Hello Redwood I'm sorry to read that you're experiencing some issues with the chain. The chain is correctly tensioned when there is no sag on the underside of the guide bar and when the chain is snug, but can be turned by hand without binding. New chains tend to stretch. Check the chain tension frequently and tension as required. A chain tensioned while warm may be too tight upon cooling. Check the "cold tension" before next use. You can find more information about the replacing the bar guide and chain here https://www.youtube.com/watch?annotation_id=annotation_3915384415&feature=iv&src_vid=rqOhYH-iRbo&v=PyoS8VZSCc8 If you feel that the chainsaw is not functioning accordingly please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Care Department. They can be reached on our direct line at 1-888-909-6757 we would be happy to take a closer look at your tool.

For an electric chainsaw, works well. Only down side is limited distance from electrical source. If you have a small generator, then no problem! Love not having to worry about mixing fuel and the dreaded pull start. Down side is that this size is not immediately available in the store. Wait time was only 1 week from order to store pickup.

Clean, Quiet, & Greener than gas models
Great for trimming firewood near and electrical outlet. For remote work I used a portable generator. Like any other power tool the battery powered are much more convenient to operate but no battery charging issues are great for extended use. Not as powerful as my prior gas saws but infinitely cleaner.

        Cain Tension
Chain tension doesn’t tighten and keeps coming off. Could not finish cutting down a small tree. Called customer service and they are replacing the unit. Will the new one do the same thing? I’ll have to wait and see! Very disappointed.

Hello Frank Burd, Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to assist and rectify this issue for you. We see you have been in touch with our team. We are happy they were able to support you with this warranty claim. It's worth noting, chains stretch with use. When new, they stretch more. The tension on a new or newish chain should be checked and tightened every 20 minutes of cutting or so, it can get away from you fast. This is normal stretching. We look forward to your follow up review!

        Good and not so much....
plenty of power, but chain tensioner system is not very robust. Chain can and did come off rather easily. The oil delivery system leads to oil drip spills and puddles where saw is set, however does lubricate the chain. Inexpensive way to easily cut larger items if you can get around above issues.

made tow cuts & brushes smoked
Started smoking after second cut. I have made same cut many times with battery powered chain saw with no problems. Support has not answered my two emails on where to purchase brushes and Google search for Globe motor brushes has turned up nothing. My new saw is dead and can not be fixed. Waste of money.

Hello JFolse, We are sorry to hear you are experiencing some issues with the chain on this Chainsaw. We would like to offer this suggestion in the hopes it will improve your experience. The first step is to ensure that the chain wheel/ sprocket have a retaining clip holding it down. If the sprocket comes off so will the chain. If the sprocket is in place and the chain continues to come off, ensure the proper chain tensioning procedure is being done. A well tensioned chain should be taut enough that it will only allow a dime (10c) between itself and the bar. Here are some how-to video guides that may assist you with chain tensioning. You may find it beneficial to remove the bar and chain and reinstall it, and then tension the chain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=al2SoV1QqnI&list=PLlLcNiMNCMn_Qgcl7B3d1ly97pzCRZvjj&index=86 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXHvPxngQQM&list=PLlLcNiMNCMn_Qgcl7B3d1ly97pzCRZvjj&index=89 Lastly, separate pieces can be purchased through our third-party parts site OrderTree you can access the site HERE: https://greenworks.ordertree.com. Please use the parts list inside your owner's manual. If you are unable to locate the part, please send us a photo of the part(s) you are referring to. Simply give us a call at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS) we would be happy to help find replacement parts for your chain saw.
          Disappointing
Sorry guys. This is more of a toy than I was expecting. Chain speed slow. Motor is starting to bog down more easily. Chain easily come off when working with slight log binds. It does cut, but I would compare it to maybe a 30cc saw. I was hoping for closer to a 50cc saw comparison. Cut up a little over a cord so far. I have 4 more to do for winter. We'll see how it does.

            14.5 amp 18" corded chainsaw
I recently purchased this chainsaw, and I have to say that it was one of the best purchases I have made. This saw works very well in cutting all kinds of wood. I have cut pine, oak, and birch with it so far and it has the power to go through all of them like butter. I have had this saw for about two weeks now, and I cut some wood every day with it. It has the power to push through it without bogging down. The chain that came in it is very durable. I haven't had to sharpen it yet. To be honest, I was skeptical at first, but now I am very pleased. Great alternative to a gas powered chainsaw. No pulling a cord to start it, over and over. No mixing gas and oil, and it is very quiet compared to the gas powered ones. Another great thing is that it has great safety features. The chain stops spinning as soon as the trigger is released. Awesome chainsaw!

              Unexpected Power
My gas saw would not start. I bought this just for tree pruning. I broke this out and what a surprise! It performed flawlessly with unexpected power. Admittedly you must be careful with a cord in the way but as long as your cord c as n reach, it will do the job. This tree was 34" across. No problem.

                  Good Saw, Tensioning Knob cheap
Like the saw, it works well, seems to have enough power for the things I use it for, but the Tensioning Knob broke the first time I tried to tighten the chain. It's plastic, and the gears it is supposed to turn is metal, so the teeth on the knob just snapped off with very little pressure. Care must be taken when trying to tighten the chain, other than that, good saw.

                        Hello Gary
We're very sorry to read about the experience you've had with your Greenworks Chainsaw. The quality and safety of our units is important to GreenWorks. Please be assured that our units have been thoroughly tested and certified prior to their release. The extension cord, a very important part of any tool’s performance is getting it enough power to run correctly however it is a consideration which is sometimes overlooked. Select cords that are rated to handle the wattage of the devices with which they'll be used. A cord gauge indicates its size: the smaller the number, the larger the wire and the more electrical current the cord can safely handle. Also consider the length you'll need. Longer cords can't handle as much current as shorter cords of the same gauge. For outdoor projects, use only extension cords marked for outdoor use.
When using a power tool at a considerable distance from a power source, be sure to use an extension cord that has the capacity to handle the current the product will draw. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage, resulting in overheating and loss of power. Before using any extension cord, inspect it for loose or exposed wires and cut or worn insulation.
Again, our apologies for the troubles, we hope we can better meet your needs in the future. GreenworksTools
