This Grohsafe pressure valve had it pros and cons.
I picked this valve for two main reasons:
1) It would work well with the Grohe trim package that I really like (although this was not easy to figure out on my own, I had to call Grohe to verify this)
2) On this particular job, I was using pex and I love how this valve had male pex connections so I could avoid one additional connection during my installation. The few the connections....the less places to leak! :0)
3) I liked the way the valve was clearly marked hot/cold/tub/shwr (pictures below)
This valve is smooth to operate and sturdy. I expect to get many years of use from it.
Con:
1) My only con was the instructions.(I included a picture below) There were VERY, VERY few words. They used pictures and symbols. I felt like I had to solve a puzzle each time I moved on to the next step. Also, the instructions were not for my exact valve (there were for a valve with copper pipe connections), but I was able to make them work

There are so many kind of rough-in-valve in the market, as a consumer may need an advise from a Pro Plumper to get the best idea to meet your need. This time I write a review of this Grohe Rough-In-Valve bring me more information of the valve design. Firstly, I observe a Blue plastic Cap with a White plastic swing arrow, that is use for you to level the valve without level tool. By the valve itself is solid brass with detail cast letter for each of the outlet. Clearly you can see C for cold water H for Hot water and T for tub. On the both side of Cold and Hold water there equipped with adjustable valve for you can preset the ratio of Hot/Cold water flow to meet your requirement. Connection for both H/C water inlet is using 1/2" Pex Clamp for hose installation. this you need a Pex Clamp tool to do this job (. Tub and Shower is using 1/2" Thread connection. A stainless Bracket for mounting the valve is rare in other Brand made. Over all this is a Good made Rough-In-Valve either material and workmanship are confidently to meet your expectation. Installation, I strongly recommend to hide a Pro Plumbing to install of it.

Rough in valve
It came with a defective cartridge which had to be replaced, and required additional costs for plumber due to the need to replace the defective part.

The valve was well packaged and arrived undamaged. It appears to be well constructed and has a good weight to it. The connections are typical 1/2-inch.

Very Good All Brass System. Should last a Lifetime. I like how it is all ready for PEX. This will be very easy to install, unless you have all copper or galvanized coming into your bathroom right now. Then, it will be a little more complex & require adapting. Grohe makes the most solid components. I have many of their faucets (heavy duty). I am putting another in my other bathroom someday!

Groh makes nice quality hardware. This is no exception. I used it with the Grohe Concetto Single-Handle Tub and Shower Faucet Trim Kit in Brushed Nickel InfinityFinish (the Valve is not Included with the trim kit). Installation of the valve and trim kit had no surprises and with the trim kit the shower works great and it looks great too. It was a nice upgrade for our old shower.

Grohe solid brass rough-in tub and shower control is a good quality product that I am using with Grohe chrome trim and shower head. Built-in valve stops makes maintenance and valve replacement easy .
As a pro this rough-in valve makes the plumbing part of a bathroom construction project easy .
I will certainly use this on future renovations . !!

Well made valve. First, notice the construction is of heavier brass and not zinc like a lot of other manufacturers are using to cut cost. These shortcuts don't last very long and, brass is the preferred material for longer service. This allows the flexibility of shower only install or tub/shower install. Also, sweat (copper) or PEX can easily be used and the instructions are pretty clear about that. However, the pictograph instructions could use some (narrative) instruction, in some spots. I like the "level" arrow to make install easier, though I would ALWAYS check it with a bubble. Install is easy and if any of my other GROHE products are an indicator, I expect to get years of trouble-free service out of this.
