I cannot say more strongly that this is by far and away the best product I have ever used for bathroom wall tile or kitchen wall tile. It can dry out quick, but it is strong and so much better than the AcrylPro pre-mixed stuff. I had 20 tiles pop off from that stuff and it had been sitting for 48 hours so no excuse. I would use the Versabond product any day for tile mortar!

Never had a problem with this mortar bonding to durock, Hardie board, mold resistant drywall or right over the concrete floor. Easy to mix and work with. Recommend to mix in small batches because product dries quickly. Fresh mortar cleans easily from tile. When dry, it's easy to scrape off with painter's scraper. Excellent adhesion to previously mentioned substrates. Tiles installed with this mortar 15 years ago are still solid!!!

I always use white VersaBond. Why use grey, just to save 1.50. Grey is a lot more clean up. Especially if you have light grout or setting porous stone or Saltillo tile. You can't go wrong with White VersaBond.

I've been using Versabond for years and I'm just a DIY doing things at home. Just finished a project of tile on a countertop. All I have to do now is the grout and I'm done. I'm attaching a picture of the project.

This is the same color as or darker than the Hardie Board it was used on. Not close to white. This is the first time ever having a problem. But not having done tile since before 2020 if this is the new standard I’m disappointed.

Used it for 9" porcelain hex tiles on liquid self-leveler for a basement bathroom. So far, so good.

once again Custom and it's product have failed. I've been installing tile for 25 years and can't begin to explain how disappointed I am. I have tiles falling of the wall and this is the second time. I feel like anyone that uses this product is going to have problems.

With all the beautiful selections the only hard choice was picking. Home Depot's amazing sales and product reviews helped me with my tile selection. Materials were readily available and staff provided how-to instructions as well as provided DIY videos.

Good texture, bonds to nearly all floor ready surfaces. Low odor, good color of white.

Had to redo a tile project after the tiles cracked. This mortar was still wet. Mind you. The tike has been here for TWO YEARS. It never set up.

It went well and set fast.

Works great but found out mixing a whole bag causes the product to setup quickly. I had 200 sq ft of tile to set and it dried out on me a little over 1/3 of the floor. Mixed 1/3 of the next bag and another 1/3 which gave me enough working time for the tiles I had left.

I used this product as a DIY for a large basement tile project where I installed 12in porcelain tiles directly to the concrete subfloor. After much research I determined this product is the best value for my application, although it required a bit more careful prep work. I applied a small amount of the thinset to the subfloor and back of the tiles, then used the flat edge of the trowel on an angle to 'burn in' the thinset (use force and a motion like you are trying to squeegee the material off). this forces the thinset into the micropockets and greatly enhances adhesion (also known as back buttering the tiles and floor). I am very confident in the bond strength, after 12 hours I had cracked one corner tile and had to chisel-off the material and it came off in chunks on the back of the perfect tile (a poor bond would allow the tile to just pop right off).

I was using this for DIY needs, so I was making smaller batches that I could work with. The bag instructions are for mixing a whole batch, so I found some videos on general thinset mixing tips. This mixed easily, I got it to a peanut butter consistency and I haven't had any issues with bond strength. Just make sure you're using the recommended trowel for each application. Depth of notches matter - if it's too shallow you can have poor coverage and it will not bond adequately. This is not an issue with the thinset, but the application of it. I found I had about an hour to apply it after I mixed it. My technique definitely got better over time and I was able to mix slightly larger batches as I went. I used this for a couple different applications: Ditra floor membrane over plywood USG membrane over cement board 5x10 tile and mosaic tile over USG membrane Marble thresholds over USG membrane for shower curb It worked great in all the applications and everything has held up going on two months after the final tile was installed. Very pleased with this thinset overall.

This is the best thin set I've used so far. Been using it for about 20 years. It mixes well and is great at holding tiles in place. I've used it on floors and in showers

Perfect for home project on tile work.

After everything dried my shower looked like it was done by a 5 yr old!! Seversl tiles throughout the shower were sunk in. Now everything needs to be removed and retiled at $70 a box for tile. Tiles taken off had nothing on the back ever though each one was butter!!!. DO NOT USE THIS.
