Solid transfer switch
Gauge is thick, hefty for its size. I use it between my main panel and sub panel that feed critical circuits. In my case its main purpose is for maintenance, if I have to service my inverter or batteries I can transfer back to main panel.

GE100 Amp No-fuse Emergency Power Transfer Switch
After researching ways to hook up my portable generator to my home this product was by far the easiest way of disconnecting my utility service and allowing me to hook up my generator. No need for rewiring the electrical panel's or moving circuits around. Install, then turn on only needed circuits your generator will support. Easy to install with 3-gauge copper wire for 100 amps, add generator hook up socket, then your good for next power outage.

Home Depot had the best price for this product and it works great.
So i installed a new 30kw genset and just wanted a less expensive correct way to switch power to the house. This did the job and was easy to install and worked perfectly.

We live in South Texas and have our share of hurricanes. In addition, the Texas power grid has not been winterized as recommended in a previous study over ten years. This failure by our state government led to massive power outages throughout the state during the Texas freeze in March of 2021. Hundreds of Texans died because they were unable to keep themselves warm. The Texas freeze was a horrible experience one I hope never to experience again. For these reasons my wife and I decided to install a manual transfer switch with a generator plug. The 100 amp transfer switch works exactly as it was designed. I did not want to spend a substantial amount of money for an automatic transfer switch which can easily reach a couple of thousand of dollars. I spent less than three hundred dollars on the hardware and all I need to do is plug in the generator and pull the lever to the down position. My only regret, was that I used a 30 amp plug and will probably switch it to a 50 amp plug should I decide to buy a bigger generator. We have a small home, and had already purchased a 6500 Kilowatt (Running rating) 30 amp plug connector. However, electrician, made sure to use the proper gauged wire in order to accommodate a 50 amp plug in the future. The installation took approximately three hours. I strongly encourage everyone to make sure all permits from the city are obtained and verified. You should also make sure if inspections by the city and the power company will be necessary prior to the re-connection of main power-line. Document who you spoke to regarding post inspections. We encountered issues with post installation inspections and had no electricity for two days.

I have this on my 5th wheel between a breaker box and a 13k generator. Works great. Wife has no issue with power at any time. Made labels for the direction of the handle on the box. RV can ONLY be powered by one or the other. NO BACK FEED into power grid no harm workers on power lines. I HAVE recommended this to friends many times... AND STILL DO

It's a transfer switch, nothing fancy just a 100 Amp manual transfer switch. The housing is solid and is a good size so there is plenty of room for the wiring.

This transfer switch is WAY too big. It weighs a ton and is huge, while being filled mostly with empty air inside. Home Depot was great to work with when ordering and shipping this device, but the device itself looks like it was designed in the 1940's and has not been revised since.

Unable to change the STAR rating from EXCELLENT to GOOD. The transfer switch works well. The screws for the blank cover on top were not self taping and the holes were not taped so I had to stop my work and get a tap to install the blank cover. The clip that holds the cover closed is not installed properly and will not keep the lid secured unless you install a clip or pad lock.

I am puzzled that only one side of the box had a conduit knock-out that is up to 1.5in in size. The other side was limited to 1.25in and that limitation forced me to re-site the box from my original plan. The selector handle is a bit small in size and should be a bit longer to allow for better leverage in positively seating the contact blades in the box when selecting either "ON" position. Better yet, spring-loading the contact blades would better ensure positive engagement when moving from position to position. It would be prudent to provide a cover of some sort to the exposed blades of the movable contact bars - - I have opted to place a lock on the box to prevent unauthorized people opening it.

          Best value, compact size
Utilized as transfer switch for backup power system with multiple sources (multiple units required). Larger wiring lugs would be nice. They accomodate the NEC minimum 60°C wire size for the 100A device rating but no consideraton for larger wire necessitated by derating due to temperature, length of run, multiple wires in conduit, voltage drop, etc. 2 sizes larger would make a huge difference.

          Solid Product
This is a solid switch with plenty of room for routing the heavy wires needed to support the 100 amp rating. Best of all, it is made in the USA.

Best way to disconnect your utility service to your home!
After researching ways to hook up my portable generator to my home this product was by far the easiest way of disconnecting my utility service and allowing my generator to take over. No need for rewiring the electrical panel's or moving circuits around. Shortly after installing this transfer switch my power went out and it work flawlessly. I am very pleased at the price and quality this product provides.

This is being used for a solar system install for manual bypass of the inverter for downtime events, the GE manual switch is well built, heavy gage metal box and the switch and ground/neutral bar contacts are robust and well manufactured, highly recommended!!

Well built but way too pricey however it was expensive everywhere I could find it - HD was the least expensive. Couple my military discount, this made it almost, but not quite reasonable. Delivery was awful from FedEx - but FedEx is horrible in my area. Half of my packages never make it to my home. I had three deliveries this week from Home Depot and only one (Vevor 50 amp, 50 ft cable) was delivered to the correct house. This unit was delivered to a vacant house down the street, and another box was delivered to my next door neighbor. I'd really buy more home deliveries from Home Depot if they'd change to a different parcel carrier like UPS or DHL.

Shipping was fast as advertised. The product was in perfect condition, and it works well. It’s an alternative to a manual interlock kit if you want to hook up a portable generator. Stay safe with your projects.
