The tile is beautiful, but very hard to install and it sure does not install in one day as advertised. Tile breaks easily and you try to lock them together. Good thought but not built well.

We apologize for the complications you had with the installation and appreciate your feedback. We offer our toll-free customer assistance line for anyone having difficulties during installation. You do not say how the breakage occurred. The tiles are difficult to break unless dropped. If chipping on the edges, this is normally not a problem unless you were tapping directly on the tile. NEVER HAMMER OR TAP DIRECTLY ON TILE. Use a two-headed hard plastic hammer and a click floor tapping block. If against a wall, use a pullbar (note: wrap the end of the pullbar with tape to prevent chipping). If the tiles are breaking during cutting, we can help you with that. Here are some common suggestions we make that can help out those having installation difficulties:
- Making sure your subfloor is clean, smooth and dead-flat is one of the best things you can do to ensure an easy installation.
- Be sure your starting rows are as straight as possible. It is very common for walls to snake in and out which can make the first 2 rows of any click flooring difficult. So line up the tiles with themselves, do not try to follow a curvy wall.
- Be sure to use the “guide piece” every time when connecting tile end-to-end. (Instructions page 2, sec. 10).

Great for a square room with level floors
We've been laying this tile for 5 days now in an old house remodel that had very uneven floors to start with. The floors were leveled as much as possible but still had some variation. The tile is very simple to install as long as your floors are very level and you dont need to make many cuts to go around door openings, etc. Getting near walls and trying to snap this stuff together in tight spaces is an absolute nightmare. What may take 30 minutes to install with traditional thinset tile takes 4 times longer with this. If the floors arent perfectly level you will hear cracking of the tongue and grooves as you walk across it afterwords. When we purchased this at a local flooring store the salesperson said "it hasnt caught on with contractors." I now know why. Total garbage.

: Hello Homer, we appreciate you selecting QuicTile for your project and sincerely apologize for your frustration during installation. Our patented system has gone through rigorous rounds of testing to ensure quality and performance of the tile as well as the accessory materials – and that system needs a flat floor. However, for many this is a tradeoff for not having to go through the mudded floor process. We realize your installation is complete, but had you contacted us during the process, here are some suggestions we might have made:
- Regarding trying to click around corners: QuicTile can be installed flat (no swiveling in) and tapped in with the pullbar. For many this is easier than angle clicking in the piece.
- Regarding the unlevel subfloor: That is a requirement with any click flooring, however the “cracking” you hear is a concern if it is the subfloor moving or just the tile. Like with traditional tile, we would assist you differently in either way.
- Regarding contractors: As this is a new method and system, some embrace it and some prefer the traditional way. We at DalTile supply & support both areas.

    Horrible tile.
While this is gorgeous to look at, the click tiles are very hard to install. They do not click together easily. It took us 4 hours to install 10 tiles. We ended up ripping it up and buying a traditional porcelain tile. Do not recommend.

Hello, DIY Dad. Thank you for your feedback and we sincerely apologize for any frustration during installation. Our patented system has gone through rigorous rounds of testing to ensure quality and performance of the tile as well as the accessory materials – and that system needs a flat subfloor. The grout problems were likely directly linked to the subfloor issue. An unlevel subfloor can cause the tile to move during and after installation, causing the newly drying grout to break apart and fail. If you are having trouble getting the QuicTile to lay flat, please call us to help you work through the problem. Love the finished look and the color is perfect! The texture for a bathroom floor is great. But cutting and fitting the tile is a bit of a hassle. You have to use a manual saw and snap the tile to get an edge. If you make a cut around the door frame, or a corner cut you need a wet saw which makes the backing come off of the tile

Hello William, we appreciate you selecting QuicTile for your project and are delighted to hear you are pleased with your end result! It can also be installed with some of the edges broken off, see instructions for details. We appreciate your feedback. This product is made for both professionals and DIYers due to the simplicity of the process, however we offer our toll-free customer service line for anyone having difficulties during installation. If you contact us, we can assist you with figuring out why it cracked and to help fix that. Suggestions for those perhaps experiencing some of the same things you were, is that if grout lines are cracking, check that the flatness of your subfloor surface meets the specs listed in page 1 of the instructions. Waiting a full 24 hours prior to light foot traffic helps too.

It sounds like the floor clicked together well, but if the subfloor is not flat, the tile can flex when walked on, especially if it’s less than a couple days old. That can cause cracking. Another is if the floor is installed in a grid pattern (instead of staggered tiles). If the grout has not fully cured, try spreading some fresh grout and letting it fully dry. This could be enough to help it withstand some flexing. If not, the only real cure is to correct the subfloor. For these and all other questions, please call us at 1-877-757-8421.

Hello Robert, we apologize for the difficulty you had with the installation and appreciate your feedback. Since large format porcelain tiles can weigh over 10 pounds each, care is required in handling regardless of whether you are clicking them in or laying them into mortar (the traditional method). We offer our toll-free customer service line for anyone having difficulties during installation. For example, if angling the heavy tiles in is hard for you, we might advise tapping them in. If you contact us, we can assist by figuring out why you may be having the troubles you are. For these and all other questions, please call us at 1-877-757-8421. Worst product I have ever purchased
Let me preface this by saying that my husband is amazing at doing home improvement projects. There is nothing he cannot do. But this stuff right here was absolutely maddening to try and install. Tonight we finally gave up on it after 3 days of trying over and over again to do a very small bathroom. The only good thing I can say is we bought this on clearance and only paid a fraction of the original price. But let me tell you it was not worth the headache and I literally just had to buy a whole new floor because this stuff is so poorly made. The pieces are very heavy and the edges that are supposed to click together are so flimsy they literally break into pieces while you are trying to position it to click together. It just breaks apart in your hands. They pieces do not stay locked in together once you move on to the next piece so you are just constantly readjusting the ones you already had in place. We never got past the second row successfully. This stuff is absolute junk. I will be throwing it in the garbage. Do not waste your money or your time on this product.

Please understand that until we speak with you, we have no idea what specific problems you may have been having, so the suggestions we give here are just general. So here are some common suggestions we make that can help out those having installation difficulties similar to yours:
          - Making sure your subfloor is clean, smooth and dead-flat is one of the best things you can do to ensure an easy installation.
          - Be sure your starting wall is as straight as possible. It is very common for walls to snake in and out which can make your first 2 rows very difficult (call us to learn workarounds).
          - Be sure to use the “guide piece” every time when connecting tile end-to-end. (Instructions page 2, sec. 10).
          - Yes, all 12”x24” porcelain tiles are very heavy and care must be used when handling. Some amount of broken/missing click edges are acceptable. Call us if this is a concern.

            Good concept, poor design
Definitely not a DIY project. Your floor better be ABSOLUTELY level or else you will have a heck of a time putting this tile in. If you try and pick it up, the tongue and groove sections crack off (very easily). One section pops out you have to go back and hammer in two rows. You can do tile in one day...if you have a team of people helping you. Or maybe if you are just doing a closet. Want to try and reuse a section? Well better hope you cut the correct side or else you have scrap that can’t be connected to anything and throws that row off. Even on clearance I would not buy again.

Okay to install, but because of the directional installation edge, there is a lot of waist. The edges connect with each other, so when I got to the cabinets and shower pan, I was only able to use a quarter of the tile while the rest was disposed due to no longer having the installation edge on the tile.

Yes, you are correct that the subfloor must be flat, which is a common requirement for floating floor installation. And yes, leveler can be very helpful if you are faced with a rolling subfloor.
