Some of the bags had white chips mixed in, not terrible. I would buy more if needed.

Clearly on the bag it states no construction debris but survey says this is a lie. If you enjoy picking out cheez it wrappers, bottle caps, pieces of soda can and last but not least sharp shards of glass out of your mulch than this product is for you!!!

Color is great and very few large chunks. Spread easily.

Does the trick and have used this before. Works as well and holds up as long as any other brand I have tried except rubber mulch.

This is a finer mulch than I've used in the past. Very easy to distribute. Protects flowering plants by keeping moisture in soil. With this 90+ heat this week, my beautiful flowers have survived with blooms!

Got it on sale but after using it I would pay full price anytime for it great product and it looks beautiful with our plants.

We spread this mulch on Sunday, we'll be watering it Tuesday to give the color time to settle. Color looks nice so far. Unfortunately, some of the bags contained chips and pieces of wood instead of shredded wood. It's quite noticeable in the yard when you're looking at the mulch (see photos). It would be preferable if the bags were more consistent with shredded/mulched wood, instead of the bigger chips of wood. There were also larger 5" pieces and some branches in some of the bags. So far the product looks nice, but for the chips and chunks of wood.

Product was nice and black and very little oder .No garbage mixed in with material! Will purchase more since landscaping not completely finish

Mulch looks good, just have to wait to see how well it keeps its color over time.

The mulch is fine enough to get a more even coverage under even fine or delicate ground cover. It seems it may perform better than the uneven grade of black mulch acquired from the nearest competitor. The finer grade has a tendency to break down quicker, but the result is far better in appearance.

The mulch was very consistent in color and texture -- was not wet, and was easy to apply. Looks good too when applied.

What a difference the mulch made to the appearance of our home!! Really spruced up the looks of our place beautifully! Highly recommend this product!!

I was going to give this 5 stars, especially after seeing on the package that there was no 'coonstruction debris. But I kept running into pieces of 'debris'. Initially I thought maybe the Scotts people knew we were going camping soon and had included kindling. How nice! But then I got worried cause how did they know we were going? So it went back to 3. other than the kindling - great stuff!

I would not be person this bran again the wood chunks are too large and I think will be problematic breaking down eventually I prefer smaller find the chips are to break down and cover up as you maintain your bed.

Great product after a four day delay on the delivery. This makes 240 bags we put down on our trees this year. We put it in a 6 x 7 foot frame work.this way the mulch is spread out to keep the roots wet not just a ball around the trunk.

The pallet of mulch appears to have two different degrees of mulch. Some very shredded the other more solid chips. Liked the shredded better. Did not realize till the end though. Bought 42 bags. Should do the job well. I have enough cover

Bought 10 bags of the black mulch yesterday (6/3) . I also spread those 10 bags yesterday afternoon. Two hard rains yesterday and my black mulch looks like dried out brown mulch that's been out for a year. Very disappointed in this product ! The bag claims 10% more color and a 12 month guarantee to hold its color. So much for that guarantee, this product faded in a day!

I was excited to see this mulch was on sale over Memorial Day weekend 4 for $10. We purchased 40 bags in all. About a third of the bags had some sort of white stringy substance throughout them (possibly mold?). Some bags had white shredded mulch throughout them (WHITE mulch in what was supposed to be BLACK mulch). And, unfortunately, the size of the mulch wasn't at all consistent. We received bags with very large chunks of wood in them. The largest chunk being over 10 inches long (as seen in picture). After picking out the large chunks and tossing the moldy mulch, I'd have to say, it looks pretty good. Although, I would not recommend this product until Scotts gets some better quality control.

I purchased 50 bags at $2 per bag and even at that price this is a poor product. I put some down last week intending to finish this weekend. The color faded so much in what I put down last week it looks a year old compared to the new mulch. Next year I’ll skip the sale and buy bulk. I do not recommend this product based on these results.

I am very disappointed with my experience with this product. The black color faded literally in a couple of days. It looks ugly brown after 3 days and the bag says year long color!! You can see in the photo the difference between the mulch I just put down and the one that is 3 days old. Look at the difference! If they weren't so heavy, I would take the remaining bags back to the store.

Mulch was consistent in size and color. Easy to handle with the size of bag. Spread very easily and was reasonably priced. We just recently had a subtropical storm come through our area. The mulch pretty much stayed in place and seems to have retained its original black color. This is our second year purchasing this mulch and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Would definitely recommend to anyone over the generic brands!

Overall, meets expectation. I found some construction debris, larger pieces of wood and electrical wire. Mulch somewhat wet, and after reading other reviews, I spread the mulch and let it dry before watering the next day. Color is good, really adds definition to the shrubbery next to the patio and the other shrubbery beds around the house.
