TOTALLY USELESS "SEALANT"!
I applied this all around my year-old window where it meets the exterior stucco frame, but when it rained the next day water poured down the top of the window below it. Two days later, a leak specialist pointed out gaps -- as if I had never caulked the window at all because the so-called sealant had shrunk. This is despite one of the product pictures saying: "Early 1 hour rain resistance without the sealant washing out or getting damaged with permanent rain marks." Home Depot gave me a full refund, but this product should be pulled from shelves for making false claims.

Thank you for posting your feedback. We are sorry to see your low star review on DAP Dynaflex Ultra Advanced Window Door and Siding Sealant. As DYNAFLEX ULTRA is a water based (acrylic latex) formula, the sole drying mechanism is the evaporation of water. Dry time can be significantly impacted by cool or humid application conditions, application to damp surfaces, applications where air contact is limited or by thick (deep) applications of the sealant. Because you did not provide any details regarding your attempted application, such as bead size, application conditions or application technique, it is difficult to provide you with a more detailed response or specific product usage guidance in this format. At your convenience, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477 so that we can obtain some additional information from you regarding your experience and to provide some additional application guidance. Not paintable
We caulked some expensive door trim with this and it will not hold paint. I thought my guys grabed silicone to caulk with because the result is almost identical. It seems like a very good caulk but if you have to paint it, forget it.

      Failed
18 hours to cure and then failed miserably. Significant flooding in some areas while the product worked in others. Yet there was no variance in the structure.

Dynaflex sealant used for door install
I snagged this sealant specifically for my DIY prehung door install. Applying it was a breeze, even for a non-pro like me, and it sealed up those gaps around the frame like a charm. Definitely gets the job done. Two thumbs up from this happy homeowner!

          Worst ever
Four days after it has not fully dried yet. And that’s outside at about 85 grades Fahrenheit. Let alone in the inside where it is almost as it came out of the tube. This is the crappiest product I’ve ever used.

Thank you for posting your feedback. We are sorry to see your low star review on DAP Dynaflex Ultra Premium Window Door & Siding Sealant. DAP DYNAFLEX ULTRA is a water-based/acrylic-latex formula, accordingly, the sole drying mechanism is the evaporation of water. Dry time can be significantly impacted by cool or humid application conditions or by thick (deep) applications of the sealant. As is the case with all water-based products, they must be applied within temperature range, to dry surfaces and should be applied when humidity is low to moderate. As indicated on the product package label and supporting product literature: “Do not apply when freezing temperatures are forecasted within 24 hours. Cooler temperatures and higher humidity will slow down dry time.” Application outside of these conditions will lead to long dry times and slow performance development. Because you did not provide any details regarding your application, such as application surfaces/conditions, bead size, temperature, humidity, or your application technique, it is difficult to provide you with a more detailed reply or any specific product usage guidance in this format. Grew black mold after 3 months
Do not buy this item. It's guarantees that there will be no mold algae or mildew for a lifetime. In this case a lifetime is 3 months.

Thank you for posting your feedback. We are sorry to see your low star review on DAP Dynaflex Ultra Window Door Trim and Siding Sealant. Based on the short interval between the application of the sealant and the appearance (of what is assumed to be biological growth) there is a high likelihood that the application surface had biological contamination (mold/mildew) present at the time of application. Of note, these sealants cannot not directly support the growth of mold/mildew, however mold/mildew can develop from underneath the applied sealant (prior surface contamination) or over the applied sealant (by way of secondary films, such as oils, and other organic contaminants). If you are dissatisfied with your purchase, the product may be returned to the point of purchase or returned directly to DAP for a refund of your purchase price. Instructions for this process can be found on the product package. Should you have any additional questions or require further assistance, please free to contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477. DAP
I used this on a dog house that I participated in carpentry finishing work. It created the depth I was hoping for on the dog house and added to the flesh seal sealant I painted on the wood!

              Terrible experience with this
Goes on white and dries clear...NO. I applied this stuff between my patio room aluminum and adjourning deck board. 1/8"-1/4" gap in a 16' seam. Label said raintight in 3 hours. Well, it rained 8 hours later, and the stuff actually ran all over my deck board, bled down to the level below staining my paver blocks white. None if it ever turned clear after 2 weeks. Very disappointed in this product. Don't quite know how I'm going to fix this or remove the staining on areas it ran to.

