JUNK. Door will not stay closed

If you don't mind wet mail this mailbox is fine. after having our address put on the box i find that no matter how it's mounted the door pops open. mail carrier said he sees it happen often. going back to the cheaper plastic ones.

This mailbox was a breeze to install and fit on the existing post perfectly. I really like the adjustable latch for the door which the tension can be easily adjusted to preference with a pair of pliers. Well Built and for 20.00 it would be tough to beat this mailbox!
Defective manufacturing

Each side had a bit of a bowed out portion in the middle, which allowed for air and possibly water to come into the base of the mailbox. The box it came in was fine. I was sent a replacement after submitting photos to Gibraltar, which was nice. This will be updated when the replacement mailbox is received. It might have been a glitch in manufacturing.

Our mailbox finally bit the dust after our toddlers pulled down on the door too hard. I was looking for the quickest and cheapest fix since I didn’t want to spend the time to replace the entire mailbox (new post, concrete, etc). The Gibraltar mailbox fit the bill in both aspects. I already had the wood mailbox post in place, so I just removed my old mailbox and plopped on the new one. I used the screws from the old mailbox to screw this one down. I did also buy the universal mailbox mounting board, but it was not necessary for our installation. It is doing great and my kids love running out to the new mailbox to check for mail.
