If you're looking for a butcher block top that you can take home, seal, and install in a day or two, look elsewhere. However, if you have the tools and ability to properly prep the wood, then it's a viable option. I was able to see obvious mill marks in the wood, so these are definitely not ready for stain. The underside had several large knot holes that needed filled with wood filler prior to sanding. When I began sanding, I discovered several spots where the surface was higher or lower than the overall surface. This required significantly more sanding to level out the top surface. Once finished, it looks great. However, it took a very long time to get it to that point.

We remodeled our kitchen with these counters and saved a fortune! With 2 coats of stain and 4 coats of polyurethane, they are so durable and beautiful. Very pleased with the results

Absolutely beautiful butcher's block. The wood is perfectly smooth, no splintering whatsoever, and it's a solid piece of wood. We purchased counter height metal legs to make our own open island in our office kitchen, and it will be gorgeous.

Wanted to use this as countertop. Instructions said to treat within 48hrs of tearing down the plastic. Went into the store & found that every single piece of butcher block they had in stock was almost completely unwrapped=over 48 hrs had already passed of the plastic being torn down & it hadn’t been treated. Their personnel convinced me it didn’t matter so I bought it because they had limited stock & was afraid they would run out. Called customer service the next day & they weren’t helpful.

The butcher block was in great condition out of the package and very high quality for the price. I used it for an L-shaped desk and cut off a 20" portion that was connected on the side via dominos. Sanded it down with 120-220 grit sandpaper and finished with Rubio Monocoat Pure on both sides. The final product looks beautiful and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. Definitely recommend!

We love it! We had to trim it down a bit but put a stain over it and looks amazing. Great for a countertop

I really like the look of this product after applying mineral oil. Should have a nice long life. Glad I purchased with the rounded edge

Used this butcher block in our new kitchen. Cut and oiled directly out of the packaging. We used Milk Paint brand half and half tung oil (half pure tung oil, half food safe citrus solvent) which is a hardening oil. Installed after oiling and curing. They are holding up well and are easily wipeable with this finish. They feel is a bit rough but as expected. For the price these countertops are good so far!

Material was easy to work with however two weeks after installation it cupped 1/8th inch. Reached out to hardwood reflections and the representative told me to uninstall and apply weight to level it out. Disappointed after spending over $1500 on their product to get that kind of support.

When I read the reviews, there are a few that gave it a 1 star. The countertop is made of wood and wood is just not perfect. It was a little warped but when I installed it I used screws in just a few places and it laid flat. It looks beautiful! I used a matt finish, looks amazing. Now I need to finish the walls with ship lap and paint the cabinets!

This was choose to be the top of my latest steel table assembly. Matched perfect.

I can't recommend this countertop because it split on a factory glued joint within three months of installing. The countertop is not glued down, so it has space to expand. The edge is a factory edge (I didn't cut it). I sealed the countertop within a couple hours of opening the plastic, and I put several coats of finish on it. We don't put wet things or exceptionally hot/cold things on it. I can't imagine a way that this isn't a flaw in the product.

When I came home to see it, it looked beautiful!!! One side was spotted and lots of imperfections, but the other was beautiful and clean and smooth. I used this for a cart I had built. I used a conditioner then a polyura-something clear gloss to coat the top. I wasn't going to use this for food so that's why I coated it. It was very heavy and completely solid. I'd purchase again JUST BECAUSE OF THE PRICE AND QUALITY!!! Thank you Home Depot!

a bit heavy but I was able to lift it onto the truck. I used a 60 tooth Diablo on a circular saw, had a little tear but easy to sand off. block had some divots so I use the reverse side. I did want to do Granite for my parents kitchen renovation but I could not lift that by myself. this Butcher Block was much easier and I do like the choice. do not forget to add mineral oil and conditioner once installed

Got this seeing it was “finish quality” it had a lot of chatter either from planing or sanding at the factory. Did not discover until after first coat of stain should have hit it with acetone first but trusted the product Front edge had sanding stalls Both sides had bark pits although slight they had to be dealt with and sanded Took a lot of 40 grit to get out chatter then about an hour or building up to 220. Was not expecting so much work for the price Final product turned out nice

Great butcher block for my kitchen

A great piece, easy to work with. I installed this along with the 8 foot version as a l-shaped countertop on a home bar. Very pleased with the end result.

This product worked out great for mad cabin project, I will buy this again.

I purchased two of these 6ft birch counter tops for use as a new desktop across a 12ft span. They are resting on Ikea Alex drawer. Overall the tops are solidly built and took the finish well. There are some small knots on the A-side I am not a fan of though. Finish: Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C in Chocolate - single coat application. Sanded from 120 to 180 grit on all sides. Pictures in garage are immediately after application and pictures in the office are 48hrs after application.

Beautiful butcher block

This turned out great. I stained the block in a number of samples, hope it helps others! My garage has two sets of lights, so I have examples in both. From left to right, top to bottom (Each square is half one coat, half two coats. Made little difference and I used 3 coats at the end). All stains/poly are Varathane: Golden Oak, Golden Pecan, Untreated, Natural, Ipswich Pine, Danish Oil Light Walnut (Not Varathane. Two coats, half without poly, half with). Poly was crystal clear semi-gloss.

So my spouse suggested I cut up a maple butcher block table I have to make a walnut stained vanity top for the bathroom. I saw this in my local HD and decided to try it. Luckily I watched a video on staining birch and stopped to the HD paint department. The paint rep found me some Varathane (8 oz.) Wood Conditioner. I sanded this block with different grit, applied the conditioner, sanded and stained. I am not real happy with the end product as birch stains very blotchy, (pictures below). But the price was good for the product. And saved my maple ...for the time being.

These cabinets have solid wood doors and faceframes and are very beautiful. We chose solid butcherblock countertops for complete harmony. We also used the all-in-one sink/faucet/drain assembly with grid. We used 2 coats of stain 2 coats of poly for finish and protection.

Beautiful and heavy. Much better option than any cheap laminate.