Thank you for posting your feedback. We are sorry to see your low star review on DAP Dynaflex Ultra-Premium Window and Door Sealant. DAP DYNAFLEX ULTRA is an acrylic-latex (water-based) formula (it does not "cure" chemically). The sole drying mechanism is the evaporation of water. Dry time can be significantly impacted by cool or humid application conditions, moisture in the application surfaces or by thick (deep) applications of the sealant. While it is typically "rain ready and paint ready" (surface dry) in 1 hour, full dry through can take 24 hours and longer. When more challenging applications are present or faster through cure times are required, DAP would recommend that you consider our line of fast cure sealants, such as DAP AMP Advanced Modified Polymer All Weather Window, Door and Siding Sealant. DAP AMP Advanced Modified Polymer All Weather Window, Door and Siding Sealant will be surface dry and ready for paint in approximately 30 minutes and through cured in 24 hours, even in cooler and/or more humid application conditions. Of note, DAP AMP Advanced Modified Polymer All Weather Window, Door and Siding Sealant and similar fast cure sealants require solvent (mineral spirits/paint thinner) for clean-up. Should you have any additional questions or require assistance, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477. DAP

I needed to fill gaps in a "lending library" box I built to ensure moisture did not get inside the structure. Application was easy and did the job. It also blended well with the recycled cedar fence boards used in the project.

                great for windows
best caulk out there for windows. Great adhesion and did not shrink so only needed one application even on gaps greater than 1/4". Will definitely be using again for other window and door projects.

                  Worst silicon ever
I've used all kinds of silicones over the years when a product says tact time 30 minutes I expect it at maybe 70°. The tax time on this was beyond three days when I applied it it was 70° for nearly 6 hours more than enough time for it to tack up good 48 hours later and it was still as wet as I put it on it did not start packing until at least 72 hours later. And the mess that it made is ridiculous I will never purchase this product ever again.

Thank you for posting your feedback. We are sorry to see your low star review on DAP Dynaflex Ultra Premium Window Door Trim and Siding Sealant. This product is not a silicone as stated in your commentary. In addition, you appear to be comparing an acrylic-latex/water-based formula (DYNAFLEX ULTRA) to a chemically cured/neutral curing silicone formula. These products are fundamentally very different in both chemistry as well as performance characteristics. The comparable DAP formula would be DAP SILICONE MAX Premium All Purpose 100% Silicone Sealant. DYNAFLEX ULTRA is an acrylic-latex (water-based) formula and as such, the sole drying mechanism is the evaporation of water. Dry time can be significantly impacted by cool or humid/damp application conditions and/or by thick (deep) applications of the sealant. As indicated on the product package label and supporting product literature: "Apply in temperatures above 40°F. Do not apply when freezing temperatures are forecasted within 24 hours. Cooler temperatures and higher humidity will slow down dry time.", "Rain Ready and Paintable in one hour (depending on joint depth, temperature and humidity)" and Full Dry Through (Time): 24 Hours." Product applied outside of these recommendations will not perform as designed. I saw that this was popular with a majority of positive reviews. Unfortunately disappointed. I needed a clear silicone for a cold frame with polyurethane double wall windows. I bought a few tubes “clearly” marked CLEAR but it is WHITE. Why would DAP advertise as clear? It also has been two days, no rain, but the caulk is still not totally dry. I’ve had much better luck with other DAP caulks. I cannot recommend it.

Thank you for posting your feedback. We are sorry to see your low star review on DAP Dynaflex Ultra Premium Window Door and Siding Sealant. Per product package label and supporting product literature: Sealant applies white and dries clear in 7-14 days (depending on joint depth, temperature and humidity). Additionally, DAP Dynaflex Ultra is not a silicone, nor is it designed, tested, or recommended for glazing applications. DAP offers specialty window glazing compounds for this type of application. The use of any other product for glazing application would constitute an off-label use (misapplication). Should you have any additional questions or wish to discuss this further, please free to contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477. DAP

                    Does not last
I worked extremely hard preparing to paint my house 2 years ago. I caulked every single seam on the exterior of my house. Now the expensive paint that I used has come off of the caulk and the caulk is shrinking and peeling away. In most places it doesn't even look like I applied caulk to my house. I am now going to have to go back and recaulk the entire house and repaint.

