The Glacier Bay grab bar is a good safety device. This one is 24 inches long and is 1 1/4 inches in diameter. It seems to be very strong and is made with stainless steel. It is rated to handle up to 600 lbs. I use this bar to pull myself up to get into a ships chair and to hold on during rough seas. It is rugged. Installation is simple and easy with the provided screws. Also, trim rings cover the installation screws.
Does the job and is a good value choice in nice stainless steel
Does the job and is a good value choice in nice stainless steel. It looks good and the stainless won't rust.
This bar gets the job done, especially if you can locate it on a stud. The "18" length makes it sound like it won't hit studs on 16, but you can make it work since the flanges are bigger. I didn't use wing-its, I hit a stud in a vertical installation.
It comes with 6 nice 2" stainless steel #10 screws. No rust will come from these.
Why not 5 stars? Because the little dent on the flange can be a pain. It doesn't look great, and it can be a bit clumsy to engage or disengage.
Always needed in our large shower. Have it installed before you really need it. Not just for ADA.
Easy to install after you use a stud finder to see where the studs run.
This is the best place to install to be able to hold the weight of someone needing a helping hand.
After installing, just slip the cover rings over the attachment points and you are done.
Nice brushed stainless steel will look great and not rust or color if you wipe it down after every shower.
This is a nice looking 24 inch grab bar. The width is very comfortable. It is smooth, my other one has some texture, which I prefer, but even wet it didn't feel slippery. I placed it on the edge for getting in and out of the tub. Installation requires screwing the flange ends in to a stud. They provide the screws. After locating the stud and marking the flange holes, I used a ceramic drill bit for the tile and then a wood drill bit. It feels really secure. The hardest part was removing and replacing the flange covers. I had to use a rubber mallet for both removal and final install. Was careful during the install to not crack the tiles. Once properly installed the covers stay put.
Glacier Bay grab bar was chosen to add to the shower for a feeling of more stability. Installation required drilling four holes which I lucked out and aligned with grout lines rather than having to drill through tile. At two feet long and at a height of three feet it works just fine for us. As we aged a need for grab bars seemed more important and Glacier Bay has a nice assortment from which to choose.
Strong, solid, well-made, awesome, awesome addition to any home--there when you need it!
These grab bars are OUTSTANDING! Installed properly, they are SOLID AS A ROCK, provide support, stability to someone that may be unsteady, unstable on their feet, or just needs some added support, especially when going up steps. I have one step in my garage, which I have already learned CAN BE a problem for someone unsteady on their feet. This grab bar will quickly, easily, inexpensively SOLVE that problem, add safety, stability where it is needed. I am not elderly, but I still have several grab bars in my home, primarily for when elderly visit, but not limited to elderly. Joint surgery is fairly common, other surgeries or injuries may also make us vulnerable to falls. It is GREAT when you have a SOLID support bar like this one there to grab onto, as needed. I want to PREVENT falls, keep my home safe for anyone that may be physically impaired, that enters my home. I have seen these grab bars make a TREMENDOUS DIFFERENCE; they are EXACTLY what is needed to offer support, stability where it is lacking. Some individuals may suffer from vertigo (dizziness); here too, these grab bars are invaluable. For a small cost, they deliver LOADS OF BENEFITS, tons of protection from falls, for being EXACTLY what you need, when you need it. This grab bar is SOLID AS A ROCK, very strong, high quality, well-made, will be an OUTSTANDING ADDITION to my home. I LOVE IT! Mostly, I love knowing that it will be there, when needed, to serve not only myself and my family, but also visitors to my home, which includes elderly. It hangs on the wall, so you forget that it is even there, but when needed, it seems priceless, exactly WHAT YOU NEED, when you need it. Its design is ideal, has no sharp edges.
These are FANTASTIC, I cannot say enough about them. I also like the price. Doesn't cost you an arm & a leg to make an improvement to your home that will make your home safer for ANYONE at any age that might be or become physically challenged. As we live longer, the need for these devices grows... the good news is that they can make ALL THE DIFFERENCE! I highly, highly, highly recommend this grab bar. I LOVE IT, and I think that you will too!
We wanted a grab bar for our bathtub/shower. I chose the Glacier Bay 24 in model. Our surround is thin fiberglass and I knew I needed to mount to studs. In order to hit studs a 24 in bar must be mounted at a 45 degree angle. I like the welded mounting rings on this model. They are sturdy and will hold up to a "grab" if needed. The mount ring covers fit tight and look good. The brushed nickel finish matches our shower head and tub spigot. I used the included stainless mounting screws. My only concern is lack of checkering on the bar itself.
We added a little caulking to play it safe. Also used the winglets that you buy separately… This gives me peace of mind for when my 80yr old mom is holding on. So far so good! It’s a nice looking bar and holding firm.

