  • Nice solid large mailbox – well built and plenty of space

I'd been looking around at mailboxes for a while. My old one was one of those made of some sort of plastic type material and although it was still structurally intact it was looking pretty rough and starting to deteriorate after 20 years in the sun. Seeing how that material breaks down over time I was looking for a decent metal one that was still large like my old one. This one fit the bill well and has at least as much room as my old one. The door is held by a magnetic catch which s a nice touch because it is easy to close it securely yet it operates smoothly since it does not depend on friction or a mechanical latch to close. It's a nice design really. There's a seal around the top I presume to help keep out moisture from rain. That got put to the test right off with a deluge the day after I got it installed and it is doing OK so far. I'm very pleased with it. I found it pretty easy to install. I simply used some pressure treated 2x8 and built my own mount securing the mailbox to it from the inside using short galvanized lag screws and washers. Carriage bolts might have worked better but this setup makes it easy to remove should I ever need to. I used a right angle battery operated drill and pre-drilled the 2x8 on a drill press after marking the holes for precisely positioned holes. This all made it very easy to mount. I considered using the available factory mount but the way my post was offset that mount would not work for me unless I moved my post. Since my post was in good shape and in concrete I did not feel like digging it up. My method of mounting was perhaps not as attractive as the factory made mount might have been but it saved me a lot of work and will last probably the rest of my days. And it looks OK on the whole. Also it does not look out of place with the other 5 or 6 mailboxes in our spot on the side of our rural road.

As designed the door will fall all the way down 180 degrees when the mail person is filling it with mail. They don't hold it with one hand like a home owner would. Both corners at the bottom of the door split within 1 month. 1 hinge pivot point failed within 2 months. If you purchase be prepared to engineer a method to hold the door from falling past 90 degrees open. Strap, or screen door spring? Good luck!

Door hinges failed after less than a year in normal residential service. Called Customer Service and was told they only warrant them for 90 days. Terrible Customer Service for an expensive mailbox.

Door split at the hinges after 2 months and now the door has completely broken off. Poor design and cheap construction. Reading through the reviews, it appears that this is a common problem with these mailboxes.

I really liked the size of this mailbox but it has a serious defect with the door. After six months the rivets that hinge the door to the mailbox broke off. I was able to create a makeshift work-around but now after ten months the metal on the door where the rivet goes through has completely broke. This is just from normal use. Very disappointed, and the manufacturer only provides a 90 day warranty.

  • Fits a 12" x 7" x 14" parcel
  • May 24, 2017

All metal, excellent painted throughout. Fits an extra large parcel. Weather stripped door. Ribbed bottom for strength. I had it up in less than an hour. Add your house numbers for a great looking mailbox. Add your own wooden base or buy a prefabricated base to attach to your post. Check the USPS website for proper mounting heights and distance from the curb for front of box. Shipped to my home in a sturdy over pack.

Interior size is significantly reduced by a brace inside the door that cuts off about 3 inches of height. The door broke off after 4 months. The door hinge design prevents the door from opening fully, and it broke after delivery person rested a parcel on the open door. Other than poor usability and poor durability, it's an OK mailbox.

As noted by other reviewers, the door hinges are a problem on the mailbox. My door broke off after 5 months of normal use. Unfortunately this mailbox only has a 90 day warranty. Recommend looking elsewhere if you are interested in a mailbox that will last.
