These sets are a great and inexpensive way to secure 1/8" wire rope. I used them for a tension wire on my firewood rack and they worked well. I do not have a swagging tool so I used a set of bolt cutters to secure them. When I applied the right amount of pressure, it crimped them just fine. I just had to be careful to not cut the wire or apply too much pressure. These are aluminum so they crimp well.

Standard issue wire rope ferrules for use with thimbles. To use simply slide 1/8" wire rope/cable through one side of the ferrule, create a loop, insert a thimble, run the wire through the other side of the ferrule, bring it out about 2" and apply the round stop. Use a crimping tool or water pump pliers to compress the ferrule and the stop around the wire rope/cable creating a safe and secure wire rope loop that can be used on any hook.

This pair of ferrules is well made, sturdy and includes stops to further secure the steel cable. What is required for these to be used safely is a swaging tool that properly compresses and crimps the ferrule into the cable strands and that is sold by The Home Depot. Unless you are going to use a lot of these ferrules the expense of the swaging tool would be impractical. While these ferrules do hold very well the instructions and warnings on the back of the package warn about misuse and the limitations of these ferrules. For making loops in steel cable a better choice would be cable clamps that can be adjusted and tightened once the cable stretches, which it will do once tension is placed upon it.

These are great, but they should be offered in larger packages. If you only need two, then ok, but the price per ferrule is too high. ALSO - why package the stops with the ferrules. I've used ferrules for years (decades really) and have not ever had any need for a stop!
