Rubber washer ontop! "convenient"= available in stores. Yes, all of it is plastic. If you want metal, special order it online for $30-60. If it peels, you can buy another cap for $5-6 every few years. Plastic is kinda thin so don't overtighten.

After couple months of usage. The paint still chipping off... And reveal the plastic underneath... Very disappointed why do I pay extra for just some paint that won't even stay on??

When dishwasher is installed next to the kitchen sink the water supply to the dishwasher as well as the water discharged form it are connected under the sink. The discharge line from the bottom of the dishwasher is then looped as high as possible under the kitchen sink and then connected to the drain. This helps prevent back flow of drain into the dishwasher. The better way to prevent the back flow is to use this air gap. The air gap installation requires that your counter top has a hole drilled into it. Installation is pretty easy. The dishwasher hose connection is 5/8" and the disposal hose connection is 7/8" to make a fool-proof connection.

The 7/8 inch dishwasher air gap by Danco is great. The installation was easy, just had to make the connections to the dishwasher hose and garbage disposal hose. The connection hose to garbage disposal is thick and hard to curve but managed to make it fit. Installing the air gap is straight forward feed it from the bottom of the sink and screw the nut onto it. I added some plumbers putty around it in the sink opening. Then place the brushed nickel cap on the air gap and push it down to the base.

I LIKE ITS DESIGN AND IT MAKES FOR A SIMPLE INSTALLATION. INCLUDED ARE VERY CLEAR DETAILED INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. THIS WILL REQUIRE A MODERATE AMOUNT OF PLUMBING EXPERIENCE . GETTING TO YOUR AIR GAP MAY BE THE HARDEST PART OF YOUR PROJECT.

Excellent air gap. Ours had a clog and when I took it out, I decided to just replace the whole air gap and the hose(which I recommend) This is a basic one and it works very well. Remember to face the opening toward the sink so if there is ever a clog it'll discharge it to the sink and not onto the counter top. Instructions are well laid out and quite easy to understand. Tighten is securely to the counter top so water never leaks into your cabinets and ruin it.

Best quality Air Gap for the price.It is a very nice and good quality replacement Air Gap in the event you need one. The DANCO Air Cap is a must have part in the plumbing of Dishwasher which will protect you from sewage flowing back into the dishwasher..The technology is great,which will save you from potential health hazards. Product was easy to install and worked perfectly fine with no issues. It’s better cause it fits modern sinks and easier to install.

This is the first time I replaced the dishwasher air gap House was built in O2 22 years later first time we having to replace so the quality is really good that's why I got the same one that came with the house years ago

It’s an air gap that was needed didn’t like the plastic cover tossed it out and kept my old made of metal.

“Chrome” cap is really plastic! ?? It was the only Air Gap available. I was so disappointed. I don’t believe the bright work will last with regular cleaning.
