This bracket is very sturdy and helped the closet shelf to look better

It's a bracket.
You'll need a right angle drill. Otherwise screwing these in the wall is a frustrating task.

    Shelf and rod bracket
The product seemed reasonable, but after a few days, one of the brackets had to be replaced as it bent under the weight of my clothes. I was surprised that it bent. Replaced bracket seems fine. Could have just been a factory defect.

    versatile, clever design
all you need are studs to secure these brackets on the wall. unlike some other brackets, these don't need to be on the ends of the pole where your walls might be weaker. even if the brackets are closer to each other than you'd like, hangers can glide over the brackets easily because the U that holds the rod comes underneath. it's actually a pretty clever design, i'm impressed! yes, it's a plastic U shape holding the rod, but most of the weight load should be downward, which is transferred to the wall, i'm not too worried about the plastic U... yet

      Dressed up the Laundry Room
These brackets look nice and are easy to install. They support the weight fine. The only problem we had was that when we installed a set of three brackets one of them had the rod hanger lower from the shelf than the other two. We took it back and got one that was the same after checking with a ruler. So that is the quality problem - inconsistent sizes between shelf and rod holder.

        Good quality hanging rod
I chose this product for it's quality, price, and color. None of these disappointed me. I'd by another one if needed someday.

Buy This Bracket - Can Do Pull Ups With It
Highly recommended for a very sturdy, simple rod and shelf scenario. I normally do not review, but these things deserve way higher than a 3.5 average. There are some reviews that complain about the rod holder being plastic. While this is true, it is clear that the writer doesn't understand simple structures nor have they used these for an extended period of time. The plastic bracket only centers the rod on the metal support post. All of the weight is transferred to the metal support post in compression. Unless there is significant torque (which there shouldn't be with hanging clothes), the plastic part takes very little load and is not the "weakest link". In my condo, I had the standard ClosetMaid stuff. As a bachelor, no problems at all. But when my now wife moved in with all of her clothes, the ClosetMaid stuff collapsed twice. This is what replaced it and I haven't had a problem since. I put one in every stud along with closet rod supports at each end of the rod and was able to do a pull up on it (I am 170 pounds). When we bought our house, I replaced all of the clothes closet shelving with these brackets, sometimes spanning over 10 feet. No issues with the condo (6+ years), no issue with the house (4+ years). Bottom line: these have solved a re-occurring problem of closets collapsing due to excessive weight. Six closets later and the same quantity of clothes, not a single issue.

design flaw & quality control issues!!!!!
Installed 2 of these for a single closet rod. the vertical position of the closet rod holder was quite different between the two (as another reviewer had mentioned). I was putting them below 20" wire shelving so luckily I'm not using this for a shelf, it wouldn't work if I was. That's a quality control issue. What I'm furious about is that standard closet hangers hit both sides of the plastic clamps!!!!! What's the point if it doesn't even work!!!!! This was for an infants room so I'm actually planning on using infant hangers, they also hit on both sides, AND vertically, so three points of contact (at least on one bracket, not the other, that's back to the quality control issue). Now you THINK that would be enough, but there's still MORE!!! I used 1 1/4" closet rod, and there are NO 1 1/4" end mounts (EVEN ON LINE). I had to make a shim and put it in a 1 3/8". Now I have to waste time and money finding a replacement and pluging a bunch of drywall holes in a freshly painted room, VERY MAD.

Beefiest closet I've ever had. Tim the Tool Man would be proud!
These were simple to install and the closet went up quickly. Only recommendation is to use larger screws and always place them over a stud for maximum strength .

                Best Strong Closet Hardware Option!
We were tired of the typical white wire closet hardware for hanging clothes, etc and wanted something more durable, yet attractive looking. The quality of this product line is awesome and easily installed. No more nightmares of dealing with sub-par white wire closet products! next will be to do the rest of our home with this product. Great experience!

                  Heavy duty but not square
The item is excellent for supporting the center of the clothing rod in your closet but you will have to shim it since it's not truly a 90 degree angle. Just takes a little longer to install due to the shimming but I do like the heavy duty quality of it.

                  Know your load
Know how much weight the brackets will be supporting and purchase enough brackets to support that weight. They will bend if you under estimate the load. We needed 4 to hang 5 bikes.

