It’s beautiful and light. I’m not putting a stain on it - only sealing with wood oil. I changed from ash to birch and I’m happy I did.

Packaging was awesome, delivery was quick, the this is an ideal product for for many uses.. Easy to sand and stain or seal. 100% a quality product and delivered quickly. Absolutely recommend. Quick sand, Tung Oil or Teak Oil. Boooom. Done.

I was very excited about getting this installed. It’s a very nice looking countertop. It was easy to install as I had it cut to size. Looks great! However, I’ve had it installed for less than a month and there are already dents in it. I don’t know where they came from or how they got there because I’ve been babying the surface since I had it installed. But I’m definitely not happy with how easily the surface gets banged up. And I know that the surface wouldn’t stay pristine forever. I expected the wood to age. However, not this soon in. I would have purchased a different type of wood had I know how soft it was.

I spent a ton of time deliberating what type of wood to get -- ash, beech, alder, maple? Ultimately decided on the ash, and couldn't be happier. Finished, the wood has the beautiful warm tone I was going for, and the grain pop on the ash is exceptional (thanks for the rec Jake!). The light/dark strips of wood were well balanced and placed, and give the wood a visually interesting "meta-texture". The wood was fairly well sanded when it arrived, though I took it through the paces to ensure there were no rough spots. Both sides looked fairly good, though there was a clear A and B side (B had a few small knots). I finished with General Finishes Satin Arm-R-Seal and this countertop + that finish turned out to be a match made in heaven. The last thing to mention is that this piece of solid ash is HEAVY. I had to work on it and move it around without assistance and needed to use a furniture dolly to wheel it around. And now, I'll let the pictures do the talking!

Cut it in 2 pieces to make 2 shelves for my laundry room. Very high quality piece of wood. Arrived with no damage, almost no blemishes. I purchased a 10 foot piece and it was very heavy, you may need a second person to help maneuver it. Very happy with purchase. I have a left over piece, I am going to use it as a cutting board (after I confirm its food safe). Very happy with the purchase. Have to get it shipped and pay for shipping but its too heavy to pick up anyway. Would purchase again.

I had a good experience and love the results, finished firstly with the mineral oil then realized I need more protection so covered it with 3 layers of oil-based poly.

This piece was a perfect fit for project. It ended up having wonderful look with the gel stain we used.

EVEN BETTER THAN EXPECTED! The unfinished countertop was so gorgeous I hesitated to stain it, as I originally planned. Even though the lighter ash color looked amazing and arrived in perfect condition I decided to proceed with the original plan to stain it red mahogany. I can’t even believe how gorgeous it looks now and the depth of the colors - just wow! This will definitely be a showpiece in our home and I would HIGHLY recommend it. The quality can't be beaten for such a great price!

Very nice quality. Packaging was better than expected including plastic corner protectors. Delivered ahead of promised date. Accepted stain evenly and looks beautiful with satin polyurethane. Recommended. I use as a stereo shelf with six 2” spikes. Looks great and is super solid.

Used it for my desk and love it. Came well packaged and felt like good quality wood. I sanded it down with 220 grit sandpaper and 400 grit sandpaper, then applied 2 coats of butcher block conditioner on all sides. Then I applied polyurethane to one side but ended up liking the look of bare wood more.

After searching for a nice looking and affordable butcher block for our kitchen island, we came across this one. It looks great and has held up really great too (we have had it for 3 years now) You can't beat the price!

