    First Digital Level
I was excited about ourchasing this innovated digitsl level. How cool is it to have a level be upgraded with technology, being able to have several different modes, black light, and in a compact torpedo. It’s affordable tool for your tool bag. No more guessing if the bubble is between the lines to make sure it’s level, now you’ll be certain thanks to the digital level reading 0 degrees. My new favorite tool.

This level will get you off the bubble. You know that bubble we're staring at and wondering,"Is that the EXACT middle?". This thing will tell you, digitally, if you are one-tenth of one degree off. It does a lot of things I probably won't use but it is the best and most useful level I ever had. It tells you how many inches of rise per foot or how many degrees. Set it to measure degrees to the whole digit or degrees to one decimal point. It has a backlight for when you're working in conditions of poor lighting. There's a v-shaped groove down the middle of one edge for attaching to pipes and there are magnets on the other side for, obviously, attaching it to magnetic surfaces. I'm replacing a drainpipe in my yard that runs from my downspout then down a bluff. I used this level to measure the slope I need so now I'll know what angle to bend my 2 inch PVC. I've looked at digital levels before but never saw one good enough to take home before. This will be my go-to level in most cases from now on. Empire is a name associated with quality levels and other measuring instruments.

accurate, durable, easy to use digital level with back light and magnets! This has become my new favorite level. It is accurate to 0.1 degrees (according to the manual and my testing on surfaces I thought were very level). The manual says it meets this accuracy just at 0 degrees and 90 degrees. The accuracy is 0.2 degrees at other positions. It also says it meets this accuracy in the temperature range of 15C to 25C (59F to 77F). It can be operated over the temperature range of -10C to 50C (14F to 122F) It uses 2 AAA alkaline batteries. I haven't run mine out yet, but the manual says they are good "up to" 100 hours. It auto powers off after 3 minutes on inactivity. It is rated as IP54 dust and water ingress protection - this translates to this "Protected from limited dust ingress" and "Protected from water spray from any direction". It is not protected against all sources of dust. It can not be subjected to water jets or submerged in liquid. I think a lot of carpenters and plumbers are used to other units of measuring angles (like inches per foot - which is an option you can change to). For comparison - 0.1 degrees is equal to 0.021 inches per foot. This is about 1/8 of an inch over 6 feet. You can zero it on any surface you want by using the inspect button. It is worth reading the manual as there are some nice features that aren't obvious - it has an audio leveling feature that lets you set level using a sound for feedback so you don't have to be able to see the screen. You can also change the units - whole degrees (no decimal), degrees with 1 decimal place, percentage / slope given to 1 decimal place, millimeters/meter, inches/foot given as a decimal, or inches/foot given as a fraction.

You can see from the picture there isn't that big of a difference in size between a standard torpedo level and the digital one. The digital one lets you be more accurate, but not enough to matter in most applications. On the other hand, the digital level has more options for displaying the information. You can get the display in degrees, percent, and pitch. You can also set a reference angle, and get reading relative to that. I find this especially handy for setting the angle on my table saw. I do have a level specifically designed for that, but this level works just as well, and it takes AAA batteries, not had to find button cells. About the only thing I would have done differently is to have a continuous magnet instead of the 3 round magnets in the base.

Perfect Size For Measuring In Small Spaces! What I liked most about this level is the lighted display. As can be seen in the photo it allows you to see in dark places the level display. The second thing I like is the level has a numeric display that show exactly how level, or not, your item is. No guessing like when using a conventional bubble level. The magnets are very strong and were able to hold the level vertically on steel conduit and hanging from a steel wall cabinet. Unlike some digital levels however, this level uses disposable AA batteries.

This digital level has a lot of functions which makes it nice to get the information you need. It comes with batteries and is already calibrated. However, the calibrating the level after replacing the batteries is easy. The display has a back light which helps seeing the display in darker conditions. The display can measure horizontal or vertical planes. It can display in degrees (whole and 10th decimal), inches (decimal and fraction), Millimeter and % of slope. It also has the ability to zero out the level to a specific angle. It has an audio output to let you know where level is (it gets pretty annoying though and I quickly turned it off). It has a couple of fairly strong magnets on the bottom which allow it to stick to metal. This would be handy in a metal bending application. Assembled in Vietnam.

