Quickly cools bedroom, easy install, delay on / off feature

I bought this to cool our bedroom in an add-on upstairs dormer that is sweltering in summer because of the heat rising from the first floor. Bedroom is 225 square feet and with door open a crack, AC cools room down from mid 80s daytime temps to low 70s in an hour. The Delay On / Off function is very handy - can set the unit to turn on every day at 7pm so it's nice and cool by bedtime and when unit is on, can set it to turn off early a.m. Also has energy saver feature for those that don't want to constantly run the compressor.
Install was easy - you screw in the top bracket, the bottom bracket comes pre-installed, and then you lower the window so the sash sits in back of the top bracket and the bottom bracket sits in front of the window sill. This tilts the window a bit but the unit is slim profile so that it's not too unsightly from the outside, should your window be facing the street. Also comes with a set of screws to affix the accordion sliders on each side to the window frame and a top bracket to help prevent the until from falling out should you have a momentary lapse of judgement and just try to open the window. Comes with foam to stuff into the top window seal and I used Frost King winterizing tape to seal the gaps around the unit so there is not much cool air loss.
Lots of Features, Easy to Use, Easy to Install, Nice Design, High Quality
i just bought one of these myself yesterday, i was worried by what the reviews said about the noise level but honestly it's as loud as any other window unit I've ever had not too loud but not quiet either. If near a TV then turn it up 5-6 clicks and it's like normal. We use this for a 250sqft living room and it manages to cool the 280sqft kitchen easily as well so if your home is well insulated and doors/windows are sealed properly I see no reason to get a different unit. I'll be purchasing a second for our 550sqft downstairs living room tomorrow.
I bought this unit to cool a closed in garage(20x20 or 400 sq/ft). I had a 13,000 BTU PORTABLE unit in the room but would not get it below 79 deg on a 90 deg day even if it ran 5 hours straight. I was a little worried that 8,000 BTUs wasn't gonna be enough as it was rated for 350 sq/ft room but decided to give it a try. I installed it in the window and cut it on, within 45 minutes it had cooled the room from 83 to 79 degrees, within 2 hours it was a comfortable 75 degrees and unit was cycling off and on due to thermostat setting. Pretty impressive on a 90 deg day. A $250 dollar window unit outcooled a $500 portable unit. Things that make you go HMMMMM. This unit is a great buy, not as loud as portable unit and cools great.
I purchased this model last year. We used it about 3 months last year and 1 month this year. I thought it was good, but it is no longer cooling, just an expensive fan!
Called GE and they will send a repair person out for almost half the cost of a new one and that does not include parts and labor.
Not worth the effort I will just by a different brand. I assumed the GE name could be trusted for a quality product. Bad assumption.
Easy to Use
does not last not reliable, very loud
This particular brand and model, along with the smaller model AEL06LV received high ratings and recommendation from Consumer Reports, so I bought the two from Home Depot. I followed the recommended BTU for the room size I was going to put them in. I am disappointed with my purchase because it doesn't cool the entire room without the help of fans to circulate the air. The fans are not strong enough .Also, once it reaches the desired temperature setting, it takes a long time for it to turn back on again even though the room feels warm. It feels like its built-in thermostat is not correct. ( This is when placed the "energy saver" setting). Even when set to "cool", the air that's blowing doesn't feel cool enough. These units replaced the older window ACs we had for 12 years, which did a fine job in my opinion. The only thing I like about these GE window AC's are they are quieter than most window AC's. That was my deciding factor in choosing them over similar highly rated brands and models.
Easy to Install, quieter than most
weak fan doesn't cool the room without other fans

We were considering purchasing the GE 6000 BTU A/C unit but this one has more features. It looks good and I believe the extra power saves us electricity costs in that the unit isn't working as hard. We don't need the wi fi so we haven't even tried that. Having the 4 way adjustable air flow is important and keeps the chilly air from blowing directly on us. We were concerned about the noise level as some reviewers have indicated to be a problem; (after all, it's blowing air), but it is no louder than a standard box fan. I have no issues with the simple remote. This the 3rd GE window A/C unit we purchased at Home Depot and haven't had any complaints with any of them. We're glad we bought it.
I have a 1 bedroom apt on the 3rd floor so it gets really hot and this air conditioner cools my living room pretty quickly. The energy saver is perfect because I have to leave it on all day while I'm at work so my cat doesn't over heat. The only down side is that it's really loud, my cat's ears go up when it turns on but it's placed behind the couch so it's extra loud when watching TV it has the sound of a fan not an ordinary air conditioner which is good and the remote is Perfect so I don't have to climb over the couch to turn it on or adjust it. Overall I'd recommend this one if you're cooling a larger room or even multiple rooms.
I bought this last year for my new apartment excited to have HomeKit control. It worked okay and cooled the room sometimes, other times it would inexplicably stop cooling before reaching target temp. My dumb ge bedroom unit does the same so I didn’t think much... cut to this year, I just put it in the window last week...and it’s not cooling at all...no matter what I do... it’s just become a loud $300 fan... I’m seething... my grandparents had the same ACs for 20 years with no issues. What is this? And I can’t even return it....