I had to write a review. I bought a home and wanted to replace the old 80's countertops in the kitchen. I am an avid DIYer and wanted something nice but not too expensive. I first looked at other types of countertops but with purchase and installation, I couldn't afford it. I thought of concrete but my kitchen design would have required an "in place" install... my kitchen is on the second floor... no way... too much work and a mess. So I kept looking... and found Hardwood Reflections at the Home Depot website. Reviews were good and after checking out the options I decided on the Ash. At first the items I needed to complete the job were unavailable (2-8 fts and 1-wider 6ft)... so I waited. It took a little over a month and after a little difficulty with Home Depot delivery and scheduling... I received my items. They ended up stacked against my home, sitting on ice (literally) for a few hours... but made it. I was worried they were damaged by the time spent outside and the delivery guy(s). It looked as if he (or they) had dragged them from the truck to my front door. The corners of the packaging were worn away, the cardboard wet and ragged... and there was a drag mark from the curb to my front door. I was sure I was going to returning them... and asking UPS or whoever to pay for them. So after a bit of heavy lifting on my part I managed to get them up the stairs and into my work area (second floor). I decided to let them acclimate to the temp inside before taking a look, worried I would have to get ready to send them back. The next day I opened them up to see how bad the damage was. There was none... not even a scuff. While the corner that had been dragged along the ground had worn away the cardboard shipping box... the superb packaging surrounding the wood itself was enough to protect the butch block. I was amazed These Ash butcher block countertops are beautiful... even sitting in a hallway waiting for me to install them... a wooden monolith... stunningly beautiful (in a woodworkers eyes at least) The seams are flawless, the finish (one side better than the other) is as advertised. After seeing these up close... I was going to stain them... but I might just oil them and leave them natural. Thanks to the folks in South Dakota for such a beautiful product. This guy in Minnesota appreciates it... A LOT. PS - I have to wait till I can get a few more renovation jobs done (not much space left around my place considering it is a total renovation... floor to ceiling... or more like ceiling to floor) but I intend to get another of the extra wide 6ft sections and make a dining room table as soon as I can.

Pretty wood, well sanded on both sides. Better side had no damage but other side had a few dents. I finished this counter with tung oil twice and it looks very nice. I didn't have to sand at all but plan to round the edges a little. I haven't installed it yet.

This product exceeded my expectations. It is of great quality and looks beautiful in my garage.

This is a beautiful quality piece of wood. I just got it installed today. I've used it on the top of a sideboard in my kitchen. It is nicer than I actually expected. Thick and rich looking. If you are looking for a butcher block counter top this is really beautiful with a very reasonable price. It can be stained to another color if desired. I left it natural and oiled it.

This was purchased for a desk top. One side of the butcher block is riddled with putty to fill fairly large holes and gaps. There are also a number of very identifiable spaces where wood pieces were pressed together. Some discolouration of the wood here and there (greenish-looking), and some chipping of the wood on the end (looks like veneer?). Fortunately, one side of the block is affected more than the other, so we used the ugly side underneath. Not pleased for the price tag, but we needed the desk top asap, so we kept it. The good side looks great when finished with oil.

This unfinished Ash met my expectation.

Looks beautiful and finished nicely. It is very heavy so be prepared to have help when moving.

Was surprised at the quality of the solid ash top. It became a beautiful finished product after some radius cuts on the corners and a nice tung oil varnish, hand-rubbed finish.

Product came as described in great condition and after treating it with mineral oil it looks outstanding on my new kitchen island!

Nice slab! I used it to make a mudroom bench. The ash takes stain well, polyurethaned up nicely. It was sanded to a decent finish, I completed it with a quick hit with 220 paper on an orbital sander. Take your time cutting it with a quality, coated, fine tooth finish blade, I used a Diablo 60T It came well packaged with no damage for my home delivery.

I used this butcher block to make a DIY mid century modern type of dining table and I am super happy with how it turned out. The butcher block had the perfect dimensions 74 x 39 for my dining table space and I didn't have to do any ripping. It is fairly smooth on surface so all I had to do was hand sanding with 120 and 220 grit sandpaper. I ordered a second one to make a matching bench and a coffee table!

Beautiful, simply beautiful

This product is great, however it was received with a large chip on one of the corners. Returning this heavy piece of wood is not ideal, so I'm going to simply wood glue it back together. Other than that, the wood is beautiful.

The wood is beautiful great size for a island made with black pipe for the price.Make sure you use butcher block oil before using no negative comment for this product.

Looked good as my contractor and I unwrapped it. Then discovered a full length crack. All the way through. Corners unusable plus the 4 inches of full length that was cracked all the way through. Quite unhappy as this was ordered on a timeline to finish a kitchen upgrade. Home Depot, I throw you a lot of my money. This is unacceptable. What can you do to make it right?

Overall a nice piece of wood. Unfortunately it did have several deep dents which I had to "work around" . After I cut it down, I did oak stain and 5 coats of wipe on poly.