This is the level I have been looking for: one that not only measures level but can tell you how much out of level you are in degrees, inches, or millimeters! I originally got this to help in flattening boards and leveling some of my building projects; I have always been frustrated with trying to figure “how much” I have to adjust an angle to get to level. I have a gauge I use that can tell me how far out of level I am in degrees, but I typically want to know this in inches or millimeters, or I want to adjust a slope to have a certain pitch and want to know how many in or mm below level I have to drop my marking line. This level is perfect for accomplishing that. The ability to set an arbitrary zero and get angles from that setting is also a nice feature. The magnets used in the level are very strong and stick nicely to most metals, and the backlit display is also a nice feature. The audio level alert is great as well: you can set it on one end of your project and listen for the tone to tell you when you are close to (within 2 degrees) or at level. Works great for helping to level an RV as well, as you don’t always have the luxury of being able to look at the level as you are trying to move the RV up onto leveling blocks. You can even use it as a plumb bob (something I used it for once). I find this digital level to be an asset for a lot of my projects. The only drawbacks to this level are that: 1) it does not have a bubble built in as well, so if you run out of battery, or have to tilt it past the tilt angle (the angle at which it stops reading, 30 degrees), it is useless; and 2) it will not read an angle if laid flat (again, because of the tilt angle shutoff); it has to be on its edge. Neither of these is a cause for me to not recommend it, nor to reduce its star rating (OK, I would have knocked it a half a star for the no bubble thing), as for my purpose it is exactly what I need, but you should be aware of these limitations before you spend the money on it.

Empire e105.48H Digital Box Level This is a very nice and well made level. A lot more level than I ever used. It has 7 measuring modes and it is IP65-rated for dust/water-proofing. The shock absorbing end caps protect the ends of the level from damage and the caps can be removed if needed. There is a really nice large handle built in (perfect for hanging from a wall hook). The huge dual electronic lighted displays on the side and edge are super convenient and easy to read. The display readout can be inverted for overhead measuring. The level has slope info built in as one of the measurement options, making it nice for setting drainage measurements. There is also a hold button to lock in a measurement if needed. I have used this level a lot in my workshop as a straight edge and recently to hand a door. I found the dual digital display very convenient and easy to read even as daylight faded. Wish I purchased this level years ago. I am finding that this level has become my go to level. I would definatly reccommend this level to other contractors, construction workers and serious DIY’ers. The only thing I have found that I wish Empire did different is the way the battery door is secured. I like that the level takes regular AA alkaline batteries, I just wish the battery door did not take a screw driver to open. I always remove the batteries from a tool that is put away to avoid battery leakage that will ruin an expensive tool. A clip or thumb screw or something like that would be better for me.

48” TRUE BLUE lives up to its name! This level comes from the factory preset to zero. It can be reset by the user if the situation warrants. Having the positive and negative measurements helps with right/left adjustments. Its sides have a “serrated” or rough edge to prevent sliding on smooth surfaces. Tough construction lets it take a beating on the jobsite!

I've always wanted a digital level and this one is great. Right out of the package I could tell it was a quality, solid level. For less exacting work it has all the usual bubble levels. The digital feature is great. There are readouts on the side and top (see photo) which comes in handy when I'm working close to the floor or ceiling. Another great feature is that the digital readout gives you arrows to let you know which end needs to be raised or lowered (see photo). This particularly helps when I get close to level as well as the beeping that lets me know when I'm getting close to level (intermittent beeping) and when I'm perfectly level (constant tone). The backlight also comes in handy when working in dim areas. This is an all around great level. A great investment.

This is an incredibly nice 4 foot aluminum level. It makes me want to go out and but an F150 and get a contractor's license. The level has 7 measuring modes: 4 precision; 4 rough-in. It is IP65-rated for dust/water-proofing. This one is non-magnetic but there is a magnetic version should you desire one. The end caps can be removed if needed. There is a really nice handle built in- perfect for hanging from a pegboard hook. The huge electronic display is doubled on the short edge, making it a dual-display and super-convenient. I will use this a lot as a straight edge and it will work really well as such. For contractors it has slope info built in as one of the measurement options. I am extremely excited to begin using this. The manufacturer's website is awesome and has a link to the user manual as a PDF: http://www.empirelevel.com/digital-levels.php.

      Great When You Need Numbers
This is a great level for when you need to translate a slope or angle into hard numbers either to match a specification, translate the angle to another location, or do some calculations. Where standard vial levels do a great job visually showing you when something is either plumb or level, when something is not either of those you're mostly left guessing. Or you have to get out a tape measure to see how far out of level something is (awkward at best.) This Empire digital box level has different levels of accuracy on degrees, in/ft, mm/m, and percent and it's quick and easy to change among them with the mode button. I really like the shorter 16" since I don't use this functionality that often. You can always set this on top of one of your longer levels if you want to check the grade across a longer length.

