I have not had a chance to test its effectiveness as a mosquito repellent yet as it is winter hear in Washington state, mosquitoes aren’t really a problem yet. One main issue is that when you use the handle with the lid on the handle pops off the lis lld when the candle bucket is carried. I was able to bend the handle and fix it. The directions are on the bottom of the bucket, be mindful that if you turn the bucket over to read the directions the candle can slide out if the lid or your hand is not blocking it. The scent of this candle is very strong and one that I don’t find particularly pleasant. The directions say to keep within 3 feet, I hope the scent does not ruin the campsite experience. Maybe if the mosquitoes are worse than the scent it would be worth it. I do like the metal bucket idea and when the lid is on the smell is well contained.
We have a huge mosquito problem here in Georgia, so I purchased this for the table on the back porch. I had a company spray for mosquitoes last year, but it didn't seem to do much good because the neighbors don't spray. I tried some other devices that you hang from trees limbs and hose failed. The candles do a good job in a small area. I plan to buy a couple more in the spring and summer so I can finally enjoy the outdoors again.
Pros: Durable, Functionality, Great Quality, Multi Use, smells good
This is a great smelling candle packaged in a a very sturdy “pail”. The citronella smell is strong and pleasant. The container is very sturdy and it even has a wire loop, so you can hang it. I will assume that it really works well. The problem is it would be hard to test right now. This is February and I’m in the Cleveland Ohio region. 20 degree temperatures are not ideal for testing on effectiveness of keeping mosquitoes away. When the weather warms up, I can update.
Citro Guard 17 oz. Candle in Tan Model # HG-95783-8
This candle has a amazing smell to it, even when it is not burning, I like how this candle can easily be transported, and that it keeps the bugs away, so I can enjoy a evening in the backyard. Furthermore, I like that this candle can burn up to 30 hours , also the container , is very sturdy , with a handle .
Burnished holder looks a little better than other versions to sit out on the deck. Convenient wire handle can be used to hang the candle if desired. The wax level is down inside the bucket but I think that helps it keep burning in a small wind without blowing out.
Overall adds some localized protection from bugs and allows us to sit outside without spraying up.
Living in Colorado we have a short season for mosquitoes and such, but during spring and summer we have to be on the lookout. As probably anywhere there is the potential for West Nile virus. I've used this before over the years and it works very good, of course if there is a breeze you'll have to position for best effect. This container runs up to 30 hours according to the can info. I wouldn't recommend moving it while lit of course, because you could get burnt.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Install, Functionality, Great Quality, Stylish
Nicely packaged product with a lid too to keep pets and kids out (or ashes for an oblivious bbq guest?)
I’ve used Citronella candles before but not this particular brand. I do like that the candle itself it’s lightly scented and not overwhelmingly chemical smelling. It’s still a little chilly in Oregon so haven’t rested it out against the mosquito masses yet, but for now it’s looking sharp on our patio table and an added bonus of the lid is keeping out moisture while the candle lives out on our covered porch.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Install, Functionality, Great Quality, Sharp, Stylish
This 17oz citronella candle is pure awesome! Small enough to stuff in a backpack and take with you hiking, and large enough to provide a huge coverage area repelling bugs, insects, and most importantly, mosquitoes! Metal tin canister with metal loop handle make it sturdy and the ability to hang from objects. I must warn you that this is some strong citronella oil! I received this in some thick plastic packaging, and you can smell it through the bag. LOL This is simply great stuff to have.
The Cutter Citro Guard Candle works great. I burns evenly and doesn't smell bad either. Come in a small metal bucket with handle and lid. You want to make sure you remove the label from the front of the cannister before you start burning it. There are instruction on the label telling you this. I have an outdoor patio and work shop so I purchase 3 at a time. They work very well keeping away mosquitoes and flies while I cook and work outside.
Pros: Great Quality, Strong
Cons: the handle on the container is not attached well
Received this Citro Guard Candle today from Home Depot. The candle is a good size and smells very good. I have used mosquito sprays in the past but for now on I will be purchasing these candles. The container has a handle for easy caring or easily able to hook on a hiking backpack. It has alot of wax inside for burning and should last a very long time hopefully a full summer if not longer. This be a great addition to my camping gear and Gazebo in my back yard.
Pros: Functionality, Good Shape, Great Quality, Strong
