Door does not come with trim or screw covers
Overall, the door is average appearance with ease of motion moving the upper or lower frame to expose the screen. Installation was not bad. That being said, the final look of this product is less than desirable. The screws that attach the latch rail to the house, are exposed. No trim or screw cover are provided. This gives an unprofessional / unfinished look. When I spoke to the Anderson/EMCO rep, he said this particular model does not come with screw covers. However, they have the 400 series which does. So why would Anderson/EMCO design a storm door that reveals all the screws holding the frame to the house? Makes little sense. It's unfortunate their customer support team cannot take time to further research and try to come up with a workable solution that would be satisfactory to the customer, instead of saying I'll write this up -- is there anything else I can help you with? Had I known there was no finishing trim or cover, I would have gone with a different manufacturer. If exposed hardware is a concern of yours, I suggest looking elsewhere.

      NOT PRE HUNG
Not a fan... no where in this description does it say you have to create the frame... and two hours to install.... ha! NOT!

      Response from EMCOMay 6, 2021
The EMCO 300 Storm Door is not pre-hung but features an improved installation system since it comes with pre-cut latch and hinge side z-bars to eliminate trick measuring & sawing, bottom mount installation with self-leveling alignment clips to enable accurate placement in rough opening, and universal handing design that allows for either a right or left handed installation. Moreover, the advertised timeframe of 2-Hour Easy Install is tested and is based on time-study conducted from different people and skill set. Some outside factors can affect the success of the installation. We are sorry for the inconvenience this caused you. - Charmaine AWEMCOMarketing

        Quality door for the price.
The EMCO storm door is a heavy duty door with great features. Once installed it deadened the outside noise considerably. To avert the many times mentioned issue of the door’s lower panel rotting out I applyed silicone inside and out on the exterior door handle to seal it from rain getting in behind the handle. I also pulled the door edge trim off and sealed all the edges and re-installed the trim, also sealed around the glass frame. This should make the door water tight and impervious of the inclement weather. The installation is pretty intense and can be intimidating, if you read the instructions to the letter it should install perfectlly. Installing the storm door to a typical door jamb, the project went as expected. The only hitch i had with the entire install and it’s not even the manufacture’s problem was mounting the latch striker to the jamb. I had to get creative and add a thick shim to help stabilize the striker to the jamb for a more secure and hardened mount. Another resolve was with the required 5/8” drill bit...not a common size so I used a 3/8” bit instead. The holes were snug and made for a more exact fit to the door handle hardware. All in all the wife likes it so I’m happy.

Installed as the outdoor entry to a screened porch. Like that both glass panels can go up and down, or can be removed completely leaving just the screen with no crossbar. The nickel hardware is very nice and feels very substantial. The dead bolt feature is an added bonus, although it doesn't operate quite as smoothly as I'd like. Very pleased with this door.

My husband and I have done most of the renovations in our home ourselves. He does the construction, plumbing and electrical. I plan, paint, micromanage and examine his work :) (somebody has to do it). He says this is NOT for the average homeowner. This is not a diy project! Don't bother even trying. It took him 6 hours. Follow the directions and you will be miserable. Why do you have to shim the door if your opening is the right size? The door is actually smaller. Your contractor will hate you but have him/her do it. The final product is nice, but buy lots of beer. You are going to need it.

I bought this door several years ago, it did take a couple of years but now it is exactly like others have described. Rotting out and falling apart. Home Depot installed it, dog shredded up the screen right away, replaced that but now need a whole new door.

                  terrible piece of junk
BE WARE: We bought the door because of Andersen reputation. HA!! However, after we paid our installer $75 we found both windows stuck in down position. When trying to raise them, noticed both bent where it is supposed to go into the track and slide up and down. Now the beautiful frame is all scratched. I have spent hours on the phone with cust service (which are people who can barely speak English, I might add) and taking numerous photos of the defect/damage, receipts etc etc, emailing ALL REQUESTED info to get an email this morning NOW asking for me to get a level and place it on the door and send a photo. Seriously? HD has offered to replace the door, do, i think thats what we will do. But now we have to pay ANOTHER $75 to have the replacement door installed. Total $150 and we paid $200 for the door so, will be out $350 for a $200 door. If the star rating had less than 1, that is what it would get!!!

This is sad to read all of these poor Emco reviews. I have two OLD Emco doors in my house now and was considering another for a side garage entrance door. My 25 year old front storm door still looks and works well. The brass has tarnished a bit over the years, but it still looks and works fine. My rear garage storm door, also an Emco was installed about the same time. It is a hard plastic panel door that has survived Ohio winters very well. I just took it down to replace the rusted out steel service door the builder installed. Cleaned and repainted my Emco storm door, and re-installed it a few weeks ago. It still looks like new! After reading about this new junk they make, I have to look elsewhere. I don't need the headaches many people here are experiencing. Sorry Emco.

Absolutely Love this storm door. It was easy to install & looks beautiful. Able to clean both sides of the windows as they turn over when they are opened all the way (carefully) then pulled towards you on one side only. (I thought at first it was coming out of the door, but it didn't).. If there is some room at the bottom of the door, I wouldn't worry about it as we found our regular door creates a suction when opened and closed and the air needs somewhere to go. I would highly recommend this storm door.

