These are great! I got a small quantity for a closet but they've landed on my painted stairwell instead. They look really nice, fit the stairs perfectly in depth, and are easily trimmed to fit my more narrow width second flight. They are super easy to put down and pull back up. I am loving these because they're soft on the feet while cushioning and quieting the walk up/down the steps. An appreciated household improvement. They'll be easy to pull up and clean when the cats pick the steps to make a mess. They do shed a little initially, but are easy to hand vac or sweep off. This color doesn't go the best with my existing 1st floor lighter-colored pecan wood flooring, but I hadn't intended to use the two in combination. The color is still pretty. If you are considering these, there are also other shades to chose from.

I used these to cover my painted stairs and also used them for a separate project on a regular room floor. I am loving the covered steps. They look good and are much more quiet. For the bedroom floor, I placed these over laminate flooring and found it was more difficult placing them side by side than it was for a single strip on the stairs. The carpet is excellent quality but the edges of the strips don't mesh together as nicely as expected. The carpet fibers run in a direction that fits best when lined up. The edges of the strips are meshing together better with wear, but are still noticeable. It's not totally unsightly, but it is obvious that they're pieced together. I also have concerns over the adhesive, which is just one strip of tape that runs across the center of the piece. Vacuuming these with hard suction and a beater bar is not advisable. I use a robot vac. These are an amazing, innovative idea, and the carpet itself feels soft and looks great, but keeping them adhered may be an ongoing job. These do come with 4 extra adhesive tabs per box.

Floorigami's carpet tiles are amazingly thick and plush. Their 9"x36" planks are easily pieced together side by side, and look absolutely gorgeous. A center line strip of taping runs the length of each carpet plank securing it to any hard surface. Extra tape is included in each box, but any double sided floor tape can be used for extra strong holding in place. Adjusting the size of each carpet plank is quick by cutting with a utility knife. What's really remarkable about Floorigami's carpet tiles is the ability for any DIY person to lay carpet. The boxes can be carried individually around from room to room or you can stack a whole bunches of boxes on a dolly to transport. It's such an easy way to carpet a room. I love it.

I waited a while to write up this review to allow a little time to see how this carpeting is holding up (just fine by the way). The Shaw Flooring's Floorigami carpet plank is a great concept for the DIYer that so far delivers pretty good results! The "planks" are 9" x 36" carpet tiles with a smooth un-cushioned synthetic backing that has a 1/2" wide peel and stick adhesive strip running down the middle of the long dimension. They are shipped in sturdy 6 piece boxes that are quite easy to handle. Installation is easy providing you have a smooth and thoroughly clean surface to work with. Shaw provides a short but pretty good instructional video clip that is informative and easy to follow. I carpeted our 13' x 13' play room in an afternoon. Here are my thoughts. Do a really good job of cleaning the surface you will be covering - I think damp mopping is better than just sweeping for your floor prep. Definitely locate the room's center and use a chaulk line. This will enable easy measuring to the edges of the room so you can adjust the exact location of your starting tile line so that you don't end up with a 2" final strip of planking at each wall edge like I initially did. Shaw doesn't address this in the video but if you ever have done any tiling you will know what I'm talking about. If your room has shoe molding you might want to consider pulling it up. I left mine but I'm thinking now I should have removed it. A few of the boxes contained an additional four sticker sheet of 3-M double sided tape - a great idea - I just wish there was one in each box. There seems to be a slight 'grain' to some the pieces - double check the way each plank marries up to it's neighbor visually before you place it permanently. I had 11% waste by the time I was finished (slight learning curve plus four doorways and a radiator). Vacuuming sucked up a couple of corners during cleanup but a price of double sided tape solved the issue in each case. I wish the backing was a little thicker and spongier (sp?) but it's not a deal breaker for me. I'm not sure I would install this in a high traffic or primary use room but it's doing a fine job in our play room.

Pros Easy to Install, Effective, High Quality of Material, easy diy installation Cons a slight pattern shows through in some places

These are a cool idea for rooms where you don't want to lay an entire roll of carpet, or just want to cover certain areas, like under desks, as accent areas, or create area rugs that stay in place until you want to move them such as under sinks and in doorways where slipping is a concern. Each case has 6 tiles, covering 13.5 square feet. Tiles can be cut to fit as needed. They cut with strong industrial scissors or a carpet knife, box knife. Remove the clear adhesive cover and lay them down, walk on them to secure the adhesive. If you want to remove them, just slowly peel up. They do include 4 squares of new 3M adhesive pads to replace a tile if needed. The carpet in this particular style is about 1/2" thick total, a nice pile, loose and soft under foot. It feels great over old linoleum. Much warmer on the feet than bare tile and knowing I can remove them if they get stained, ripped or worn down is most excellent. I also like the secure adhesive, if I turn or move fast the rug won't fly out from under me. They vacuum easily since they don't move out of place and the seams mostly disappear after a few days of walking and vacuuming. I highly recommend them. Easy to use, super easy to install and replaceable on a whim, or if needed due to damage.

This mirage color is a mirage because the actual color is undetectable. I would say it is gray, but it is such a melange of colors that it's really hard to describe. Regardless, it is definitely a neutral color that will go with just about anything. I really like these carpet tiles, especially with kids and pets, for the ease of cleaning. You could pretty much remove the entire floor, clean it, and put it back if you really needed to. As far as installation goes, as long as your sub-floor is clean (so that the adhesive can properly stick), you're ready to go. You start installing tiles in the middle of the room rather than at one end. The texture of the shag is such that once the carpets are placed together, the seam virtually disappears.

Floorigami carpet planks provide a good and quality alternative to the cumbersome carpet roll for the DIY person for certain rooms or areas. This is especially the case when the room is full of furniture or “items” that cannot be conveniently removed in total or when the room has tight spots, changing width, and inside and outside corners. There is no pad with the planks; so the “cushion” or “plush pile” effect is not the goal. However, it does soften and provide warmth for hard surface floors. The planks are 9” X 36” and come 6 per box, and will cover 13.5 square feet. So you have to measure the area to be carpeted to determine the number of boxes needed. Order a little more than needed for “mistakes” and for future replacement. Hard surface floors like concrete just need to be clean. Bare wood floors may require additional preparation. I had a “good stuff” storage room which also included a play area. It had a concrete floor and it was not convenient to move all of the stuff to another room. So I decided to move stuff to one side, lay the planks on the vacated area, sweep, then move the stuff back. This was the method used for the entire room. It worked. The planks permitted the flexibility of partitioning the work. This would not have been feasible with a carpet roll. There is an adhesive strip down the middle of the plank which sticks the plank to the surface and keeps it from sliding or moving. However, the adhesive is not “permanent” in the sense that the plank can be “peeled up” later for cleaning or replacement. If you run into a section or spot that requires a more heavy duty adhesion, a good double sided carpet tape could be used just for that portion. I slid boxes over the installed planks and they stayed in place. Heavy items can be moved easily with Teflon sliders. The seams overall were not noticeable, and the finished floor looked great. I would not say that carpet planks are alternatives to padded or plush carpet for bedrooms, living rooms, or other areas where the goal is a plush or cushiony feel. They are great for rec rooms, storage rooms, office area, and similar rooms that have hard surfaces and just need a quality covering for appearance, warmth and comfort, but is easy to install and easy to remove if and when a new look is desired. I recommend the Floorigami carpet tile planks for those areas.