Thank you for posting your feedback, we’re sorry to see your low star review on DAP DYNAFLEX ULTRA. We are not clear as to your commentary indicating: “the expensive paint that I used has come off of the caulk”, as you appear to be describing/your photographs appear to depict a performance issue with the paint that was used. In applications where low flexibility paints are applied over more flexible materials (such as caulking compounds), cracking may result when the paint is not able to flex to the same degree as the underlying sealant. Likewise, “shrinking” is not possible once the product is fully cured. Because you did not provide any details regarding your application surfaces, application conditions, application technique or the paints/coating you applied, it is difficult to provide you with a more detailed response or product usage guidance in this format. Excellent adhesion, fast curing and expansion, I know its not good for deck joints but I used it on a composite deck that has a very low expansion ratio and worked marvelous, yet to see durability under humidity (summer) and frozen temperatures (winter) but so far its working great

I'll never know if it's good because it was already dry and opaque in the tube and barely flowed out afger cutting the tip. Supposed to be clear, but this batch came out as a pasty white almost crumbly clay.

Thank you for posting your feedback, we're sorry to see your low star review on DAP DYNAFLEX ULTRA (CLEAR). As you have described multiple issues; accordingly, we have responded to them in order. With respect your commentary indicating: “already dry and opaque in the tube”. As indicated on the DAP DYNAFLEX ULTRA (CLEAR) product package label and supporting product literature, under label section: “FOR BEST RESULTS: SEALANT APPLIES WHITE & DRIES CLEAR IN 7-14 DAYS” and again under label section: “INSTRUCTIONS: SEALANT APPLIES WHITE & DRIES CLEAR IN 7-14 DAYS DEPENDING ON JOINT DEPTH, TEMPERATURE & HUMIDITY." All of DAP's (CLEAR) acrylic-latex (water-based) sealants will function this way and are labeled accordingly with the information found above, regarding this color changing performance characteristic. None of DAP’s (CLEAR) acrylic-latex (water-based) sealants can be both opaque (white) and dry at the same time (no chemically/physically possible). With respect your commentary indicating: “barely flowed out afger cutting the tip”, cutting the plastic nozzle tip is only the first of a two-step operation to "open" the cartridge. As indicated on the product package label guidance: "2. Cut nozzle at a 45º angle to desired bead size. 3. Puncture inner foil seal.” Failure to puncture the inner foil seal (Step #3) will not permit the product the flow from the application tip as intended. Should you have any additional questions or require assistance, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477. If you would like to verify the age of the material, when calling in please be sure to have the package available, as we will need the production code printed on the package in order to determine the date of manufacture. miserable failure
I caulked a penetration where HVAC lines left my house. The caulk came out white, I put most of the tube in. Everything was within the application specs on the side. It rained about four hours after I put the caulk on, it claims to be rain-fast in two hours. I came back the next day to screw the shroud back on, and saw the caulk had completely run, leaving huge gaps. It was still as wet as it came out of the tube. Even the left overs on the outside of the tube, which were in a dry basement, were still wet/tacky. I double checked I bought clear, it was still completely white. As you can see in the image, even after squeezing the caulk thin, it is white. Last time I save money and settle for a DAP product for $1 less.

