Exactly what i was looking for, red screws. Other big box stores carry every other color but red. I wanted red screws for my true redwood fence.

“Improved” version absolutely sucks. It’s horrible, does not pull the two pieces of wood together. The screw just keeps spinning. Bring back the old version, which was perfect!!! If you want to pre-drill every hole, buy it, otherwise look at other brands. I am so disappointed as I bought a lot of them and I used to rave about this screw using it for everything outdoors and indoors. Picture shows “improved” version on left, with different thread pattern that does not create a tight connection anymore.

I had to replace some 3-1/2 inch redwood fence boards about 4 or 5 months ago. I used these Deckmate screws to attach them. Yesterday I needed to remove about 15 boards and in doing so, found that about 10 of these Deckmate screws had broken during that time. Note that these did not break while I was installing them but sometime afterwards. Very frustrating.

Matches well with the wood I chose. Holds up well in outdoor weather conditions.

Screws were great, however too short for the original purchase.

Deckmate's star head seems to hold up pretty good with only a few stripouts. A few screws in each box have an excess of paint, & the bit doesn't go in at all, or at least not easily, but at least the screws are thus well protected. Perhaps also due to the paint thickness, these don't "start" well unless the wood is very soft, compared to some brands. But, they start better than some other brands, so I will continue buying Deckmate.
