Great washer!
This is a great washer! Lots of excellent features. It tells you when the load is done and reminds you if the damp clothes are still in the washer. The wash drum is HUGE! I love it! I can was bulky quilts and comforters for king and queens size beds.

I don’t complain but I want to save you a headache
This washer has a soap dispenser where you can dispense the entire soap bottle and it dispenses what the wash needs as it is used. Well it doesn’t work. The soap sticks to the clothes. I’ve tried different brands and all the same. I even put extra water in wash and deep fill for rinse. I hate this machine.

          Great features
I love the fact that buttons on the washer match the items you are going to wash (i.e., sheets and towels), etc. I also love the huge basket that’s big enough for me to wash my blankets and comfortable with ease.

I HAVE THE BEST WASHER AND DRYER OF ANYONE I KNOW
Seriously, I pour gallons of laundry detergent in the little dispenser thing, throw a ton of laundry in (even more than I ever could have dreamed of because it doesn’t have the stupid middle rod that twists up and ruins your clothes) and sit back and wait for the little text, that’s right, THIS WASHER TEXTS ME AND TELLS ME TO STOP BEING LAZY AND GET MY LAUNDRY! 10/10 product, great flex, super ineresting conversation piece

                    THOMAS EDISON WOULD BE PROUD!
I just recently purchased this washer and the matching dryer. If I was able tp fall in love with inanimate objects, it would be these 2 appliances. I was able to have a trial run before I purchased them while visiting my sister in North Carolina, she has the exact same pair. I was completely smitten with them. The washer had me at the rinse cycle and the dryer's musical "ON" button was "music" to my ears. When I returned from my trip I immediately headed to my favorite home improvement store and bought these 2 beauties. They were delivered today. The delivery men laughed when I told them that I had never in my life been so eager to do the laundry. I felt like a kid at Christmas. I love all of the amazing features on both of them, especially the impeller tub/washer. They both have what seems like an endless amount of very useful cycles and settings. My old washer had an agitator and it wreaked havoc on all my clothes. One of the features I was adamant about having on the dryer was a de-wrinkle setting and...you guessed it....I got my way. I'm loving everything about both appliances. Thank you GE! Note to self: Slow down....you've already washed every garment, rug, towel and rag in the whole house.

I was a whirpool appliance person until I saw this ge 5.0 washer and dryer set. I love the detergent dispense and wifi usage. I wish there was a volume on my washer but who needs when u get an alert on your phone. The dryer love the setting and it does have volume on it. Clothes dry fast...my daughter likes the lights...she trys to beat me to the washer to start the clothes....I hope this set last a pass 10 years....

                        Getting used to it
I’ve had it for two week now and I’m starting to love it. This is the first he machine I’ve ever used so it takes getting used to. Especially the stinginess with water, I had to actually read the manual to figure out the cycles I like (especially for cloth diapers). I love the capacity with this machine and I’m surprised the clothes actually get cleaned without an agitator. The machine is loud and sounds odd but I’ve read that’s normal. And just to chime in if your shorter than 5’5 you’ll need a step stool to get all you clothes out lol. Other than that it’s growing on me. And the and the soap tank is very handy. Wish they added one for the softer so I can set it and forget it lol

                          Excellent washing machine
I purchased this machine this spring and am very happy with it. The only caveat I have with it is a warning to short people -- you may need some help every once in a while. I am 5-feet-6-inches tall, and I find it difficult to reach very small items on the bottom, such as pennies that have fallen out of a pocket. I need the help of kitchen tongs to be able to reach them. Shorter people will have difficulty reaching some clothing at the bottom. Tongs will help here, too. Otherwise, it is a terrific machine. It is huge, capable of washing large comforters with ease. The automatic application of detergent and fabric softener work very efficiently and without fail. It even transmits when the load is done to my phone and watch. It even tells me when I haven't tended to it 30 minutes after the load is done. I'm going to have to get this capability in my next dryer.

This machine is defective, too bad they do not allow a 0 star rating!!!.... these washers are defective from factory, the springs/rods on the tub are not strong enough to hold it from shaking so abruptly that it will move 9"-12" and btw no matter how much you adjust and align it and even with small loads.... In fact the shaking is so violent that the drum has damaged the front of the machine (see picture below), I called GE customer service, the tech will not fix it once the shell has been damaged, so now going back and forth with GE customer service (phone calls, emails, pictures, videos etc) only to be told "they can try to fix it" but WILL NOT REPLACE IT!!.... this is absolute useless machine and even worse customer service ........ once again waiting for another GE manager to review file!!.... there is nothing to review other than your factory procedures and testing before you ship products.

