Needs redesign
I can't figure out how this saves water. This thermostat valve shuts off at about 110 degrees. With most showers, you have to guess at the handle angle when you first turn the shower on, and if you end up setting it to a 'warm' temperature less than 110 degrees, the valve never shuts off. If you set the handle to the 'correct' temperature, you are still dumping cold water down the drain, which wastes water. If you set the handle to Hot, then the valve shuts off before the hot water gets fully hot. The pull handle is a rubber band. There is no way to index the valve. It adds considerable length to the shower head, and in my installation, that means the shower head is too low. It adds lots of leverage to the shower arm. I also realized that this puts full water pressure on the riser tube, which usually never has any significant pressure, which could lead to leaks behind the wall. Functionally, this does exactly what it says it does, but because it does not save water, and can cause leaks, I do not recommend it.

Quick setup, easy to use!
I received this Evolve Technologies ShowerStart Thermostatic Valve as part of the HD Seeds Program. I love to take hot showers. And I'm like everyone else in that I turn the shower on and wait for the water to get hot. But every now and then I forget that I have the shower on when I walk out of the master bathroom. If I happen to go into the living room, I can't hear the shower running. I space. And then upwards of 10 minutes will pass before I'm suddenly like, "CRAP!!" What a waste. So this lil invention is a life-saver for me. It took literally 3 minutes to hook it up. Took off the showerhead, threaded some pipe tape around the extension coming from the wall, hooked up the thermostatic valve (hand-tighten only), more tape around the bottom of the valve, reconnect the showerhead. Done. I turned the water to about 80% hot to test it. Within 30 seconds the valve had closed and the water slowed to a trickle. Now I don't have to sweat forgetting that I left the shower running. A quick pull of the lever and in about 2-3 seconds I have hot water again. No more waste! Highly recommend!

Great Idea but it Doesn't Work
I was looking into ways to save water from constantly running in the shower. Mainly the item I was searching for was a showerhead or a part that would have an "off" button to stop the water flow while showering. This little TSV3 Valve would help save water after it turned hot and I would no longer need to stand there checking the temp. I love the idea of the water changing to a trickle when the temp gets hot. This is a GREAT idea, but this little gadget just won't work. I have followed the instructions, which are so simple. Remove shower head, add/replace plumber tape (which is included in the box) to the threads on the pipe from wall, and to the valve. Hand tighten the shower head to the valve and then hand tighten both to the wall pipe. NOTE: I was not able to get the valve to sit on either side of the pipe as per the instructions, the left side it was too loose and the right would have to be forced tighter. However, I am able to pull the string to activate the release knob. I turned on the hot water and when it got hot, the water went off and immediately turned right back on. I also turned on the cold water only, then slowly turned on the hot. When it gets hot, the water flow stays on. I will add a video and you can see the splash of water pressure. (if the link doesn't work search for: Evolve Technologies ShowerStart TSV3 Thermostatic Valve-Hot Water Saver on YouTube) I don't like giving such a low rating, but it just will not work. I give it 2 stars for the great idea.

Disappointed
It was so nice to receive my Evolve Technologies ShowerStart TSV3 Thermostatic Valve-Hot Water Saver. It came with good instructions so installing it was pretty easy. I was surprised that it came with teflon tape for the pipe threads. It took about 10 minutes to complete the installation. I turned the shower on and the water came out of the shower like normal until the water got hot. When the water was hot the water flow slowed down a lot, but I was surprised it didn't slow the flow down more. I pulled the chain thing and the shower had full flow again. As I said before it was disappointing that the flow didn't slow down to a drip or completely off.

Works great
This little hot water saver is really nice to have. It has changed my habits while preparing to take a shower. It came with all the clear instructions needed. The instruction sheet is bilingual. The most important instruction, about only hand tightening the saver, is repeated on a sticker on the saver itself. Plenty of pipe tape is included for tape on both sides of the hot water saver. I installed the hot water saver on the outgoing side of the diversion valve I have. That could defeat the purpose of the hot water saver if I forget to set the diversion valve correctly before turning on the hot water. I think I have my habit down for how to set the diversion valve, but sometimes I find I have forgotten. Having the hot water saver where it is makes the pull cord more accessible. I learned that when I use the diversion valve the hot water saver cools off. When I turn the diversion valve back, I have to the pull the cord again to have the water flow. That might be a great feature if I decide I want to save water for a short time. This is working great.

