We were getting our counters replaced and decided to replace our 29yo cooktop in the process. I have had glass cooktops before, but always as part of a full oven unit and never one that sits alone. I love the flat buttons, so no knobs to clean around, but they do turn on easily (I've accidentally turned it on by simply laying a baking sheet on top). It can be a little challenging to clean if water boils over and I worried about it then running under the side of the cooktop to the cabinet underneath.
Installation was quick, but we did hire an electrician as it needs to be hardwired into the wall. It heats up quick and evenly. I love the multiple sized ranges to adjust. The power boil wasn't as powerful as I had hoped. Still takes several minutes to get a pot of water boiling.
Delivery was strange as it wasn't clear if they would install, but made it clear we had to verify it worked right then and there because you couldn't return it. And of course we couldn't verify because we needed an electrician to install it. So we just had to cross our fingers that it would work when we finally got it installed.
So far I really like it, it works well and looks sleek.
I had an almost identical model (this new one has a few more and newer features) that worked great for over 12 years! I only replaced it because we dropped something on it and broke the glass. If that had not happened I am guessing we would have had it another 12 years. This unit installed easily in the existing space and the smoothtop is beautiful!!
This is was a necessary upgrade in our kitchen has we were installing new counter tops and this model came with good rates as we were shopping around. Now after cooking on it for two weeks it does everything it says it will. The boiling feature I use the most and the lock mode it great when cleaning. However, I did go straight back to the store to purchase the cleaning spray and scrubbing pad since if water or a bit of food falls on the hot surface a light stain shows which is ugly to look at but must wait until surface cools to properly clean.
I dreaded going to a smooth cooktop because they looked hard to clean and when I saw them in people’s houses they often looked rough. After over six months, plus the Holidays mine looks new. I cook a lot and am not always the neatest cook. The secret seems to be using the cleaner EVERYTIME to essentially keep a coat of wax on it. So yes, you have to invest some time but you can keep it pristine. The unit itself is wonderful. Heats quickly, cooks evenly. Highly recommend!!
I really like the new cook top. I had the GE profile white for years , would not have replaced if it had not got broken by a hard object falling on the corner . After reviews I was reluctant to get this one , everyone talked about how hard it is to keep clean, I have no problems with that . Looks great , I love not having knobs in the way , it is sensitive, but the lock feature takes care of that . I highly recommend this product for ease of use and modern appearance , and oh it has Timer also , you won’t regret this purchase
This cooktop is spectacular. It took my sweet husband only 30 min to install and that's taking the old one out. I have joy joy joy down in my heart. The push button controls make it so easy to use and clean. Looking forward to Christmas dinner. We have had it for a couple of months and everything is working great.
Thanks GE and Home Depot for providing a great product!!!!
