Cooks low and slow year round too. The temperature will go higher but I like 225 to 250 for Boston butts turkeys and brisket.

Door was not aligned allowing smoke to escape. Also, the electrical connection (dial)_ which is used to determine temperature never got above 220 degrees, although the thermometer shows a maximum of 450 degrees. Overall, disappointed I could not smoke the brisket based on these faults.

The new Dyna-Glow Electric Smoker model. Good price, works well....
The new Dyna-Glow Electric Smoker model. Good price, works well. The built-in external temp thermostat is off by about 20-30 degrees which is critical when smoking but a known issue with all build-in thermostat models as they are cheap. Plan on buying your own thermostat setup so you can adjust your unit temps down into the appropriate range (about 185-190 for a desired 225 range and vent half open on this model). All in all, excellent setup for the price.

Smoker heats up great when empty, but I have problems...
Smoker heats up great when empty, but I have problems getting it over 220° when wood chips, water, and food are added. Would not recommend unless you have a great deal of patience and time.

Not hot enough
The smoker reaches 315°F when empty only!! I live in Florida and this smoker cannot go above 200°F when smoking. Removing the water tray helps but it just does not hot enough to smoke food. Dry wood chips would only partially burn during 5 hour smoke.Pros: It is a good size smoker and insulated.

Burner wattage confusion
Cannot determine wattage of electric heat element. Some retailers advertise the element as 1650 watts while other list as 1500 watts. Some of the former conflict within their own ad - in upper description listing as 1650 and then in product description listing as 1500 (Home Depot). A call to GHP customer service shed no conclusive light as the rep could only read from the manual and had no real knowledge. So, what's the scoop?

So far so good. I have made pulled beef bbq from a chuck roast, two turkey breast and a holiday ham. All came out perfect. The unit has been able to maintain temp just fine. I did have to add a a gasket to the door because it lost quite a bit of smoke around it. I wish the vent was adjustable. Other than that it is great. I will try to update my review after I have had it longer.
