We replaced a Whirlpool Hood with this good looking GE Hood. We needed a carpenter for the installation. The old one had a 6 “ duct and the new GE has an 8” duct which is more efficient! Even on high it is not nearly as noisy as the old one. You’ll hear it less on medium and hardly at all on low. The 15 minute delay auto shutoff is a useful feature. The remote is convenient. And the light has 2 levels too. Finally I can really see what I’m cooking! We are pleased with this Hood! Tip: Be sure to measure correctly from the desired wall mount height to your ceiling and order the one with the correct size snorkel. We ordered for 9 foot ceiling and had to raise the mount to avoid ordering a new hood duct snorkel to close a gap. We added cherry to match our cabinets and it looks fine. Our old one was mounted right above the tile.
Looks Luxurious, LED Lights, Remote Control, Wi-fi
The hood it looks and works spectacular, it's not too loud. We love the fact it has bright LED lights, the button give you the feeling of high quality buttons. It comes with the remote control and it has built in wi-fi to control lights and fan. Great features for a beautifull hood :)
Looking for right stove hood fan for our ecliptic backsplash wasn’t easy. Working with an interior designer, we settled on lines and angles that would compliment the tiles. Plus wanting a product that is of good quality and compatible with our other appliances. Since we have GE in our home it was an easy decision.

5 Stars for looks, 1 Star for quality and performance.
This is a good looking kitchen exhaust hood with simple clean squared off lines. General Electric didn’t even put their name on the hood. It’s just straight, clean stainless steel.
It was boxed very well and arrived without any shipping damage.
High quality stainless steel looks great.
It has 3 metal grease filters which are very easy to remove and install.
The Exhaust hood can be configured for either vented (exhaust to the outside), or recirculating non-vented installations. For non-vented installations you need to install the charcoal filters which are included.
Range hoods are not easy installs. They often require drywall repair, painting, electrical work, and maybe even tile work depending on your back splash. They are easier to install in new construction where the cabinets, range top or stove, and back splash are not in place yet.
The unit comes with a paper template for marking hole locations (See Photo). This eliminates measuring errors.
They recommend two people or more to install this heavy unit, but my installer was able to lift and install the exhaust hood by himself, and this was installed over a glass range top! He placed 2 4x4 wood blocks on each side of the range top and placed a 1 inch thick piece of plywood across them to protect the range top. It worked out perfectly. Don’t forget to remove the metal shipping bracket prior to use (See Photo).
After it was installed I noticed that only one of the LED lights was lighting up (See Photo). I switched the bulbs but still no light on the right side, so the bulbs were not the problem. This made me wonder about the quality control of this range hood. Wasn’t this tested at the factory? Three days later I noticed that the one light came on all by itself. I could not turn off the light with the button. Then while looking at it in amazement, the light turned off on its own. After all the time and labor it takes to install a range hood I had hoped everything would work well. It is because of the problems I am having with this product that I cannot recommend it.
The unit does not come with exhaust ducting, metal duct tape, wire nuts, or a cable strain relief coupler for the electrical connections, so make your list for the trip to Home Depot.
The exhaust is only 350 CFM which is on the low side for a kitchen exhaust. The unit operates quietly and I run mine at the High fan speed all the time since in medium and low it does not seem to exhaust the steam from a boiling pot of water very well.
They say the LED lights are dimmable, but really they only have two brightness positions, full on and then a little less bright. So pressing the ‘Light” button switches between the two levels and off. First press of the button is full brightness, press it again and it switches to less bright, press it again and it turns the light off.
The buttons on the range hood have a dim green light around the buttons showing what speed the fan is running, and if the light is on.
This range hood has a “Delayed Off” feature that you can press to have the exhaust turn off after 30 minutes. This feature does not turn the lights off.
It comes with an Infrared remote control (See Photo). This is great for disabled wheelchair users who cannot stand, or even for very short people who cannot reach up to the controls (See user tips at end of review). You must have a direct line of sight for the remote to work. It will not work from another room as some reviews claim. The remote has a Wi-Fi button but this model of range hood does not have Wi-Fi.
This hood has “Chef Connect” which is a Bluetooth® pairing feature for use with other compatible Chef Connect enabled products on a cooktop or range. I was not able to test this feature since my range top does not have this feature.
It has 3 metal grease filters which are well made, and very easy to remove and install.
Tips for using the Remote Control.
With the exhaust fan OFF:
Pressing the DOWN FAN button on the remote will turn the exhaust fan on HIGH.
Pressing the UP FAN button on the remote will turn the exhaust fan on LOW.
Each press of the button will cycle through the 3 speeds and Off positions.
This is handy for people who can’t reach the buttons on the exhaust hood and need to use the remote control.
