One side was better finished than the other, but I only needed to show Ione side. Rubbed in 4 coats of Danish oil with the dark walnut stain,, and three coats of wipe-on poly. Made a bathroom countertop and the sink cutout is now a cutting board.

Beautiful piece of wood - my husband used tung oil on it and is using it for his desk - lovely!

My experience with this butcher block was excellent. The one I received was of great quality, fit and finish was perfect. I ordered the 6 foot block so I could cut it down as an enclosure around a dishwasher. I also sealed it with Rubio Monocoat Pure to bring out the natural grain figure and a beautiful honey color of the Birch.

We used this butcher block for our galley style kitchen. Finished with a water based oil modified polyurethane since we did not want the upkeep of mineral oil and will not prep food directly on the surface. It turned out perfect and the Hardwood Reflections youtube videos were very helpful. I was impressed with the shipping of our 10ft piece- it came in great condition and was sealed very well. We made sure to follow the recommendation to keep it in shrinkwrap and apply finish within 48 hrs of opening (I think this is the most important part to prevent damage).

Works perfect for my desk. Love it! Will be buying another one for my wife's crafting desk.

Surprised to find this is a finished surface with rounded edges, no sanding was required. After 8 coats of polyurethane is has a beautiful durable surface. This was also well packaged to protect the surfaces and the edges. Used it for a kitchen island.

This butcher block is awesome - great quality, and easy to work with, even for a novice DIY-er. Cuts nicely with a simple circular saw, and oils up beautifully with pure mineral oil. I’m so glad I decided to use it for my home office project! I used as both a countertop and a floating desk.

We used this to cover a vanity that we turned into an island.. there were a few knots that were easily filled .. and we stained with a food safe and it's beautiful.

I actually love the birch. I would say that unfortunately it is too bright for me so I stained it with dark chestnut color to give a nice darker shade. I suggest people to buy the stain and the finisher separately. I will say that when you move this thing (it's heavy) it can chip from the sides so do be careful. I basically cut 9 inches off of the width and made it a standing desk. Also you don't have to presand this, which is a huge plus. There's some learning if you're a novice like me, but I am super happy how it came out. Last but not least, if you intend to make this a desk, make sure to drill a hole and insert a lining to basically reuse the block as a desk in case you want to take apart the desk and move elsewhere. Anyways, tldr: I love the block wish it was darker, but the birch is a lot brighter/colorful than the image suggests and it's heavy. The thing comes presanded so you don't have to sand it before staining.

Packaging was beat up pretty bad but there was enough protection that the wood was untouched! Looks great after stain!

Make sure you select your own. I picked mine up at customer service desk after ordering on-line and I think they picked the crappiest one for me. One side was fine, the other side had manufacturing defects and voids in the surface. It worked out for my use but I was a little disappointed.

We used these in our kitchen remodel. First time working with butcher block. Purchased 4’, 6’, and 8’. The pieces were easy to sand but takes the stain really quick so you just move fast in order to avoid streaks. **Please note as I learned...DO NOT cheap out on the blades to cut it.** I needed a new one for my circular saw and went the cheap route. It flexed so much it had started to walk away from me. Luckily it was on the scrap side. If you aren’t careful, it becomes an expensive mistake. So I purchased a good name brand blade and cut through like butter. The under mount sink hole was a little nerve racking due to the complexity of the curves. I must say they came out really nice! Applied one coat of American Oak stain and have applied 2 coats of conditioner after 2 coats of mineral oil.

The wood looks great. Took the stain well. Would get this for other counters.

I bought this butcher block island top to use on my new assembly table/ table saw outfeed table. It is 1.5" think and very flat. It added 110 pounds of heft to make a solid surface to work on in my woodshop. I'm very excited to have such a nice table top and it saved lots of time compared to gluing one up.

Pretty nice, but did contain some flaws. I had one 8 foot, one 6 foot, and 2 four foot countertops to make two L desks. Typically one side would have more flaws than the other, and that one would be thr bottom. A couple of things for newbies to note: these are longer than the header lists by 2 inches. Messed up my floor plan. Also, you find out after opening (vis a paper on the inside of the wrapping) that they start warping after exposure to ambient moisture if you don’t finish them within a couple of days. Did find this to be true, as we didnt have all our project supplies right away. Did turn out great anyway. Note: the 6 and 4 footer are in the photo. The 8 footer is out of frame.

I really wanted to give this 5 stars but one flaw knocks it down to 2 for me. Right on the edge of the counter top is a flaw that was filled in with wood putty. It was unnoticeable until the second I put mineral oil on it, at which point it stood out like a flashing light. By that time it had already been cut to size and put in place. Other than that, it's beautiful.

Purchased this to finish a section in my kitchen and knew it would be too hard to match the existing granite. Read about how to seal it and went with mineral oil since I didnt want it to be too orange and may occasionally use for food prep. Measured and cut to size, sanded and oiled. Very happy with the end result.

The butcher block I received is very nice. It was shipped well packaged and there was no damage. All surfaces were sanded ready for finish. Because I used this as a tabletop for a workstation I applied stain and clear coat. There are no separations between glued pieces. I am very satisfied with this product and would purchase again.

I bought this one year ago, stain and put polyurethane. Looks amazing. However by the time it started bowing from the edges.

Good product, should last a long time if finished and maintained properly. Lots of good informational videos available.

Just as expected. We used a food safe polyurethane finish on it. We did have to sand it a couple times for a satin smooth finish we wanted.