Awesome Product for All Showers
I chose the Evolve Technologies ShowerStart TSV3 Thermostatic Valve-Hot Water Saver to use for our master bedroom shower. This is so easy to install and is very environmentally friendly. You attach to your shower head and turn the water on. When the water reaches the correct temperature, the water stops until you pull the cord. This is the perfect shower accessory for any shower.

Great unit
We got this to add to our bathroom shower head. I am not sure How it works but you turn on the water and once it gets warm then the water turns off and you flip the valve and you have plenty of hot water. It works well even if I don’t understand it. I was very easy to install. This product more than met our expectations even if we weren’t sure what it was in the beginning

Good Shower water saver
We had another evolve hot water saver on our daughter's shower and not with our teenager son entering the multiple daily shower phase, we needed another saver. This model is plastic, but otherwise works the same as our other metal version. Very light, but works well. When the water heats up, the flow slows to a dribble - hard to see but in the attached picture. When our teenager is really getting in the shower, he pulls the cord and the flow is restores - the other picture.

Neat Device
This Evolve Technologies ShowerStart TSV3 Thermostatic Valve-Hot Water Saver works quite well. Probably not untypical our shower is a fair distance from the hot water heater so the water runs cold for a while before getting warm enough. It was easy to install with the provided Teflon tape and performed as described. I had some concern that the water coming right after the valve was tripped open would turn too hot but I set the supply valves to about the same position I would without the ShowerStart and the water was just about the right temperature. Neat device.

I just got myself 2 different styles of this thermostatic value hot water saver. And I must say they sure do what the say they going to do. I turned the shower on all the way hot water. When the water gets hot and automatically shut off the water and then I'll walk right into the shower pull the little handle and there it goes nice warm shower. I have gotten 2 different styles of these hot water valve. Once to keep my existing shower head and the 2nd one is gonna replace my shower head. Take a look at the pictures

great little device
I chose this product to use at my cottage in the guest bathroom because I always worry that if a few people are going to take showers, the last person won't have hot water because guests tend to turn on the shower and then do other things before they get in. This will save money by not wasting hot water but that wasn't my primary reason for wanting this. I just wanted to make sure my guests had enough hot water (I have a 40 gallon water heater) for their morning showers. This device was super easy to install (less than 5 minutes including removing current shower head). It's plastic and lightweight so I'm not sure how long it will hold up but for the price, it's not something I'm worried about. It would be nice if it came in other colors like matte black, bronze etc. so it will match current color of shower heads. When your water reaches 95 degrees, the device reduces flow to a trickle and then, when you're ready to shower, you pull the cord (which is a little too long for my liking) and your desired water temperature will resume its flow. I think this device is well worth getting to reduce the chance of running out of hot water!!!

Consumer level.
Fist off this works well and does its job. having several of these in our home i notice this version is a price point offering. The feel is light material of chromed plastic with a cooper thermostatic valve . Unlike my others that are stainless with cooper and brass fittings. Good or bad just a fyi! When it's in the flow position it doesn't take away from your water pressure. When in the restricted flow water is at or about 95 and is cut back to a dribble. Pull the lever and your at full pressure to take your shower. There is no scald protection so setting the water is important when you turn on your water. If you go full hot walk away it turn off at 95 the hot water could build up and come all at once when you pull the lever. If your looking to save water and have a tendency to turn on the water and walk away to let the water rise , excellent product.

Fantastic thermostat valve
This chrome color thermostatic valve is ideal for anybody that hates waiting for the hot water to come out. The product comes with the valve and some plumbers tape for installation purposes. The plumbers tape is a plus and a surprise. Installation took no more than two minutes. It takes a minute for you to get used to the fact that you don’t have to run from the shower when you Turn the valve on. The valve comes with a little pull handle that you pull to release before so the pressure of the warm water is released. Overall I like the product and like the fact that I don’t have to stand there for 10 seconds while cold water is poured on me.

Water saver
This thermostatic valve will save you money on your water bill for sure .Its very easy to install and doesn't lower the water pressure or the flow from your shower head and can save a 1000 gallons of of water and also saves energy to to heat up the water . You just simply turn on your shower and and as the water warms up the flow reduces to a trickle until you are ready to take your shower and then pull the cord and water flow will resume to normal with your desired hot water .

