This is so much better than those 2 foot pieces that have to be assembled along the seam on the side. That seam can come apart so a solid pipe is better. You can cut the pipe if you need less than 4 feet. Its great stuff.

the better alternative, but not a great finish on it

Clicking "yes" to say I would recommend this pipe, is a way of saying: more so than the alternative, which is the kind that comes as a sheet you have to squeeze together at the crimps before installing. This is a bit heavier pipe, the intersecting crimps at the end fit together very nicely; the only thing is, especially with an elbow, it takes a long time for the burning paint smell to go away, and some of the paint with it. A straight stack with no elbows, preferable anyway but not always practical, might not experience this. But on the elbow just above the stove top on mine, the paint is already half gone after a couple of autumn months' burning and I still smell it sometimes from what is left of it.
Durable, Sturdy, Easy to Install, Good Size & Weight
paint finish burns off and smells bad, very hard to round out again if it arrives ovaled
