Way too small, and it falls apart as you work with it because the blanket isn’t attached. Terrible product - I gave up and threw it away.

I am sorry that this blanket was too small for your water heater JJ. We do state in bold that when laid out flat on the floor, this blanket measures 48 inches by 75 inches. If 75 inches is not long enough to wrap around your water heaters tank, you just simply add another blanket and trim to fit. The blankets are held in place using tape. ValenciaPipe

It's not so "universal" as it claims. The blanket does not fully cover my 45 Gal tank. There is approximatly a 4" gap left after wrapping.

Hi Jourmungandr, The best way that we can help you to determine if this blanket will fit your water heater is to state it's dimensions in the "Product Overview" section on the website and on the product packaging. when you lay out this blanket flat on a floor it will measure 48 inches by 75 inches approximately. The fiberglass batt can be pulled or pushed to slightly change dimensions, that is why I state the dimensions as being approximate. That means that it will fit around a water heater that has a circumference of 75 inches or less. If your water heater has a diameter of 24 inches or less, this blanket will wrap around it. Hi HomeDepotCustomer. Correct, this is a trim to fit water heater blanket. It is 48 inches tall by 75 inches across. If that is too long for your water heater, you just simply trim it using scissors. ValenciaPipe

Hi dano, I just want to make sure that you are wrapping the blanket around with the length in the horizontal position? We try to call out that the length of this blanket is 75 inches. That means that it will wrap around a water heater that has a diameter of 24 inches or less. ValenciaPipe

I purchased this at the store & installed it yesterday. The utility room, where the water heater is, is not as warm as it used to be & I don't feel warmth on the outside of the blanket. I used to feel some warmth on the outside of the water heater itself & now, under the insulation, it's still definitely warm, so I have to assume that the radiant heat is being kept in & hope that the heater will be more efficient. My tank is 50 gallon gas, with R 6.7 rating. So far I'm very happy with the blanket but the manufacturer needs to be clearer about the measurements, as some people said it didn't fit. The blanket is 75" but it will NOT fit a tank that is 75" circunference, contrary to seller's responses. The insulation is about 1.5" thick so it adds to the size that the plastic will cover, and you DO want the plastic ends to meet. My tank is about 21" diameter, 66" circumference, & the blanket just fits without cutting or too much pulling of the ends. 75" circumference of the PLASTIC would cover about 24" diameter, which is what my tank now measures when adding the girth from the insulation. Most people won't think to do the math so the seller needs to be a little better in responding, & perhaps could add these numbers to it's labeling. Th fact that it doesn't go down all the way is fine, as the very bottom of most tanks houses the heating element, not the hot water. Some tips for installation, in case it helps anyone. I'm a senior citizen & installed this by myself so take heart-you can do it, too! -Take photos of all labels on the tank, especially lighting instructions, model #, serial # and manufacturing date. Print photos & put in plastic bag & attach to tank. You never know when you may need this info! -The fiberglass insulation is slippery on the tank so it was easier to tape the top parts together, lift a litle, then tape some more. By the time I taped down to the part over the knobs it stayed in place enough for me to then tape the top with duct tape (not enough other tape included) so that I didn't have exposed fiberglass, & the blanket stayed in place & looks better. So far duct tape holds when the tank heats up. -If you have to trim it do it while it's around the heater, if possible, as it's a nuisance to work in small spaces and wrap it again. Also, the plastic will detach somewhat with too much handling & you will get more fiberglass on you. -Wear some rubber gloves (hair color, mechanics, surgical) & a nylon or other slippery jacket so that the fiberglass doesn't stick to you. I removed the gloves eventually but kept the windbreaker on. -Cut strips of the tape ahead of time as you have to peel the backing off. Attach one tip of the tape to a nearby surface for easy access. Hope this helps someone.

not a heavy duty blanket. Price is good, tape works well and size is as represented. Easy to install if you wipe your tank down first so there isn't any dust to prevent the tape from adhereing properly. I used mine for my well tank as the waterheater blanket was big enough to wrap my tank ... for 22.00. Well tank covers were for a 26" diameter tank and 123.00 each...my tank is 84" around!!

Used this on a low boy water heater that is 77+ inches around. The height is only 38 inches so there was enough material to trim 10” off one side to fill the gap where it didn’t meet encircling the tank. I did need a lot of extra duct tape to secure the insulation tightly in place. Good 9 R-value.

This blanket is only vinyl covered on 1 side so fiberglass comes off when trying to install it. My water heater uses boiler water to heat domestic water and there are pipes coming out of the side, so I had to trim around them which was very difficult with this .item. It resulted in a sloppy job. Also insulation gets all over your body. I will get one that does not use fiberglass.

This would be a better product if it fit. On a standard 50G electric water heater is was 12+" too short. Had I known this I would have purchased one from my plumbing supply house. They are usually large enough that you have to trim to fit. The everbilt product probably works on a gas heater but not electric.

I'm sorry that the Everbilt blanket did not fit Kooch. We try to make the dimensions stand out. 75 inches long by 48 inches high. The 75 inches length means that it will wrap around a water heater with a 75 inch circumference. If your water heater has a diameter of 24 inches or less, this blanket will wrap around it.