                      Second door, same issues
This is the second time I purchased this same door. Both times this door rotted from the inside out. The first time I tried a warranty claim, but was turned down because the labeling inside the door had come off. I bought the second door hoping the design had change. It didn't and it was the exact same door. I bought the second door 6 years ago and it's doing the same thing....rotting from the inside out. I decided not to even try a warranty claim (which isn't very good). I went with another door that was designed and built better from a different store. This door MIGHT be ok if it's not expose to the weather. However, what storm door isn't exposed to some type of weather. I would not recommend this door to anyone.

                      Product without quality and warranty
We have in our house two door like this. One is rusty and bumpy (see pictures attached) and after we get in contact with the customer service, they just said what you can see below. This is bad, in addition these panels are not offered as a part for replacement. Therefore we have to buy a new door. Customer Services answers: 1st "We are sorry to learn that the panel is deteriorating but the warranty for door is not transferable. You may refer to the attached file for more information about the warranty." 2nd "The warranty only applies to the original purchaser of the door. The former owner of the house will not be able to file a claim for the door since they do not live on the house where the door is installed anymore. We are sorry but we are unable to provide you the cost of the panel since it varies. We suggest that you contact Home Depot or other Andersen dealer near your place."

                      EMCO needs to change design
I am having the same issue as described in other negative reviews. The door was already replaced once and I just noticed that the replacement door is experiencing the same issue with the door skin rotting from the inside due to moisture getting between the wood core and the aluminum skin. The original was purchased in Sept 2010 and the replacement 3 years later. Seems with multiple people having the same issue, Anderson would have found a solution to the problem and changed the design. Guess it's cheaper to keep supplying replacements..

Solid Storm Doors... until they DETERIORATE!
Originally purchased 2 doors in 2007... have replaced the back door & front door once each because of corrosion in 2011 and am now on the 2nd replacement for the front door. Although I was glad they honored the warranty in 2011, it was a pain to remove the doors, haul them to Home Depot for the replacements and re-install. The corrosion on the back door was around the lock set and along the bottom edge. The corrosion on the front door was along the edge and bottom. The bottom edge of the door is exposed wood core until you attach the sweep so I thought that was where the moisture was coming from and traveling up inside to cause the corrosion. Before I hung the replacements in 2011, I painted the bottom edge before installing the sweeps and around the holes drilled for the lock sets. Didn't solve the problem... The front door has corrosion AGAIN (inside and outside) on the hinge side and near the bottom corner of the window( inside). Imagine it won't be long for the back door to show the same. A few weeks ago, I contacted Andersen/Emco to find out about a replacement under warranty which they offered but it's now just a replacement door panel (no hardware, etc.) OR you can pay for a FULL replacement albeit at 1/3 the cost of a new door. Since this is replacement #2 (same issue) I asked whether they had changed anything in how they're manufactured so they don't corrode? No... Do they have any recommendations to pass along (sealer, caulk, etc.) when installing to prevent this from happening again? No... So I can replace this under warranty again, disassemble, lug to store, lug new one home, & re-install... just to do it over again in a few years, but by that time the original warranty will be over and I'll just have to buy a new door! and it darn sure won't be one made by Andersen/Emco!! They did say if I PAY for the full replacement that I can bring it to the store to 'upgrade' (pay MORE) to an aluminum Andersen door which does not have the inner wood core (that's the only fix to stop the corrosion)... and the new door will have a new warranty since it's a new model. Wish they would've said this the FIRST time I replaced these!! If THIS design is flawed, fix it or STOP selling them! Save yourself the headache, buy another storm door. This one WILL deteriorate if it is exposed to 'weather' (hmmm ... isn't that what a storm door is for??)

Thank you for the feedback about the EMCO 300 Series Storm Door. EMCO Storm Doors have tendencies of rotting or deterioration as it has a wood core. This normally happens when water infiltrates the aluminum skin and comes into contact with the solid wood core. The rotting or deterioration of a wood core storm door with reference to the time is dependent on some factors. It may depends on how the door was installed, the environment or the location where the door is installed and how the door is being maintained. These factors contribute to the deterioration of the door. We apologize for the inconvenience. - Joyce AWEMCOMarketing

Bought this door about 6 years ago...and it's slowly rotting away!
I purchased this door back in 2010. It was in stock and I wanted a back storm door so that I could enjoy the breeze that would blow through my back yard. The door installed easily and I even had my handyman install a bush on the bottom. 3 years later, I noticed what appeared to be bubbling in the paint at the base of the door. I left it alone then, but fast forward to today and you can see what has become of the door. Water has gotten inside of the door and is rotting it away from the inside out! I got on Home Depot's website and noticed that the EMCO/Andersen Doors customer service had actually responded to a few of the comments. I decided to give them a shot. Randi was very nice and she told me that my door has a 12 year warranty against defects! 12 years! Wow! She asked me a few questions, gave me some directions and I am soon to be on my way to getting a replacement. Sure I have a few hoops to jump through. I just hope that they've improved the quality in the past 6 years...

                      Poor Quality Control
We purchased this door at our local Home Depot on 11-21-15 on the salesperson's recommendation. After installing it, we discovered that there aren't any notches in the right side tracks for positioning the glass panels. The left side has them, but not the right. We regret not reading the reviews before purchasing this product.
