Worked well for 13 months. Now it wont pull water out of the air. GE can you have a recall on these since this seems To be a major defect for a lot of people.

Works great. No complaints. Pumps the water out when full and is quiet enough that I don't notice it

This is an upgrade over my last dehumidifier. It is very efficient, quiet and I enjoy the self draining capabilities. Would highly recommend. Solved small basement dampness issues.

This humidifier works great. The humidity was 65 in my basement & after 3 days running it on medium the humidity dropped to 40. The musty smell is gone and the built in pump makes it worth every cent it cost.

Great portable dehumidifier. We love the pump. It does blow warm air at times, though, and it weighs on the electricity bill.

Great product. It works! Our last one lasted only 3 years. Hopefully we'll get a longer stay with this one.

I am very happy with my GE Dehumidifier purchase. It came as an upgrade to my old unit which finally gave up after 8 years of service. It was doing great job or removing moister from my house, but it was noisy and I had to remove the water bucket manually all the time. I was not able to use the garden hose as it relied on gravity to remove water. I was using the old dehumidifier on the first floor of my house. We just have done with our bathroom remodeling and discovered a crack in the external wall. That explained why I had so much moisture in that area. I was looking for quite dehumidifier with possibility of not removing bucket manually. I have reviewed many dehumidifiers and actually picked GE APEL50LZ based on people reviews and satisfaction, and I was not disappointed. I am very impressed with the low level of noise generated by the dehumidifier while it was running. Pulling air from asides helps to save space around the dehumidifier! My old unit was pulling air from the back and it required to be placed at least a foot away from a wall. The pump feature on the dehumidifier is a great addition. I terminated it to one of drains, which is at higher than the dehumidifier itself and it has been working flawlessly ever since. The hose is also small and easy to route in comparison to the regular garden hose. I never have to empty buckets anymore! The only issue I discovered with the first unit I originally purchased it was not functional from the start; but I was able to replace it at local Home Depot in no time.

Stopped working after 8 months, but wasn't detected for another 6 months. Compressor would start but would over heat and shut off after 5 to 15 minutes. So.......

We have had our dehumidifier about three months. It runs nonstop between emptying. It is not attached to a hose for continuous emptying, so we manually empty the receptacle twice a day. Our first observation was its quietness in comparison to our previous one. We can’t hear it upstairs, which we appreciate. The only irritation is the difficulty returning the emptied bucket to its position. We must knock it into position with the heel of our hand. I hope that this does not eventually damage it. Other than that, we are pleased with its efficiency.

Great product, and I love the pump/auto empty feature!

So far it’s been an outstanding dehumidifier in spite of the fact that we live in Oklahoma. We run it 24/7 and it doesn’t miss a beat. Loving the pump feature. While I’ve never had a problem with it, the way the hose attaches to the unit is a little flimsy. It seems like maybe it should leave the unit at a 90° angle? I don’t know really but I’m often afraid I’m gonna step on it and snap it off. That has not happened though with the hose it would be nice if they were feet included to allow you to block up the dehumidifier so it can’t roll anymore. If you have this feature, it would help you make sure that your hose is never going to get too far away from the drain on accident. Just a thought again we’ve had absolutely no problems at all with the product and I buy it again right now.

Worked great keeping the humidity down below 50% in my basement for 3 years. Stopped pulling humidity and started to shut off after 30 minutes of operation over this summer. Expect better of what was at the time a $300 appliance. If you get one consider an extended warranty, otherwise look for another brand.

Very pleased with the overall performance of the dehumidifier.

It's a great unit, but had to replace after a year and I have another unit with the same issue. But I do like GE Applicances.

Like other I purchased this unit in the summer of 2021. It ran two summers for three months and now I can’t get it to run more than 5 minutes this summer of 2023. Called GE tech and they said it’s cost prohibitive to fix and offered $50 coupon for new one. Won’t throw good money after bad. If you buy get the extended warranty.

I bought this dehumidifier about a year ago and worked great for about 8 months and it stopped working a couple months ago. It turns on and blows air for about 5 minutes and then just stops. The display is still on but the fan doesn’t run and it doesn’t take any moisture out of the air. This is the 2nd one of the same model I’ve had that has done the exact same thing. Just don’t bother with this one. Save your money

Stopped dehumidifying after about 1 year. Before then, it worked great.

This unit works really great. I took out the water and the room within 24 hours.

If you research dehumidifiers, seem like all have one thing in common: All seem to stop working shortly after the warranty runs out. Our GE dehumidifier just stopped working today..about 3 months out of the 1 year warranty. I never buy the extended coverage but will definitely purchase it on the next one. These seem to be products with a very short lifespan. Unacceptable

This is a replacement for the same model, which lasted about 4+ years of heavy use. Hoping the same for this one.

The product is doing a super job in keeping our basement dry during the wet summer we are having!

This expensive dehumidifier came with out a drainage hose. We hope it will be working well once we get the freaking hose for it. Talk about a bad deal!

So far so GOOD! Have only been using for 1 month now, so 4 stars. Finally had to replace my 1970's 48-year-old GE dehumidifier (kid you not! - still working but making noise). Pump to drain is super handy. Unit cycles on and off very fast (too?). But otherwise working very well,

This unit failed after running for one summer season. It auto shuts off within 30 minutes and pulls no moisture. I tried all the troubleshooting tips from GE customer support but since its been more than a year they refuse to support their product.