Just what I needed for my front porch stairs. The install instructions were sufficient for my purposes.
I suggest trying #10 screws in your 1/8” holes before installing bar.

Defective screws enclosed
Bar is good. The enclosed screws are not cut deep enough to prevent these screwdriver from slipping. The instructions recommend a 1/8 inch drill bit but a larger drill bit is necessary to get the screws in. I had to go back and purchase hex head screws just to get the bar on the wall! Very frustrating!

I think this product is of good quality. I installed it vertically on the side wall of an elderly relative's stall shower along with a 36" grab bar horizontally on the rear wall. Mounting to studs was not an option because of where they were located. I used Bosch GT3000 carbide tipped glass and tile bits to drill 1/2" holes through the ceramic tiles and backing, which worked really well. Bars were mounted to the wall using 1/4" Fliptoggles. I needed 8 total for the 2 bars. They came in a package of 10. As many people have reported, some get lost behind the wall. I lost 2, even being really careful installing them. So if you go this route, make sure you have some extras. I used 2" long 1/4"-20 stainless machine screws instead of the zinc coated steel ones that come with the Fliptoggles because of the wet location. Wingits could have been used but would have required 3/4" holes (which I thought might be more difficult to drill than 1/2") and they cost a lot more than the Fliptoggles and stainless machine screws ($60 vs. $15 total for 2 bars). Aside from losing a few Fliptoggles the installation went smoothly.

DIY Drilling and Secret Tips
The final result is satisfactory even great but a few problems came up during installation. Google search and Youtube videos really helped solve them. The instructions state 1/8 inch drill bit but the screws are bigger. We bought 1/8 inch carbide tip for tile but screws were too big so I tried skinnier screws. Initial start hole was difficult from slipping on the tile plus one carbide tip broke off. After watching expert DIY professionals, using masking tape and 2 types of drill bits made it much easier. We bought more carbide drill bits but with 4 different sizes. I redid the holes using 3/16 carbide tile tip to drill thru tile then changed to #12 wood drill tip for wood. After the bigger holes were drilled, I used instant glue on the screw shafts to adhere to the inside wall or they would be loose. (The instructions really should have recommended a size in between the 1/8 inch drill tip and the larger screws in the package.) This was for our mother and it saved us some money for labor by doing it.

BUYER BEWARE!
Purchaesd this grab bar, the Wingits anchors, and Wingits drill bit, as the packaging for the grab bar indicated that it was Wingits compatible. All items were merchandised together and the use of a specific wall anchor SHOULD indicate that these products have been tested to determine that they are, in fact, compatible. This is not the case. Shame on Home Depot for such misleading packaging and display! To make the system work, I had to break apart the anchor system and use indelendently - but the end result still shows the location of 3 of the 4 anchors. Best decision i have made for safety
As a senior i have needed a grab bar for a while To keep my balance. I was actually using the shower curtain. This Glaclier Bay grab bar took some planning to get both ends into studs but installed perfectly by following directions. I even installed the towel hook to avoid reaching over to the vanity for towel. Handy man wanted $300.00, i did it for price of bar and hook. Less then $50.00. Bar is stainless with stainless screws and solid as a rock. Never felt more safe!!!

This bar was rather easy to install, but takes a couple of hours. (Finding the studs took the most time.) It's very strong and secure. We bought two of them; one for a bathroom shower and one for the garage stairs.

So easy to install, be sure to use a large enough drill when setting into wooden wall studs. I have installed 2 of these, both were very easy, be sure to find wall studs before starting. There are plenty of holes to mount screws. A very solid grab bar.

18 in. x 1-1/4 in. Concealed Screw ADA Compliant Grab Bar in Brushed Stainless Steel
These grab bars are attractive and functional. They blend in nicely with our other towel bars etc. We installed two, one horizontal in the tub area back wall to assist with getting up in the tub and the other vertically to assist with getting out of the tub safely. They have a simple and secure concealed screw mounting system, with snap on covers - mounting hardware is included. Nice brushed stainless steel finish. ADA Compliant, Exceeding ADA standards, instructions also say it will supports up to 500 lbs. We have had these installed for approx 2 weeks and would highly recommend them.
