We didn’t get a filter. We received a very fancy flashlight instead. Not sure what happened. We were asked to return the flashlight, so we did. We still haven’t received a water filter.

This was easy to assemble only issue was have only had refrigerator 2 months and already had to change as is suppose to last 2 months which is very unfortunate especially as we are 1st time GE buyers

Big rip off. Not Home Depot's fault. GE holds you hostage. After 6 months, the fridge will not dispense water until you replace it with one of their proprietary filters. Will not purchase another GE appliance again.

If you prefer not to use a genuine GE Appliances water filter, a bypass plug must be used. If the plastic bypass plug was not supplied with your refrigerator or has been misplaced, one can be ordered at no charge by calling 1-800-432-2737.

It’s a water filter. It doesn’t have to be smart. It just needs to filter water. Price is outrageously expensive for a water filter. Pass that on to the manufacturer.
