It is a nice mailbox.
And it is secure from the most casual mail thief. It has worked well for a couple years now.
This morning I arrive home to an open mailbox. Saturday's mail is missing. Thanks to USPS Informed Delivery email, I know all that was stolen was two junk mail pieces and my lady's Kohl's billing.
The lock latch secures to the shelf in the middle of the mailbox. Alas, the gauge of the metal is not sufficient to stop a normal screwdriver from prying open the locked door. The metal just bent out, with such little required force that they did not even scratch the paint...!
I was amazed how easily I was able to bend it back into place.
My plan is to add a strip of 1/8" steel to the latch strip. It will require grinding off some of the lock latch, but they give me enough to make it work, I believe. If not, you sell replacement universal latches that would also work.

Thank you for taking time to leave a review. The United States Postal Service determines and issues standards that must be met for all locking and non-locking curbside mailboxes. One of these requirements is that all locking designs must have a minimum slot opening of 1.75 in. high by 10 in. wide. The Reliant mailbox has the smallest size slot allowed to meet this requirement set by the USPS.

Reliant/Gibraltar - Heavy Duty, Large, Locking Mailbox
This mailbox is shipped inside a polyethylene bag with 3/4" of closed-cell expanded polystyrene foam endcaps and packed within a cardboard box.
The mailbox is constructed from a heavy gauge galvanized steel and covered with an off-white light beige powder coated finish that is very uniform and smooth. This product is also available in black.
The outer door is sturdy, with a piano type hinge that runs the full width of the mailbox, with a strong magnetic latch to keep the outer door closed.
The inner locking mail access door is located about 1 inch behind the outer hinged door. The inner locking door is about 5 inches tall by 9 inches wide and also as a full width piano hinge. This locking door is opened by using a small key similar to those used on office desks and filing cabinets. Two keys are provided with the box.
The mail is placed through a 1.5 by 9 inch slot above the inner locking door and is large enough to accommodate a majority of mail, magazines and larger envelopes may need to be folded. The bottom of the slot has a ramp which creates a barrier to reaching deposited mail without using the key.
Even though the main part of the box is locked, this design accommodates outgoing mail. The mail is clipped in front of the locking door, and behind the outer door. You can also use bar magnets to hold outgoing mail on the front or locking door. The outgoing mail notification flag is sturdy, powder coated in a gray finish and fastened with stainless fasteners.
The manufacturer specifies using their "C" post kit. I prepared a mounting plate of my own, using a 1x12 #2 pine board cut down to 9-7/8" by 19-3/4". I plan to fasten the mailbox to a pressure treated wooden 4x4 post using corrosion resistant screws.
This mailbox is an attractive, quality product, that should keep your mail secure for a long time.

We decided to change out our standard rural mailbox for a locking box, as the mailbox is at a distance from the house. We chose this design because most mail can be slipped through the slot and small packages as well. It's also larger than our old box, so it can receive larger mailings without bending them. The mailbox is sturdy and heavy and all metal. It installed easily onto the recommended mounting plate which we installed on our existing mailbox post. The box comes with clear instructions and a clip that you can mount inside the box door for outgoing mail. The two keys are enough for now, but I'll likely make a few copies "just in case". Very happy with this mailbox.

The Reliant White Locking Mount Mailbox will be the last mailbox you will ever have to buy for your Home or place Business. Reliant is Built to Last and Keeps your mail secure with a lock and key.
I do not consider myself an expert in any sense of the word in any category but personally after handling hundreds and hundreds of mailboxes through the years delivering mail I choose the Reliant, it is a no brainer in comparison to any other mailboxes for its safety features as well as the quality and workmanship
Approximate measurements are 21 inches long, 11 1/2 inches deep, 10 1/2 wide, the color is more of a off white then a bright white. Made of a very strong durable heavy duty galvanized steell with a nice strong well made preassembled handle that is easy to grip and matching flag that easily slides up and down as needed.
Plastic mailboxes crack and handles fall off after a couple of years due to simply opening and closing, the harsh sun and rough weathers. Many tin like materials look and feel cheap and rust and the doors are removed one hinge at a time after a few years of opening and closing.
The Reliant is so well made, falling apart, rusting and the door coming off will not be an issue.
I assure you this is not your typical mailbox.
Mail theft has become more of an issue each and ever year, your personal and important letters will be safe from theft with the Reliant Safety Lock and 2 Keys. Once your mail carrier drops your mail in your mailbox only you will be the one removing your important letters, bills and magazines.
No hardware is sold with this model but the outside of the box will instruct you the size and accessories you will need to purchase for a secure, safe, lifetime of installing the last mailbox you will ever need

Reliant Locking Post Mount Mailbox in Black
This larger sized mailbox, I’m guessing will hold several weeks of our mail. The lock and latch on the inner lockable door are strong, and well attached. It has the right features for my plans as a deterrent to thieves trying to determine if anyone is home. I do not like the outgoing mail clip and do not plan to use it, since we will only lock the inside door when we are out of town. When we are gone I won't have any outgoing mail
anyway. Outgoing mail will usually rest in the main section, while the inside door is unlocked like our old box. When locked, incoming mail drops through an inside slot to an area behind the locked door. The slot is big enough to allow thicker and larger envelopes to drop through. Unfortunately the generous size slot also means a small hand could snake through retrieving some of the mail below. But if we are out of town for a few days, it won't be easily determined we are gone or for how long. Through the slot, you can see only the last few inches of the section below where Mail is stored, showing something is inside, but not how much. Of course a crow bar could defeat the lock, but I do not want to spend many hundreds of dollars for Fort Knocks protection. My front door lock could also be defeated by a determined thief. This box has the right deterrent options for us, and at the right price!
My box did not include installation instructions so I found them at the manufacturer site, here is the link:

This is not at all what I was expecting. They only positive thing about this mailbox is the size. It’s BIG! Other than that. I don’t see this as being a very secure mailbox.
There is a flap that you have to unlock to get to your mail, however the gaps on each side of the flap are wide enough and easy enough just stick a screwdriver in and pry open. Also, the slot that the mail is placed through is still wide enough for me to get my hand in halfway up to my elbow. This would not prevent someone with a small arm from reaching in and grabbing the mail.
To mount this box on an existing post, you also need to purchase the mounting bracket ( apparently sold separately at an additional cost) . Either that or use a big piece of wood which I think would look tacky. There is also supposed to be a clip on the inside of the door for you to put your outgoing mail. However, it is not welded to the inside of the door but you actually have to stick it on the door yourself with the piece of double-sided sticky foam attached to the back of the clip. I could not imagine this would last very long.
All in all, I doubt that this box would be secure enough to prevent anybody from stealing your mail. It might be a slight deterrent but I doubt it would take anyone very long to pop open the flap and walk off with your mail.

In regards to mounting hardware, post mount mailboxes require different types of accessories and hardware depending on the chosen mounting method. Due to the vast range of options, it’s unfeasible to provide hardware for every possible method of installation at a reasonable cost.
