The transfer switch worked great in the ice cream truck I was wiring, the only complaint was the studs that hold the lugs on are too small and you have to be careful to not strip them out. I used the three pole switches to separate the neutral wires on the cords when plugged in to utility when not on generator power.

This switch appears well built and exactly what I needed for my small home project of setting up the electric water heater so it could draw power either from the street or from the whole-house generator, but not both at the same time. I can only assume that the other brands sold by the electrical supply houses that cost three times as much (or more), are more wonderful, but this switch does the job for me.

I purchased for use on my well pump, to be able to switch between the power supplied by my utility company and my generator. Being a simple mechanical switch it’s a full proof and easy to use. Up is for my generator, the middle turns both sources of power off and down supplies power from my utility company. You can place a pad lock on the control lever in any of the three positions to prevent tampering.

Do not purchase this switch if you have other options. The terminal design is a fixed stud, with a pressure plate, and a slotted nut. The stud is not long enough to grab the nut with your #10 wire under the pressure plate (keep in mind it is rated up to #8). I had to forego the manufacturers setup for ring terminals and 10-24 locknuts. My wiring method was solid wires, so I had to wirenut on stranded jumpers to meet the listing of the ring terminals. The result was a messy look. DO NOT USE THIS GE JUNK! You have been warned.
