Always buy truck full when sale priced.
Have purchased a wide variety of brown mulches over the years. Using colored mulch makes replenishing a given. Only one bag of 20 purchased in this lot had some mold in it. Pleasant surprise. GREAT price.

Good buy
Worked well for what i needed. I bought brown and it spread easily and looks nice. It rained 3 straight days after i put it down and it still looks nice, color held fine.

Avoid This Trash
Two different types of mulch (hardwood vs. bark) with two different colors (brown vs. reddish copper). A lot of construction debris for crap that is advertised otherwise. Save your money and buy something else.

So many rocks
This is the third year I have used this mulch. The first two years I was pretty happy, but this year the mulch had so many rocks in it. I'll be looking for a better product next year.

Trash Mulch
Bought this deal today and this mulch is garbage. It has a strong smell of horse manure and chemicals. The wood chips has white spots indicating rotten. I am flabbergasted on how Home Depot is selling such poor quality product. The thing that hurts me the most is that I am a person with rheumatoid arthritis and can’t carry these garbage back to the store. Beware of this brand and deal and don’t get it is rotten wood stuffed with chemicals. You

Great long lasting mulch
Purchased 45 bags of this mulch to fill flower beds. Great color lasts all year long and makes my property look great. Perfect bag size makes easy to handle and easy rip openings to place mulch where you need it.

Different colors
I bought 30 bags of brown mulch and half of the bags were much darker than others. Almost as if some were black mulch. Didn’t notice it until I already opened them.

Great price, so-so product
I bought 5 bags today, all from the same pallet. When i got home, I dumped the 1st bag out and it was nice and brown and shredded. I spread it out, then I dumped the 2nd bag out and it was reddish brown and chunky. It didn't match the 1st bag at all. All the other bags were also reddish Brown so now I got 2 tone mulch. Guess I'll go get the Evergreen mulch from the other place. Never had a problem with that.

The product description video shows the 2 cu ft bags, unfortunately this is a 1.5 cu ft bag, so its actually 30% more expensive than last year.

Something was not okay
I bought three bags, a bag was heavier than other. I thought that bag was wet. I opened and found a big clay inside . Picture showed a pruner to compare size.

inconsistent quality
Geeze I hope they don't charge me extra for what came in my last bunch of bags. I must have bought 40 bags of this material over the past 4 months, good quality and consistent product. Don't know what happened with these last bags, 20 total, but it was awful. Large chunks, roots, stone, brick, large mulch , small mulch, chips, and everything in between. Going to plant the root and see what kind of free tree they included.

Plastic and smaller cu ft
Bought this on sale, even though it's a smaller cu ft/bags than some other. Included large chunk of plastic and multiple big chunks/sticks. Not a quality you'd want to use in a flower bed area, visible area, or with edible producing plants.

Worked for me!
I took a chance with this mulch after reading some bad reviews. Home Depot had a 5 for $10 deal so I got 10 bags of the brown mulch. There was no debris or trash mixed in. It has lost a tiny bit of color but I really like the color it is. It’s been on the ground for 2+ weeks and through 2 rainstorms and I live about 2 blocks from the Atlantic of the coast of Maine. I did the recommended 3 inches of mulch and I have NO weeds poking though. I did a layer of newspaper before laying it down as well. Overall great product for the great price.

Not brown
I bought 40 bags of brown mulches, when I spread it on the flowers bed, several bags are BLACK mulch not brown mulch, it makes my landscape so strange in 2 different color, I will not recommend this brand.

Different colors
Went to spread 10+ bags in my garden bed and it was clear that several bags were a darker color. I thought maybe those bags were wet so I sprayed the entire garden bed after spreading thinking that would unify them. I called Scotts customer service, spoke with Alyssa (I think that was the name) and all she could read from the script was " that the mulch is manufactured in different areas and the mulch can be different shades of brown." She had nothing else to say. I was very unhappy.

Best!!
I spread 12 bags of this and the quality is so much better than the other brands! Real chunks of hardwood, not just shredded scrap, and not a bit of mold or mildew. There were two over-sized pieces of wood in the bunch, but everything else was great. It covers well and hopefully the color will last more than a few weeks.

earth grows scotts black mulch
Hi, I bought some of this mulch around August and Sept of 2021 and it was the nice black mulch, Got it on sale at my local Home depot here in Los Banos, CA. and after 2 months of it in my yard and stuff, it started producing mold on the mulch.

Buy this mulch from home depot
This is the best mulch i have found , it looks nicer and much cheaper than pine needles. Since pine needles are 4 to 5.00 a bail and this brown mulch last longer than pine needles

Horrible in every way
Bought a total of 35 bags. The color of the mulch was drastically different between groups of bags. Was supposed to be brown mulch & some bags were a reddish brown while others were dark brown. And some bags had big chunks of mulch inside them that had no color/dye at all and were just a light natural wood color. To add insult to injury, the color completely faded in a couple of weeks despite it not raining for days after the mulch was put down. All that time, money and effort and my landscaping looks ridiculous

Very disappointed!!!
Scotts Earthgro Brown has changed and is no longer the same color or same consistency as what it has always been. Found out the hard way after ordering 325 bags to be delivered and 75 bags was the same as what it used to be and the rest were completely different!!! Unfortunately, I can not get any more bags that match what we currently have and will now have to research to find a new mulch to use! It has been a huge investment of time and frustration. I really wish they would have kept it the same and not changed!!!

worst mulch
This year this product is the absolute worst. Color is lost and spurge is all over the mulch. Worst ever. Will have to pay again to put a different mulch.

Color Warranty
I purchased this product because it had a 12-month color warranty. I put down 25 bags, and within one month the color faded to a point where it looked like it had been there a full year. I coated the entire area again with the same mulch, and again the color did not last more than 6 weeks. There is no way Scott's should be warranting this product to maintain color more than a few months .. never mind 12 months. I also assume there is no ramifications for this false advertising because they would need to replace every bag anybody ever purchased throughout the year as I am sure I am not the only one impacted.

funky fungus growth
The mulch overall ok for its value. The mulch looks great right after you lay it down. Having it in the bags makes it really waay to carry around the yard without having to use a wheelbarrow and shovel/rake. Now time for the downside, it does not hold its color for very long, within a few weeks its starting to loose its color and it grows some very funky looking fungus or something. It gets about 2 foot round and is bright yellow then after a few days it turns to a dark brown and when you try to clean it up it turns to a dust. It also grows some crazy large mushrooms, which dont last long.