The level you use to check another level
This is a well made sturdy easy to use unit. [ once you thoroughly read the instructions] This is the unit you want when doing work that requires a perfect level or a short grade [ like a shower drain set] . I checked it against my little bullet level by the same manufacture and was able to see the difference that my eye would never catch just using a sight bubble. I install machinery from time to time that has to be dead level. This unit makes it easy to do so. You can set it so you follow a grade without having to get a bigger level. I used it to make sure my new car lift was dead straight and level to the floor. We will be lifting up to 10,000 # on a two post system and it is must that Both side be the same. This unit left no question we did it right. For example if you you need to slim a post or a conveyor line, it will give you the exact amount you need for level. I will never be without this level again. It was not hard to use. and was able to take normal abuse. The pictures may not be clear but over a regular bubble level, I found that this Empire digital improved the reading and then the work by at least 3mm every time.

A great durable level from the best
The level seems well thought out with plenty of modes depending on the task you're trying to accomplish. The LCD screen is clear and easy to read. The backlight is especially helpful in low light situations. The level is user friendlh with audible alerts to when you're on target. The only downside is it doesn't come with a case. If you purchased a 24 inch version the case fits both levels

Easy to Use, Lots of Features
The Empire True Blue 24" digital magnetic level is a must for the do-it-yourselfer or professional. The 24" size makes it easy to use almost anywhere. the 24" level is accurate and easy to use. Instructions are easy to follow to navigate all of the options for the digital display and functions. The magnets hold fast and strong. the audio function allows you to maneuver your work to come to level without having to watch the bubble. The display lets you know how far off your work is from level. You can also set your work in place with a preset down or up slope. This is especially useful for flat roof and sewer pipe installs. The well made case keeps your level well protected and provides a safe transport from job to job.

      Fantastic!
I am so impressed with this digital box there is feature after feature. The level is 24'' and is magnetic. The magnets are rubberized so no scratching, great for leveling appliances. There is backlighting for dimly lit areas, Hold button to mark reference points, Audio leveling, Battery indicator, mode button for type of measuring sought (7 different modes).Instructions in English, Spanish and French. My first use with this I needed to determine a level. Held my level up, found my degree, hit the hold button and done. Comes with a protective carrying case that can be held up with its loop to keep it off the floor. Easy read vials and rubber ends. I replaced both my 2' and 4' after using this.

Almost the only level you should need
From the moment I unboxed the Empire True Blue - I was impressed. It is a handsome tool and comes with a nice case to keep it that way. The level comes with true bubble vials but also has built-in display that can be easily read from both the level side and top. The display can be easily switched to different modes including degrees, percentage of slope, inch/ft and will also display in millimeters/meters if desired. Display is backlit, however the display has a great contrast that is easy to read in bright daylight. One feature I love is the audio feature. Running a joist or stringer is hard to keep level and not take your eye off the level. The Empire True Blue has an audio tone that changes when you are too high, low or dead on. I can nail a board and turn my back on the level! It comes with removable bumpers on the ends of the level. The easily remove so that the level can be used on end. The Empire True Blue is fully settable on just about every feature including calibration and not too complicated to use. Takes ordinary AAA batteries. I'm glad to have the True Blue in my tool box!

      Excellent Tool!
Another great use of technology! This level is super accurate and super handy! It comes in a nice padded carry case and is easy to use. It has magnets in the base which helped me out when I used it to install a new air cleaner rack on my furnace. The top window and back light made reading it in a confined space easy. It is well made, super rugged and a joy to use. A very nice tool.

      Great Combination of Tools
The torpedo level is a solid well built item, the magnets make it helpful to fix it to screws on the surface. The used the speed square to line up drawer handles. It is very easy to see and read the markings. The Magnetic Digital Box Level is very accurate. I picked this because my eyes are not what they were. Now I can just read the numbers to verify level or hear the tone. The carry bag is a good place to store it and keep it protected.

This level is GREAT! The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is it does not do horizontal level. If it does, I have not figure out the setting yet. But for vertical and flat. You can not beat it. For long spans I put it on my 8ft and 6ft level. I even found out one of my levels was out. Thinking of buying the bigger one. In fact. My brother saw me using it and decided to get one for himself.

I work in the asphalt paving industry and we use these levels to assure the paving meets the ADA requirements and check slope for proper drainage. We prefere the Empires over other manufactureers because they self calibrate and stabilize quickly. When we place the level on hot asphalt (320 F) we need a quick read before the alluminum body statrs to warp. The Empires never disappoint. We have purchased both the 4' and 6' levels and will continue to do so.
