There are some issues with this microwave, but overall I would recommend it. The pros: the white panel in front is easy to read. We chose white as it matched our cabinets but also could have gone with stainless steel. The stainless had a black background and was difficult to read. We liked the smaller sized of this microwave, many we looked at were big and bulky. GE was the only microwave I could find that has an option to change the volume of the beeper. Many had the options of only mute/off or on. This model has mute, low, standard and high levels for those hard of hearing. The low setting volume if perfect for me, I can hear when I'm cooking but nobody else in the house hears it. The sensor for defrost and potato works well. The normal setting for cooking/heating works a bit better than the 13 year old microwave this replaced. The price was also good.
The cons: the sensor setting settings for "reheat" and "melt" are not accurate at all. Even though the interior is white, you cannot see through the microwave door to see the food cooking inside. The fan is noisy and only does a moderate job of removing smoke and odors. The keypad requires a lot of pressure to get the numbers/features to work. Installation was terrible by Home Depot. There were black, greasy fingerprints all over the cabinets and microwave, it is installed crooked and one of the bolts up was stripped during installation. FYI, most of my other installations for other products from HD have gone very well. We made another appt to have the microwave adjusted and they were a no-show. So depending on where you live, you might want to check on other installation options. We installed our previous microwave - level, however at this time I have a frozen shoulder and cannot do something like this and my spouse has become disabled so we were hoping for a better install.