I read all the reviews from prior buyers and I have to say that they were all helpful, even the negative ones. Basically, this washer is performing very well for us on all the dimensions that matter to our family: - We can soak clothes, which we couldn't do in our front-loader - The different preset load cycles are well optimized for the combination of temperature, fill, soak, rinse, wash, and so on. So far clothes come out clean with no extra hassle on our part. - The drum is huge, allowing for a lot more variety in load size - We like the see-through lid. You can easily verify what's in the laundry. That's good for a multi-user washer. - The autodetection of water and detergent levels is great, makes loading and starting a breeze - We like the wifi connectivity, our phones keep us updated on when the wash is done or when we've let wet clothes sit too long (this is a big deal for us as laundry is in basement where it's easy to forget) - The 50-load liquid detergent dispenser is a great touch. I didn't think we'd care about this, but it has been huge (our teens love it, too, makes it easier on them to do their own wash without wondering about which detergent and how much, etc.) THINGS TO CONSIDER There are a few issues worth noting, many of which were brought up by others in prior reviews. - The drum is huge, but it means you can't reach all the way in to retrieve clothes if you are under 5'6". You will need a stool (don't let your teens use this as an excuse not to do their laundry! :) - It makes more types of noises than people are used to. In fairness to GE, they are upfront about this and they post audio recordings so you can listen to know if you are comfortable with the noises. Basically, I don't find the noises distressing, but they vary a lot, which I think triggers our minds to think something isn't going right. What do I mean? Each stage involves switching on and off of water, rotating the drum to sense the weight of laundry, adding water, letting soak, then spinning, then adding water. All of those things make more variety of noise than I was used to growing up in a home with a washer that was loud but made noises in very predictable patters: fill with water, agitate the drum, then spin to empty. Repeat. I think the predictability made it easier to get used to the noise. If you read some negative reviews here that complain of noise, I think they're really responding to how uncomfortable they are that the noise is constantly changing. - Make sure you do some looking at your liquid laundry detergent. This machine is made to use laundry detergent that uses about 1.5 oz for a typical load. If you have a more concentrated liquid than that (like Method), it will use too much for your load. As far as I can tell, there is no way to update the amount of detergent it uses per load depending on the concentration of the detergent (I saw that some Whirlpool models have that capability). If you are using anything basic, Tide, All, etc. you will be fine. But you can confirm by seeing how many ounces of detergent are in your bottle (75oz, for example) and how many loads the bottle says that's for (50 loads, for example). Some are closer to 1.4oz per load, some closer to 1.6, but I think that's all in the same ballpark. - Connecting the wifi was not intuitive. Basically the manual they send you is wrong (outdated). You should just go to your app store, download GE Laundry, and it will tell you how to connect. - On that note, the manual was inadequate on many levels. We live in a world where Samsung and Apple send you very clear instructions for how to use your new gadget right away. But appliance makers still send you this big thick thing printed on cheap paper with a lot of pages that say "Feature only applicable to MDK models," or with diagrams that say "this image applies to WWKN1 model" and "this image applies to all WS01 models." I mean really. Get with the present. Custom print me a manual that only applies to me. I don't want to have to remember if I got the WWKN1 or the WS01 model. Or give me a nice big QR code on the washer that I can snap with my phone and it will create a manual just for me (along with a link to the GE Laundry app, for example). Feels obvious to me. But that's not unique to GE, I don't think.

Love the cleaning abilities of this machine! It handles really big loads with ease & is the best at spin drying that I've experienced. Although I've only had it long enough for 4 loads, they included a load of pet bedding, gentles & work jeans. I'm also pretty surprised at how much I'm enjoying the detergent feature...who'd thunk? (I am hoping that it won't get clogged after time) Why not 5 stars? That lovely huge tub is sooo deep, I can't reach the clothes at the bottom (I'm 5'7"). My solution? An antler back scratcher. Perfect. Recommendation to GE? Include a clothes hook with purchase!

                                noisy wash
Had to replaced my old Samsung washer when it broke, mind you had it for only 4 years, and we got this washer because of all the great reviews. It does what it’s supposed to do, washes the clothes, washes well. Removes stains, very impresed with that. Large capacity so I’m able to wash multiple blankets and towels at once. Has many load options, lots of settings that’s nice too. Now my problem with this washer is how loud this thing is! OMG! Do not leave this running at night, it will keep you up. I wish I could upload a video because words can’t describe the noise it makes. What a noisy washer! It is not out of balance, it’s not loud because of a problem with it. The noise comes from the drum turning in it. It’s like a symphony, you will know when it’s turning left or right.