Pull cord looks goofy but it works!
So far so good with this Evolve ShowerStart TSV3. It does what it says. Basically it reduces the water wasted that occurs between the time the water is turned on and you get into the shower. You turn on the water and it runs until the water is hot. Once hot, the water drizzles until you’re ready to get in, which is where the water savings comes in. Once in the shower, you gently pull the rubber tassel and the flow changes from the slow drizzle to full pressure. All that said, I don’t know how much water we’ll actually save since we’re always in a rush and therefore anxiously standing next to the shower waiting to get in. Perhaps it will pay off in the long run. In the meantime, my other half isn’t thrilled at how the pull handle looks dangling from the shower head. Installation was simple and took less than 5 minutes since no tools are required and plummer’s tape is included. Just a few important things worth pointing out, this thing requires a minimum static water pressure of 30 PSI, it's made of plastic, has a Prop65 warning, and should not be used with tankless hot water heaters. Too bad I didn’t come up with this invention.

Wish I had this when my kids were still home!
ShowerStart TSV3 is a nifty little life-hack that forever changes the things that annoy you most about your shower. This item allows us to use our fancy shower heads while still benefiting from this new technology. Gone are the days of standing around waiting for the water to get hot. Gone are the days of family members letting the shower run endlessly, when no one's in it. Gone are the days getting the last shower of the morning and running out of hot water. Installation is about as easy as changing a lightbulb, doesn't lower showerhead pressure or flow and saves 1000 of Gal. of water, as well as the energy used to heat it-year, after year, after year. How ShowerStart TSV3 works: Turn on the shower. Cold water exits. Continue with your typical routine-the things you do while waiting for the shower to become warm. ShowerStart kicks in. When the water reaches 95 degree F, ShowerStart automatically lowers the flow to a trickle-saving hot water until you're ready to get in. Ready when you are. You know your shower is warm, so pull the cord to resume full flow and begin showering.Very satisfied with this product and I have recommended. Wish I had this when my kids were still home!

Works as advertised and helps save water
This is a nice little device that will automatically turn down the water flow to a trickle once it is warm enough. I mounted this on a shower head in just a couple of minutes using only my hands and what was included in the box, and with no leaks. In side the box is the unit plus a length of teflon tape long enough to give each joint a few wraps. Simply remove the shower head, wrap the male end from the wall and the male end on the valve, then screw everything back together hand tight. To use, simply turn on the shower and wait for the valve to reduce the water flow to a trickle. This indicates the water has reached a sufficient heat. When ready to shower, pull the cord and the water will resume it's full flow. As noted on the box ... this is NOT an anti-scald device. It only acts as an indicator hot water has reached the valve and then it reduces the flow to save energy while still keeping the water hot. I don't expect it to last long as it made with a lot of plastic. But .. to be fair, a metal one I used to have didn't last long either as it gummed up after a few years.

Easy installation and operation
This is a really great idea that saves on both water usage and water heating bills. When you turn on the shower it lets the cold water pass through, but when the hot water finally gets to the shower head it shuts the water flow down to a trickle. That eliminates wasted water (and hot water) but allows enough flow so that the water stays hot – whether you’re standing right there waiting or you got distracted for twenty minutes. When you're ready just pull the cord and get full flow hot water instantly. The TSV3 valve is perfect if you already have a shower head with a hose attachment or a nice massage shower head and all you want is the thermostatic valve. Installation takes a few minutes and teflon tape is included in the package to ensure a watertight fit.

Great for saving hot water
I added this Evolve thermostatic valve to my existing shower head and I liked the result. When I turned on the water, I stepped away for a minute or two and when the shower got to temperature, the water turned off and waited for me to pull the handle to start the flow of water again. This will Save quite a bit of hot water. Many times my shower runs for a couple minutes before I get in and the hot water is flowing. Now I don’t have to worry about wasting hot water.

Works just as described but plastic and lets a lot of water flow after it reaches temp
I was really skeptical of ordering this saver. No tools needed. Un-thread and remove your shower head, Put teflon tape (included) on the shower arm (the part coming out of the wall) and on the male threaded part of the water saver. Screw the saver on the arm then the shower head onto the saver and your done. turn your shower on and set to where you normally do. Once it reaches temp it automatically shuts off. You step into the shower and pull the cord and you get hot water right away. When you're done with your shower just turn it off like normal and it's ready to go for the next shower. It will save money, not much but the water you waste each day when you have your water running to get hot and it keeps running until you get in. That's not a lot of money but it will be a fair amount over the year. Same to be said for your power bill. If the water heater is running after it's hot, you're wasting the power used to heat it, gas or electric. It's a cool gadget but I don't anticipate any huge savings and it almost shuts the water off but it keeps dripping. I'm also concerned that the area with the rubber strap attaches to the saver's lever might not last.

This is a good product to by. When the water is hot it shut off you pull the string to start water. It does save you water if you have kids or people that turn the water on then walk away to do other things. I recommend it. We had another one for years replaced that one for this one since we were remolding bathroom.