                  Very Sturdy
In our house we had very special brackets for the hangers. I bought these to add to them, but I had to replace all of them because the rod height to the top of the shelf wasn't the same. These are good at holding a good amount of weight. Very happy with them.

                    Really poor quality
After much planning and having to go to three stores to get everything I needed, I am totally disappointed with this product. After installing the brackets every 16 Inches as recommended, I proceeded to seat the rod into the plastic cups on the brackets and the rod just popped back out. I tried repeatedly but to no avail. I also noticed that the arms on the brackets were not consistently bent. Really poor quality control from the manufacturer. I am working on a couple of fixes for seating the rod. I suppose the weight of the clothes will help seat the rod but I am not counting on it. Shouldn't have to.

                      Works well.
Decided to buy these because of mass clothes in the closet. The old one was drooping and pulling away from the wall. Its been a few weeks now and it's still level. It has a pretty good design for strength. We used cabinet screws to keep it up. The only thing was it was hard to keep it level and screw it in... Better to have 2 people, 1 to hold it and 1 to screw it in.

                      Part plastic, which arrived broken
I purchased this item online, the specifications say "steel". While part of this bracket is steel, the important part, the part that holds the rod, is plastic. Since one arrived broken, I can't believe a pair will hold 1,000 pounds. I bought 4, will return them all.

There are probably MUCH better quality brackets out there if you are looking to make your project look nice.
I have purchased a bunch of these brackets from Home Depot in the past year to use in stripping and reshelving several closets. I initially ordered some from homedepot.com, and, although each bracket was the same product and tagged size/sku, they varied significantly from bracket to bracket. Almost all of the brackets were mis-shapen or did not line up with each other when stood on end; the shelf-to-wall angles were > than or <90° and the rod-holding U-shaped parts did not line up with each other. Even the subtle inconsistencies could not be corrected by bending the bracket into shape because the material is so sturdy. I ended up using these brackets anyway since they were cheap and I liked how clothes hangers could pass over the bracket-rod junction when it was hung. Aside from the frustration of having to return the first mis-shapen pairs of brackets, I had to go to the Home Depot store and hand-select brackets with the most similar shape and alignment by standing them all up on edge (on the floor) and mix-matching the find sets that had the best alignment of the wall-to-shelf angle and the rod-holder. This was SUPER annoying. My projects came out okay, but it was at a significant cost of time and frustration with having to sort through a ton of these brackets to find good ones.

                        Nice looking
Good quality and reasonable cost for an upgraded finished look. I could not use it though because I was upgrading a closet and the rod elevation didn't work with my closets configuration without a lot more work. Darn.

Great brackets, very durable and hold a lot of weight
The hold up well under pressure. I have a lot of heavy garments and these brackets have held up better than any others I have purchased.

                            not for the un-experienced
this stuff is basicly junk, i installed them in 3 8' closets and on 16'' centers. i needed to buy twice the brackets because they seem that they were not built on the same jig. very difficult to adjust better off buy buying several boxes and matching the ones that are close to matching, i had to go to 4 home depot stores to get 20 brackets that matched, if you are not handy, DON'T BUY

                              Brackets will not hold rod
Plastic rod clamps will not hold rod. Rod pops in just fine but then pops right back out. If buying it for just a shelf you'll be ok but intend to use it as a rack you might want to purchase a different product.

Strong bracket, weak plastic rod holders!
I bought the white version of the heavy duty shelf and rod bracket. The bracket was strong and painted very well. I bought 4 brackets and a heavy duty white 6 foot rod and end pieces. My brother and I installed them with no problems what-so-ever until we came to installing the rods on to the white plastic rod holders. The rods pop into the brackets as advertised but 2 of the brackets broke where they attached to the metal part of the rod bracket. One side of the plastic portion of the 2 rod brackets simply popped off. We managed to get the plastic rod holders stable enough to put on the rods and hang up some clothes but I need replacements for 2 plastic snap-in rod holders. Home Depot told me they do not have any replacement rod holders. I copied down the information of the manufacture from the box that had the shelf and rod bracket but could not find any Closet-Max manufacture on the web. I don't understand why Closet-Max puts such a weak rod bracket on an other wise excellent product!
