Really nice mud knife! The handle is very soft and comfortable in my hand, yet it still feels very sturdy and well attached to the blade. The blade finish is very smooth and the knife edge is perfectly straight with no imperfections. There is a good amount of flex in the blade to allow you to push your mud where you need it to go. I'm not sure how well the "blue steel" finish will hold up, it almost feels like a plastic or rubber coating on the steel, only time will tell.
Overall i'm impressed with the build quality and think the only thing to watch out for is that blue steel finish and its durability.

. I selected this taping knife for two reasons---1. I wanted to try a 12" knife for a long time.2. The soft grip handle excited my curiosity. I have wanted a 12" taping knife for a long time, but was hesitant to buy it because I thought it may too cumbersome to use. This knife actually surprised me as to how easy it is to use!! The soft grip handle makes it as easy to control as some of my 8" knives. That fact may also be contributed to the balance of the knife. I really enjoy using the knife and I can feather out my joint to look so much better.

The Dewalt 12 inch blue steel hammer-end taping knife was first used to finish my working shed in my backyard. It is made of high quality steel with the right amount of flex that should last a lifetime. The grip is made to fit in hand so it will not cause any fatigue. I have used other brands and they seem to not last that long after a few times using the tool.
Blue steel blade is protected with lacquer to prevent oxidation/rust. So once the lacquer starts to wear off you’ll need to protect the surface after each use by applying a light coat oil or WD40. It has a soft grip and comfortable handle. The end of the handle is made of an alloy metal so you can use it to reset drywall nails if needed. The blade seems flexible for feathering your compound.
Easy to Clean, Easy to Use, Easy to Work With, Great Value
