These are not a 100% match, and poor value

I would not recommend these shingles if you're just going to be patching singles of the older shingle siding. These might be better for large sections in an area where it will only be these new type, and not the old ones mixed in. Especially don't install these in an area that is very visible to the public and that gets a lot of direct sunlight. I installed these to replace a section of old broken shingles, but they must absorb light more than the old type because at different angles they look matte compared to what is on the wall, even after two coats of premium exterior satin paint overt the whole wall. They're also very expensive...$6.76 per shingle before tax. In the future, I will be calling around to find a new manufacturer of replacement shingles. Also, these replacement shingles break VERY easily compared to the old stuff, and the grooves are not a perfect match. The only reason I'm giving this product two stars is because of how great Home Depot is with delivery of the product - very quick and convenient and ordering is easy.

Hello, we're sorry for your experience, but there's not really a way to guarantee a perfect match to old, non-existent siding shingles. There were many manufacturers and even more sizes and styles. These shingles are designed to be as close as possible to some of the older common styles, but again, not a perfect match.

Perfect match for the old, existing shingles

These shingles were a perfect match to the old shingles on the house. They are somewhat gray in color so I will be painting everything to match. The price was a shock but there aren't many suppliers of this product so they can get whatever the market will bear. I use a tile wet saw to cut these so every cut was perfect. At $8 per shingle I couldn't afford breaks and mistakes. I used a masonry bit to drill holes on the cut tiles. As long as the hole is supported on four sides and you use medium, steady pressure; you should have no problems with breaks. Have them delivered to the store and open the boxes in the store before you take them home. They are very-well packaged but they can still break if the boxes are mishandled. Again...$8 each.
