  • Great Generator

This is the first Generator I have bought and so far I am happy with the purchase! It was very easy to put together. It only took about 15 minutes from unpackaging to startup. It is a little loud, but not over bearing. I shut the power off to the house and started it up on the first pull! It ran great and most importantly it ran the jet pump, furnace, refridgerator, living room lights and TV, kitchen lights and bedroom lights and TV! Everything I needed to run! I used 2 15W energy saving bulbs in each room. One thing they should include is a funnel for the oil. Over all it is a great product!

Pros Easy to Use, Loud, Compact, Clear Instructions, Nice Design, easy start up

My new 6500 watt generator has been great ...During last power outage (5-days) i did survive on my Generac 3200 watt gen. but on a limited basis..I knew next time I wanted all house power. I found a great deal on this unit ordered it an it was shipped to my front door in 5 days.boxed & on a pallet. Assembly was simple and in about 20-30 minutes i was ready to start it..It started on the second pull..I also installed a Genarac transfer box. I plugged in generator flipped switches and ran house on it for an hour & everything worked great. I have done 3 test so far & all i can say is I love it. I will highly recommend it ...

  • Good buy - GP6500 is a Workhorse

The Generic GP 6500 performed well at my home in CT. I purchased it last year after the great Oct storm and saw AT&T using a similar unit to power their lines. I used the unit this year for the first time after hurricane sandy knocked out power for a day. It worked well, stared right up and fuel consumption was about what the mfg. suggested it would be at 50% load. Only down side is it’s loud – Similar to running a large snow blower. We did have a transfer switch installed and that made things easier than running extension cords.

  • Would Not Start In Cold

I recently purchased this model but it would not start without warming for a long tiime in a heated space. I eventually determined that the choke is either not connected internally or perhaps there is actually no choke and just the choke lever. Am currently trying to get the problem resolved under the warranty. Otherwise, it seems like a very good product. My yes recommendation is dependent on getting the problem resolved. I am subbmitting this review only because I thought it might help others who may be experiencing a cold start problem.

This generator is better than expected. Nice compact frame with fold out handle. It also quieter than expected. During the last storm I borrowed a rigid generator which was much louder. Very large gas tank. Very easy to start. I was also impressed with the delivery. He actually brought it right into the garage for me. Very satisfied with purchase

Pros Easy to Use, Great Sound Quality, Compact

Bought this generator about two weeks before we knew about "Sandy". Performed very well during our three day power outage. The ONLY negative is the noise. Needs a better muffler.

Pros Clear Instructions, Easy Installation Cons too loud.

My generator was delivered to the garage door. Set up was easy. Our electrician wired it into our electrical panel via a transfer switch and second panel. I purchased after we were without power in northern CT for 11 days as a result of the Halloween snow storm. I feel much more prepared for the next event with 10 circuits working including our heat!

This Generator runs very well and provides nice clean power....I set the generator up in my girlfriend's house with a transfer switch and installed a tri-fuel (gasoline - natural gas - propane) conversion kit....we will be using propane as the primary fuel....contrary to some reviews the generator runs great on propane....
