It's kind of the necessary evil to buy this post if you get the Gibraltar mail box. The post is a basic aluminum extrusion from Taiwan. Not my idea of a $100 item, but you need it to get the mail box mounted. Assembly was relatively simple and anchoring to the slab is easy as well. It does sit on the high end of the US Postal Service's recommendation for mail slots. Double check your area's standards as ours had a max height of 49", this slot sits at 48". Had I known it was so tall, I would have poured the slab an inch or two shorter than the curb.

The post I ordered arrived the day after I ordered...
The post I ordered arrived the day after I ordered it. I was able to salvage my actual mailbox after a hit and run driver mowed over my mailbox and post. With a neighbors help, we were able to assemble the new post and attach the old mailbox.
