Assembly comprises screwing the metal handle into the plastic shovel. Two screws are supplied for this but you need a powered driver to get them in as there are no holes prepared in the handle.
I laid it on a flat surface so that the handle was correctly aligned with the blade of the shovell.
This shovel has a nicely shaped business end and the human end has a neat shock absorber in the handle. This is great for when pushing snow along and it snags on a rock, nail, or something solid.
The edge of the blade is nice for getting under ice on decking, and being plastic it is not going to rip holes in the deck.
During the first use (after the Northeast blizzard of March 2017!) the handle started feeling loose. The two screws are starting to come loose. I am going to have to use bigger bolts and screw the handle though both sides of the shovel to hold this in place. Once that is rebolted I think this will be a solid performer.
A small modification to allow actual bolts, and prepared holes in the handle would have earned it 5 stars.
The Bigfoot 19 inch snow shovel has a super large grip for your hands. Plenty of comfortable room to grip the shovel even with heavy snow gloves on. It's design helps move a lot of snow at once. It is made well, and will help you get through your shoveling fast. The scoop is durable and light, the quality feels like it will last a long time. I would recommend this shovel.

Product is very poorly designed. This is my worst purchase from Home Depot. The shovel came with only one screw (someone said two, but I only received one in the package I ordered online). The screw was loose and you can't get it tight. The screw was stripped out and lost when I shoveled the snow for the first time. Don't bother with this product.

It is a good quality shovel, a bit heavy, but usable. The only special feature is the big handle, which is great for people with big hands.

We have only had one "opportunity" to use this snow shovel, and it did the job. Our concern is it won't make it through the season. The construction, and the manner in which the "shovel" is attached to the handle is pretty flimsy. With a heavier snowfall, we suspect it will fall apart.

Both shovels were shipped WITHOUT the correct number of self-threading screws. Rather than return them, I purchased additional
screws to install the handles. Very disappointed.
Shovels are good.

Great Shovel
Leave it to New England to have a snowfall in April! I tried out this shovel on some heavy, wet Spring snow and I was impressed. The shock absorbing handle is a good feature. My driveway is uneven and while shoveling I can have sudden stops. This handle absorbs the shock well.
The oversize shovel is also a nice feature to have. The snow slid off the shovel well and the shovel handled the loads with ease.
The best thing about this shovel is that it has not snowed since I got it.
It does seem like a good value for the money. I am replacing one that had a metal strip on the bottom of the scoop which has worn away. This shovel has a thick plastic reinforced area that looks like it will hold up well. I use this on my back deck so my dogs can get access to the lawn for potty needs and to clear a path for us to get to the garbage cans. Since I plan on using it on our deck I wanted something that I wasn't worried about tearing up the deck and this seems to fit the need.
I also learned a long time ago that the "D" handle is a must for a snow shovel.
I have used this to scoop up leaves during spring clean up. Large amounts of heavy wet leaves are actually a pretty good test and I was really happy with the shovel
Love the extra large handle. Gloves are no problem.
Very light weight and made of sturdy materials. Almost feels like you have nothing in your hands. The grip handle is very large and easy to grip. Even with bulky heavy gloves. Since this Poly Combination snow shovel was delivered I have been waiting for some snowfall to try it out. We are nearing here the end of January and still have not had any snow to shovel since recieving this item. Which I am not complaining about whatsoever. But is also quite unusal for this region. Just checked the 10 day forecast for this area and there is no prediction of snowfall whatsoever up to February 6th. I have no doubt this shovel will perform well when the snowfall finally does arrive. It feels great in your hand. It has a 19 inch wide base to move the snow and is light weight to save the back. Great shovel. But if I do not get to use it at all this year I will not be to unhappy..There is always next year..
I used this shovel to move several inches of new snow fall (no ice) and it worked well. I would not use it to scrape or chip at ice as I would a metal snow scraper, but this shovel was not designed as a scraper. This shovel is relatively light so my wife preferred using this over a heavier metal edged shovel. The grip is nice, wide enough for gloved hands. I don't know that the shock absorbing aspect was apparent to either of us. This is a keeper.
The Bigfoot Series 19 in. Poly Combination Snow Shovel with Double Wide Shock Absorbing D-Grip has a handle large enough for two hands which enables one to use great force when pushing snow. The handle also has a shock absorber for lessening the impact should the pusher encounter a stationary object. It has a steel handle and a well-designed, reinforced scoop with side walls which make it more efficient. It is a quality tool. We wanted it though for use as a snow shovel. For that purpose, it has one drawback. Because the plastic scoop does not have a sharp edge, it is not possible to shovel snow down to the bare surface. Because the large scoop may hold considerable snow, the weight of a wet snow may be too heavy for some to shovel. It has a one-year limited warranty. It is made in the USA.
Almost a perfect snow shovel...needs a riveted metal edge to prevent wear
This is "almost" the perfect snow shovel and while I especially like this shovel for all purpose use it lacks a metal edge to make it "the" perfect snow shovel. Not too wide so that it can be used as a actual shovel it has a deep enough scooping pocket to gather generous amounts of snow to be pushed away. The handle is a generous 9-inches wide making it extremely easy to push snow away with both hands even when you wear heavily padded gloves. Plastic materials used allows the scoop to easily shed wet and sticking slush/snow however I personally increase this ability by coating the inside scoop with a coat of paraffin wax which aids in this task considerably.
My only issue with this shovel alluded to earlier is the fact Emsco should have riveted a metal edge to this shovel to prevent wear which has already accumulated after the second use this season. This snow shovel is NOT a cheap snow shovel by any stretch of the imagination.... given reasonable care it should last quite a number of years.
