GoWise USA came up huge on the 17 quart Mojave Air Fryer and Dehydrator. While I did receive the product from GoWise USA, the opinions in this review are my own. If you're considering your first air fryer or if you're upgrading from a smaller units that only has a frying basket, you'll love this machine. It comes with lots of accessories and the interior room is amazing. Based on my experience, you can cook enough food in it simultaneously, to feed a family of 4-6 (no more frying in batches). Size is a big factor when choosing an air fryer. The Mojave's oven style, large interior contains 5 racks giving you ample space to cook or dehydrate enough for everyone in the family at the same time, without over crowding your food, this is important if your goal is to get your food crispy. The Mojave certainly has plenty of space on the inside without being overly bulky on the outside. Bake, dehydrate or fry, you can do it all in this machine & typically in less time! Accessories are another big bonus with this machine. You get three different accessories that can be used with the rotisserie function, the rotisserie spit & forks, the skewer rotisserie, & the tumbling basket. Another great accessory was the handle for removing food from the rotisserie when it is complete. This saves a lot of burnt fingers & messed up pot holders. Another accessory is the deep mesh rack basket, I was impressed with its quality. It is at least 2 inches deep and can accommodate a variety of foods. I found the metal mesh of both the baskets and the racks to be a decent thickness and quite sturdy, they did not warp or flex with use. The presets feature takes the guesswork out of things for new users and I found the ones I used most were available on the Mojave. The unit also has the ability to set your specific temp and adjust to what ever cooking time is needed, which makes your options limitless. It's easy to use, makes great food, has earned its spot on my counter, and it's used almost daily!!
This machine is a beast! It's quite large so it will take up a good amount of space on your counter, but it does the job of 4 appliances! It's really nice - it's well built, it heats up quickly, and it's easy to use. It comes with 2 recipe booklets to get you started. I love that it has a viewing window so you can watch your food cook and keep an eye on it throughout the various stages of cooking. My old air fryer did not have a window so I often had to open it up, which let the heat out, to check the food. There's also a light that you can turn on for a better view. It comes with a bunch of accessories - 5 mesh racks, a rotisserie basket, rod, and tongs, kabob skewers, a mesh basket, and a drip tray. It's not extremely loud, and the outside of it got warm but not so warm that it could not be touched. You can use the preset time and temperature buttons on the touch screen, or you can use the up/down arrows on either side of the touch screen to manually set your own time and temperature.
I have used this machine a few times now and it's worked well for some things and not so well for others. My first experience using this air fryer was not great. I tried making grilled cheese sandwiches (there's a recipe in the recipe book included with this air fryer for spicy grilled cheese sandwiches). After 5 minutes the pieces of bread on top of the sandwiches was turning a golden brown in some places. I checked the bottom pieces of bread and they were not cooking at all, still very soggy with butter. I flipped the sandwiches over to let the bottoms cook for another 5 minutes. The sandwiches were just okay - not like "grilled cheese sandwiches" at all, more like crunchy, crumbly, toasted cheese sandwiches. The crust was very hard and dry. I don't think I'll try making those in this machine again.
I also attempted to use this over to reheat leftover pizza...that did not go well either. I had one mesh rack on the 2nd lowest notch and another mesh rack on the notch above that rack. The 2nd mesh rack was in the middle of the machine. The pizza on the lowest rack came out fine, but the pizza that was in the middle rack was burnt and inedible. The crust was like a brick. If you want to use this machine to reheat pizza, I recommend putting on the lowest racks.
I used this machine to make chicken breasts dredged in olive oil and a bread crumb coating. These came out pretty good! The chicken was VERY juicy and tender, the crumb coating was crispy and a lovely golden brown. The bottom side of each piece was a little soggy, but it wasn't a huge deal. Next time I will flip them part way through cooking. After having success with chicken breasts I tried the same thing with breaded pork chops, and again they came out great - very tender and juicy with a crispy golden brown crumb coating.
I have not yet had a chance to try a rotisserie chicken or dehydrating anything, but I have used the rotisserie basket to make french fries and those came out perfectly!
We love it so far, and will start using it more and become more adventurous with it over time. It's much faster and more convenient to use this than to wait for the big oven to preheat, and then heat up the whole house. It's perfect for heating up snacks for after school or in-between meals. We 100% recommend it! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
This appliance is soo versatile! It can do so many different things. From meats to baked goods. The best thing is being able to cook breaded chicken without having to get multiple pans dirty and have to clean and put away any used oil. The chicken came out nice and juicy and crispy! I also dehydrated some blueberries and strawberries and was able to set it while I slept and woke up and it was off and the fruit was ready to go. I can’t wait to play with it some more and rotisserie a chicken and see what more it can do.
It is a pretty large appliance so it’s hard to find a good spot for it to stay on tour counter. But great to have. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
This air fryer is bulky, but if you’re going to have the bulk at least you’ve got the space inside to justify it. I like that I can stack three or four mesh racks and get plenty of food done at once instead of doing three or four separate batches like in a regular air fryer. Air flow is great, food is cooked and crispy. I did a rotisserie chicken and it came out perfect in 85 minutes. I can roast vegetables in 10-15 min where it used to take me an hour in my oven. The handle prevents the door from opening all the way unless you fully clear the countertop, but that’s really nitpicking when you consider how useful this appliance is. Great brand! This Mohave GoWiseUSA Air Fryer is an amazing addition to my kitchen! Everything cooked in the air fryer has turned out INCREDIBLE! We cooked a 14lb Turkey for Thanksgiving and everyone told us it was the best Turkey they had ever eaten! It only took 3.5hrs and it was cooked perfect. There is a fryer basket that rotates which is shaking up the fries, wings, ect. constantly, giving a perfectly even and crispy cook to them! Using air rather than deep frying cuts out most if not all of the oil you use. With 5 shelves it leaves you so much room to cook different things or large amounts. This air fryer comes with so many attachments, shelves, fryer basket, rotisserie fork, and rotisserie skewer sticks. Everything from chicken wings, dehydrated fruit, and cake turn out incredibly! I definitely recommends this air fryer/dehydrator. It is very user friendly, easy to clean, and preheat so fast! With a digital touchscreen it is extremely easy to choose your settings! The window is nice and clear with an indoor light allowing you to see what is happening inside. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
