Amazing for 1 year then everything breaks
Bought this 2 years ago and after 1 year the plastic kept breaking starting with the purple pole, then the wheels, and now the motor back part seal is no longer sealing. Everything has been replaced at cost to me! The last defective part the motor was the last straw I will never buy a Dyson again, it's not worth the money when it dIes after 2 years.

Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you've had so many issues with your Dyson V8. It's rather unusual to hear of all the problems you've had with pieces breaking. Dyson cord-free machines are made from polycarbonate ABS - the same material used in riot shields and crash helmets. They are tough, so we subject them to hours of testing, including drop and impact tests. Dyson machines are built to withstand years of residential household use: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3iXRFizaz8. As you'll see from the video, these machines go through some punishing tests to ensure their durability.
As a general reminder, the 2-year manufacturer limited warranty that we include with our cord-free machines is in effect from the original date of purchase, and covers the vacuum for both parts and labor for manufacturer defects, when used for private household purposes in accordance with the owner manual. However, the warranty does not cover wear/tear damage, cleaning the machine, accidental damage, tools and accessories, or maintenance of the machine which includes filter maintenance and blockage removal.

The Cats have met their match!
We were looking for a vacuum to do quick pick ups between using our corded tank type vacuum. The Dyson has become the primary vacuum! We foster cats and the Dyson V8 does an amazing job picking up after them. We have polished concrete floors and area rugs and the V8 adapts to all surfaces nicely. The attachments that come with the V8 are such a bonus when it comes time to clean out the cars or collect lint and dust in hard to reach areas. The Dyson handles well and is so versatile. It's amazing to see what the Dyson picks up right down to fine silt.Great Product!
A Powerful and Perfect Cordless Vacuum for pet owners!
This was honestly the very first Dyson product, and vacuum, that I have ever owned and I am thoroughly impressed with how much suction power comes from this tiny cordless vacuum. I own a dog who sheds pretty badly and live in an apartment and this thing keeps both my hardwood floors and my carpeting clean and spotless. I highly recommend this vacuum to anyone who is new to Dyson and also owns animal(s).

This is a pretty nice vacuum. Its light, rechargeable, cordless and works great on our laminate floor and shoe mats, picks up all the dog hair and is easy to dump. If it lasts more than 3 years I'll be a dyson owner for life.
I had a corded, heavy duty Dyson for 6-8 years. It worked great but it became heavy to lug around & up and down the stairs, since I have gotten older. I have been wanting this cordless one for a while, so when they had a sale I got it. It is great for us because we have a small house, 1350 sq ft, and it never takes long to vacuum. It only took a few hours to charge and it works great on our carpet then ceramic tile floor in the kitchen. No cord to hassle with. So lightweight. When it was time to do the stairs, I just changed the attachment and went right up the stairs. Some say you have to hold the on button, but you are grasping it anyway, so I didn't even notice it.

I recommended this product, because it's lightweight and easy to use. I find it's best for quick small jobs not for heavy duty cleaning. I find myself vacuuming part of my house, plugging it back in, doing some other cleaning then finishing my vacuuming.
We had to take the first vacuum we bought back after less than three weeks. It worked fine at first but then the motor started making a whirring sounds and would cut off after about 5 seconds. It would repeat this after pressing the button again and again. Took it back and got another. This one is fine so far, but have only had it less than two weeks. Easily transitions from tile to low pile carpeting. Easy to detach and empty. The battery doesn't last as long as I would like...seems I'm almost done with my rooms, going as quick as I can, then nothing. I still like it, but frustrating because I can't finish the job I started.
Suggest maybe having a backup battery or option to plug into an outlet if house really needs a good cleaning. My final verdict is still out on this vacuum.

I’m very happy with this vacuum. Was expensive but seems like it’s worth the investment. By far the nicest vacuum I’ve had to date. It’s light weight, the attachments are useful and the suction is better than expected for such a small unit. No cord is so awesome.

I recently moved and sold my Dyson cordless as I was a Male living alone and down sizing I brought my upright vacuum with cord with me. I missed. Y Dyson cordless so much that I replaced it with a new "Animal Dyson" cordless. It's easier to manage and I can get to places the upright can't plus it does a better job picking up dirt
For New Year's Eve this year, I sprinkled 20 oz of glitter in my living room on the floor...needless to say, it was ALL over the entire house by the end of the night (which I don't hate for NYE, but for normal life is super annoying). This puppy sucked up 99% of all the glitter. All the tools were SO helpful and useful. I will never use another vacuum ever again, and I recommend this to everyone I know! We also have a golden retriever and it has been the bane of my existence to lint roll his hair off our couches continuously. With the mini-motorized tool, I never have to use another lint roller again! I think I will actually save money with this vacuum. THANKS DYSON! You're the best.
In 45 years of owning both furry cats and vacuum cleaners, the V8 Animal is the first machine that really, really works. I was AMAZED at the amount of fur it picked up the first time we used it. The V8 is light and easy to handle. Unlike bulky canister vacuums with long tubes, it's compact to store and convenient to pull out in an instant. The cordless feature--and the fact that it converts to a handheld vac--means that we can de-fur both floor and furniture quickly and easily. We'll never go back to an ordinary vacuum cleaner!