The Smart Dispense is life changing. Just a couple buttons and presto. WiFi notifications come in handy. It does a great job cleaning. It’s a little deep, my wife has issues reaching that “last sock”. Had to get her a little stool. I am (5’9”) and any shorter than me your will be reaching like Indiana Jones for the Holy Grail Cup when the temple starts to collapse. Had it about 30 days, best purchase yet for the new House!

Purchased to replace my old dependable washer that I had for years and was a bit worried I wouldn't find anything comparable, but I HAVE BEEN THRILLED with with this GE 5.0 HE washer. It is a BIG washer, and I LOVE all the washing options it comes with. The wifi is an additional bonus that is helpful for reminders that laundry is still in washer (#momlife). Like the other reviews say, if you are more short than 5'3 you may have to use tongs to get items from the bottom, but at 5'4 I can reach just enough to get everything! Stylish, useful and just what you need in a washer!

We purchased the washer and dryer about a month ago and I have no complaints. This Machine is by far better then the previous washer we had. The size is great you can do what used to be two loads in one load. With the Smart Dispense you never have to worry about putting to much detergent in. The machine can connect with any Smart Phone, Alexa, Google Home, etc. The App allows you to see how much time you have left, how many loads you have done, and you can even schedule a service call if need be. This machine is well worth it!!

Presets don’t work well and wash quality is poor
My new washer was delivered Saturday and man do I have buyers remorse. I sat and watched clothes being washed, yes it’s that boring, because I didn’t believe the amount of water that was in the tub was sufficient to actually wash clothes and I was right. I videoed my clothes being washed using the colors, normal setting (which by the way you can’t use the deep fill option with this cycle). This load consisted of 1 pair of jeans, 2 sweatshirts, a few shirts, some socks and under garments. not once did a sock siting on top of a sweat shirt actually make it into the water. And just stayed on top of that sweatshirt the whole wash cycle. There was a yellow shirt that only had half of it washed while the other half stayed above the water. I did this also with 4 queen sized sheets and pillow cases using the sheet setting and same thing half of the sheets never touched the water with soap in it, bulky setting, same outcome. The only time anything really was washed correctly was using the deep fill option but doesn’t this just make the reason for getting the machine a mute point, shouldn’t the “sensors” in the machine tell it how much clothes are in the machine to get washed and at least fill and the right amount of water and “swish” the clothes so all of the clothes get swished around in the soapy water ?

I bought my set about 3 weeks ago. I absolutely Love it. I finally have a set that fits my lifestyle. I love using the aplliance app also. My appliances send messages to my cell phone. For example they let me know when the cycle has ended or when I have left them in for 30 minutes after the cycle ended. The washer will tell me 15 minutes before the wash cycle ends as well. I washed my whole large basket of towels in one load, normally air would have been 2-3 loads. My husband swore I overloaded the washer...but I didn’t...plus I like that the washer rebalances itself when a load becomes unbalanced...yes of course I put it to the test. My clothes come out clean everytime, and I am using the auto dispense feature. We are extremely happy with our investment....KUDO’S GE...

We were looking for a large capacity washer that could handle king and queen sized comforters. The, "High Efficiency" aspect of the washer took a little getting used to as it uses just enough water to get the job done. After decades of obviously using way too much water in a standard washer, I have to fight the urge to manually set it to add more water in the wash cycle. Make sure you get "HE" labeled detergent, which all the big box stores tend to have anyway at the same price as older formulas. We have put about 50+ loads through it so far without experiencing any of the complaints some have mentioned in other reviews. From sporting to work related dirt and stains, this washer gets our clothes clean. The model we purchased on sale did not come with the external WIFI module nor the "Pre-soak/water tray". We would not have used either. It is, "Smart" and on start up it will do minor spins in multiple directions to balance out the load before completing its filling cycle. On occasion it even starts the wash cycle and then determines it needs some more water. Again, takes a little getting used to. Due to the amount of sensors and electronics, we went ahead and purchased the additional, "Warranty" coverage from Home Depot. All in all it was a good deal that we have been pleased with. The free delivery included in the sale was a great bonus as well.

This model is just perfect. Having wifi is great for notification when loads are done and also allows you to see how much over a course of a month thru the GE app. It even dispenses the right amout of soap in its internal storage. Add an Ethernet cable between the two appliances and there is no need to set the dryer setting. The washer will do it for you after you tell it what you are washing. The buttons have a nice touch, and its super large capacity.
