Works Well
Purchased this to match new black gutters for rain barrel. Install was easy and I like having the clean out. Only issue is the screws that came with rusted in less than a year. Regardless, it does what it needs to do.

The diverter adapter is too small to fit over the cut downspout. So you have to squeeze the end of the spout to fit into the adapter. This is not mentioned in the instructions. I wonder how many are returned because of this. The adapter should be a slight bit larger.

The filter allowed some small particles to enter the rain barrel. Only ~20% of the water volume through the gutter actually is diverted to the rain barrel. But it fills fast ... after one short thunder storm, the barrel was half full.

excellent product, and a great idea!
There is a plethora of products on the market that are designed to divert rain water from your downspout to the rain barrel. We chose this one for several reasons: it is easy to install, it has a filter that keep debris away, and the main thing for me was that it diverts water into the barrel, and when the barrel is full it channels it back into the downspout, so that you don't have to worry about it running who knows where from your overflow valve. We din't even install one, because it is not needed in our application!

    Nice design
A well designed product which seems to work well. I found from the other reviews that it is best assembled to your downspout with a sealer - I used clear silicone. The install instructions are very clear and I found it easy to install. The first time it rained I completely filled my 50 gal rain barrel. The diverter allowed the excess water to drain back into the downspout so it works well. I'd like to see a variety of colors, black is a bit prominent.

    Works great!
The Fiskars Diverter really works! After reading that other diverters required a sealed barrel, I was happy that this one did not. Just make sure that the diverter is installed at about the same height as the hose connector on the barrel and it will work as advertised. I own two of these and the barrels they're connected to were filled quickly during the first rainstorm. I have 2x3-inch downspouts so I had to use the included adapters. The instructions were reasonably clear, so installation was easy enough.

Essential to maximize water conservation for every California home.
Easy to install. Rested flat against the wall giving max storage in minimum space. Required shortening the downspout which was simple because of the plastic Home Depot product.

EASY to install. Does exactly what it is supposed to!
This was very easy to install, and collects water exactly as it is supposed to do. I actually purchased two, one for each side of my house, and when I add collection capacity, I will certainly at least one more. I will say, check your drain spouts... If they are grounded, be careful when you cut the downspout! Mine were grounded and as soon as I cut the down spout, I got a shock from the top part of the spout (as it was not grounded once I made the cut) . This was resolved easily enough by using some wire and self tapping screws and creating an electrical ground connection between the top half and bottom half. (In the photo you can see that I grounded the top half by running a wire to my house ground until I was finished. Now I simply have a piece of wire running between the top and bottom half.

Works pretty well, looks great painted to match house
This allowed me to catch 50 gallons of water in a moderately heavy southern California rain in about 2 hours. Very impressive. Only gave it 4 stars because it will not redirect water into the rain barrel if the rain is too light, even while water is obviously passing through the diverter. In a drought, every potential drop of water matters, so I wish this was capable of capturing water more efficiently. Also, caulking is required in order to ensure that water doesn't leak from downspout on the underside.

    Gorilla tape test
Recommend yes, But! I thought I had a 2" x 3" drain spout but it's actually 2 1/2" x 3 1/4" and this system isn't very flexible on sizes. (2x3 or 3x4) - Luckily I had some tin snips and a fine blade hacksaw, not to mention a roll of Gorilla Tape to modify the size of my aluminium drain pipe. A few minutes of tin knocking and taping and good to go. I didn't follow Fiskars instructions for height of cuts on the drainpipe, I just made sure that the transfer hose was slightly above the rain barrels fill port. That night we had a 1" rainstorm, easily filled the 50 gallon RTS barrel.

A bit flimsy, gets the job done, caulking required
The diverter works, but not as well as I might have hoped. First, when it is filling the barrel, there is still quite a bit of water that will flow past the internal mechanism and on down the downspout. This is not a problem in rainy Arkansas where my 60 gallon rain barrel was filled in a four hour downpour, but in more arid climates you might wish every drop was headed to the barrel. Also, while the fit at the top and bottom of the diverter (onto the downspout) is snug, because the downspout has ridges, caulking is necessary to try to stem the flow out and down the side of the downspout. Finally, when you open the transparent cover and pull out the filter, the product seems a bit flimsy and I tend to worry that I will break the transparent cover. All in all, it gets the job done, although the quality is a bit low.

    Decent product
This diverter works as described. I have this mounted on a 3x4 downspout and attached to a series of wooden wine casks irrigating my gardens. The only addendum I would add is to seal it with a waterproof silicone. In moderate to heavy rain it will leak, splash out the top seam or the bottom. I think Fiskars could build this a bit more sturdy.

    No hassle rain diverter.
I bought this so I wouldn't have an overflowing rain barrel putting water down onto my foundation during a heavy rain. It quickly fills by barrel and then diverts the water back into the rain gutter. It has a "V" shape built into it and during a heavy storm water shoots over the "V" and into the gutter while still allowing water to flow into the attached hose and into the barrel. Once the barrel is full the water continues to divert over the "V" and back into the gutter. There is a nice little viewing window you can pop off to see the action. As a modification we used self-tapping screws to suck the gutter tight to the fitting and a little silicon around the edge. You may wish to dismantle it for winter to preserve it from harm. Just buy an extra section of 3-4 foot piece of gutter to attach and drop it down into the pipe in the ground and you are all set.

    It does what it says
My problem was to supply water to my outside planter located on my below grade driveway apron. The solution was a cistern and downspout diverter. Installation was pretty easy, following the instructions. The only issues being both my down spout and PVC receiver were fixed. By removing the rib on the diverter which prohibited the downspout from sliding too far down into the adaptor it allowed me to slide the adapter up the downspout giving me the clearance needed to insert the diverter; sliding the adapter down again completing the assembly. The diverter filled the cistern and its filter stopped all the maple tree helicopter seeds from getting into the reservoir. I’m a happy camper and would recommend this product.

So far so good. We had new gutters installed earlier this month, and I purchased this to be installed at that time. Installation went well. Seems easy to connect/disconnect. Will know for sure when I connect it in the spring. Really appreciated the info on the HD website, especially the video.

I'm a little disappointed in the volume of water that comes out of the diverter .I Feel the opening should be at least a minimum of 2 in in diameter and also feel that it should come with a second hose and adapter fitting for a second Barrel that it demonstrates, because half of the water is bypassi