DYNAFLEX ULTRA is a water-based (acrylic-latex) formula, the sole drying mechanism is the evaporation of water. Dry time can be significantly impacted by cool or humid application conditions, moisture in the application surfaces, by thick (deep) applications or entrapped application (application into a cavity and/or between surfaces that water cannot pass through). Given your commentary indicating: “I caulked a penetration where HVAC lines left my house” and "I put most of the tube in", it would appear to indicate that the product was not applied in accordance with: “Joint size should not exceed 1" wide by 1/2" deep. For joints deeper than 1/2", use foam backer rod material.” With respect your commentary indicating: “I double checked I bought clear, it was still completely white.”, as indicated on the product package label guidance: "SEALANT APPLIES WHITE & DRIES CLEAR IN 7-14 DAYS. Dynaflex never disappoints my projects
I purchased this product from Home Depot as I wanted to compare this improved version of Dynaflex against my usual go-to caulk/sealant, which is DAP Dynaflex 230. This particular project involved sealing the perimeter slab concrete flooring of my unfinished basement and the perimeter of the flooring slab in my attached garage. There were also some touch-up places that needed resealing on my vinyl siding where there are penetrations by pipes and electrical wiring. I think it's a big selling point for this product, to come in at least 10 different colors - which are color matched to various manufacturers colored building products. Normally, Dynaflex 230 would be my top pick - but the newer Ultra variety seems to claim it is better at standing up to the elements. Let's see what we found: PACKAGING: Standard 10.1oz caulk tube. There is no inner foil seal to pierce once you cut the end off of the tube. This is a plus if you want to run a very fine bead of the product. MADE IN / ASSEMBLED IN: This product is made in the USA (primarily in Maryland) with US and globally sourced materials. QUALITY: This product is of outstanding quality and has a lot of features that are desirable, especially for those using it on exterior projects. It resists UV fading (unlike most clear silicone sealants) and dirt build-up (unlike almost all silicone sealants), claims to be crack-proof, claims mold/mildew/algae resistance, is 1hr rain and paint ready, can be used on both interior and exterior projects (which is a plus and true due to the very low to no VOC release), adheres to a wide variety of substrates, and claims a 35% joint movement tolerance. MAINTENANCE: No special maintenance is required. Cured sealant handles light washing very well. TEST RESULTS: Overall, this is the quality I have come to expect from the Dynaflex line of products. When it comes to tooling the product, the Dynaflex 230 is far easier to tool than the Ultra. The 7-14 day cure time seems excessive for a water-based product, however it is true that it takes this long for it to fully harden and provide that 'hardened shell' feel. I've always taken exception to the 1hr paint-ready claim. Why would you want to paint a product after an hour that takes 7-14 days to cure? I'd rather wait until it's cured to paint it - if possible. The Ultra will not cover gaps as wide as the Dynaflex 230 will. This Ultra is not meant for gaps wider that 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch wide/deep. You'll need to use backer rod if you're caulking anything deeper. So both the 230 and the Ultra are great products. I must say, that for exterior applications - the Ultra is the better product. The 230 is a close second but certainly a better choice for use as a painter's caulk - which is what I primarily use it for.

Had a rotted step at the bottom of the sliding door to our deck. Found out it rotted the step, the lowest siding board, bottom of 4 vertical trim boards, and two deck boards. After everything was replaced, I used a couple tubes of DAP sealant. Has to be paintable(not done yet!), clear, and flexible since Colorado weather is rough on wood. Everything is waterproof after the couple inches of snow we had so far. I'll be painting the back door this spring, so will have to update how the sealant accepts the paint.

Never had a DAP product that I would consider defective, until now
This was a fresh, new tube I purchased just a few weeks back from HD. When I opened the tube and began using it, instead of caulk, I got a big puddle of clear watery goop, with chunks of caulk in it. After cleaning up that mess, I squeezed out a few more tablespoons of that goop until I reached “real” caulk; but even that was lumpy and inconsistent, and wouldn’t make a smooth bead. Attached is a photo of the clear goopy mess on a piece of scrap. Very disappointing, DAP.

I used this to install a weather seat in the trunk of an old car I’m restoring. It’s a little thin and runny but I got used to applying it. Sealed perfectly and no more water leaks!

The color is off, it’s more of a charcoal black not the color of the tip as expected.

I bought this to caulk around a new window inside and out because it is paintable. All surfaces were cleaned before the caulk was applied and two days after it was applied I painted around the inside with latex paint. I found the paint was "dragging" the caulk making little balls in the paint. Its WeatherMax Technology claims to resist dirt build up, but after two days I can see dirt building up on it. It may be difficult to see in the attached picture, but it is there. I would not be surprised at all that in a short time I will be scraping it off on the outside and redoing it with silicone.
