplash. These were better than expected. I could accurately trim 1/32" with ease. I've got 5 pair of aviation snips and these are now my favorite.

Baitman, In the Wiss brand, we offer the left cut (red handles) in a 9-3/4 inch length which is the standard version of the snip. The 9-1/4 inch length version features an offset jaw which is designed to keep your hand above the cutting material during use. Both items are available in Home Depot stores, however, stock sometimes varies by location.

I have never owned a pair of offset metal snips and now I wonder, "Why not?" These snips from Crescent/Wiss, an established and reputable brand name, make complex cuts much easier to accomplish.
In the past, I have made cuts and had parts of the metal I was snipping get in the way as I move across the cut line. The design of this tool allows the user to cut through the project without that difficulty. I tried cutting straight cuts, cuts through an irregular surface (like a rain gutter), cuts with rounded corners and a circular cut started with a pilot hole. All challenges produced excellent, professional-looking results. You can get snips with blades designed for either right-hand or left-hand radii if your project needs this level of precision.
One of the best parts of this tool is it is made in the USA!! Thank you Crescent/Wiss for making this excellent tool.
Be sure to use proper safety measures when working with sheet metal. Edges are very sharp!!

These M8 offset snips make cutting material so much easier as you're able to hold the snips at a more natural angle.
The hardened serrated blades slice through metal with ease. These snips are rated to cut up to 18 gauge steel. That's pretty darn thick for hand-held snips!
I currently own a Wiss green pair, a yellow pair (straight cut) and have had them for ever. Wiss snips are pretty dang sturdy and gets the job done.
These offset snips will find a nice home next to its buddies on the workshop wall!

Cutting broad swaths or sheets of metal can be a challenge because there is no easy way to “steer” the cutting tip when the surrounding metal surface gets in the way of the snip handles. That’s why I love this snip. The flat surface of the cutting tip (see picture) supports one side of the metal surface, allowing room for your hand to navigate the snips in a straight direction. The cutter is sharp enough to cut a medium duty metal strip too (see picture), eliminating the need to use a hack saw. I like that convenience and speed.
The plastic encased handles make it comfortable to grip, even with damp or wet hands and the use of bolt/screw fasteners at the jaw assembly make it possible to keep the cutters tightly aligned with each other. There is even a small molded hole molded into one of the handle grips for storing the tool on a peg, screw or nail.
This is a low-cost solution to challenging jobs. I would recommend this snip to a friend.

This is an excellent quality pair of offset snips. I own other Wiss hand tools, which I have used for years. Based on my experience, Wiss tools are durable and their quality is consistently very good. These snips are very easy to use. The blades are sharp and require little effort to cut sheet metal. Serrations on the blade help to prevent slippage. Other snips that I have used would bend and slip, and not make clean, straight cuts, especially with heavy sheet metal material. The yellow handle provides high visibility for locating the snips in the tool box, and is comfortable. A hanger is molded into the end of the grip.

9-1/4 in. Metalmaster Offset Snips
I remember growing up with Wiss scissors in our home which never wore out! I chose these snips not only because of them coming from an American company, but also because the J. Wiss Company has a customer satisfaction rating of over 90%. We love the quality and they cut perfectly, while allowing me full control on a curve. One blade has tiny serrated teeth, which prevents slipping while I work. The grip is comfortable, and I especially like the round tab with a hole, so I can easily hang it on a peg in the tool shed.

Very comfortable snips to use and the cutting is smooth and easy! My electrician was at my house when I received these snips and he used them to show me how easily this cuts through sheet metal (up to 18 gauge). I was very surprised that hardly any effort was used to cut metal. I'm a small woman and I was able to cut through metal like it was butter and it wasn't too big and bulky in my hand.
It has a unique total system design that requires 20% less force to cut. The total height of this tool is 11 inches. Blade length is 1.5" The handle material is rubber. You can easily make straight and curved cuts through many materials.
I'm growing my collection of hand tools as I tackle more DIY projects and I wish I would have had this tool years ago! This would have been perfect for curved cuts on my vinyl floor planks that I installed a couple of years ago. I highly recommend these snips!

Wiss metal (aviation) snips are known for their quality workmanship; and most are made in USA. While I have had Wiss snips in my workshop for several years, I also have some hand-me-downs that have been around for over 50 years. Making straight cuts of fairly thin sheetmetal with very old snips is still doable.
However, Wiss has employed technology to make cutting curves in 18 gauge steel achievable with little effort while staying on the line.
Wiss makes it easy to determine which ones are needed for a particular job. The handles are color-coded; and the package lists the gauge intended for, as well as left, right, or straight cut.

The Wiss 9-1/4 inch metal master offset aviation snips are well made. They have a comfortable molded handle that is a non-slip grip, and the offset cutter keeps your hands clear of the metal. There is a safety latch on the body to keep the cutter locked in the closed position and a hanging loop built into the handle end. The precision built performance includes a 4X spring life and a 6X pivot bolt life. Made in the USA!

This product works really well- I used it for several projects already. One was to cut sheet metal for a screen door, the other was the cut chicken wire for a garden box. It cuts like butter and is really easy to handle!

They're a tad behind Midwest on sharpness but cut in tight spaces just as well as Midwest. Both brands are better then Malco snips and more cost effective from my experience.
