This column worked just enough. A larger column in diameter would have been better suited for the homeowner.

The went up beautifully! Painted beautifully!

I installed 7 columns and base/caps. Installation instructions were good the columns cut easily with a carbide tipped blade and everything went smoothly. It would have been nice to have the installation kit described in the instructions but it wasn't needed

these are actually 6" columns .the base and cap are 8" . used 9 columns on a project .3 of them had 1/4 " imperfections i had to fill for the customer .

Very steady, just what I needed.

The finish was very rough and took me over a hour of sanding to bring it to an acceptable level, also the decorative finish at the top was damaged and had to be filled with Bondo. If you don't mind all the extra work they look good after finishing.

The column itself is fine, but the installation instructions on Home Depots own website, have a specific flashing cap for use with the columns. Home Depot doesn't carry the flashing cap, and not one associate was able to suggest a good option available from the store, so I had to find them online.

Where to start? First, out of 6 columns, only one was plumb at the top or bottom. To cut to length, I needed to measure from the decorative band at the top and add 5 1/8" to get the 84" desired length. The distance form the band to the top varied from 5' to 5 3/16". The bottoms also were not plumb. If your not good at measuring fractions, your in real trouble.There was one column that was plumb, but the decorative band at the top of that one was only 4 1/2" from the top. Glad I checked that before measuring and cutting off the bottom. The columns were not smooth, and needed a lot of work to sand off bumps or fill indentations. At times it felt as if I should have just cut down a tree and whittled it into a column to save time. Then they suggest as an alternative to sanding, you could use siding wash to prep the columns. Forget that. They need to be sanded. And the column caps and bottoms? One box had 2 tops in it. That would have been OK if another box had 2 bottoms in it. And a couple of them looked as if they had been used as hockey pucks. I think the quality control person was on vacation the week that these left the plant.

This purchase was a replacement for one bought in 2006 from Home Depot. That one has failed due to too thin a wall thickness at the top where a box beam had rested...

The tops and bottoms of the columns are insufficiently protected from damage in transit prior to sale. Two of the columns I purchased were damaged at their bases only to be discovered upon unwrapping.

The order pickup process was a nightmare... product was excellent. Inventory was a mess.

Very nice looking and very strong. Just what I needed to complete my front porch replacement. Old collums were made of wood and starting to rot & come apart at the many seams,mostly at the base. Would recommend to anyone replacing old columns,or putting in new ones. They really just need cut to size & a couple coats of paint.

These should be sold all together as one piece. meaning the column and the top & bottom pieces.

Worked well for the application... Well manufactured product..

I had two pressure treated 4x4's as posts and put these in and they look MUCH better and do the job better than the 4x4's.
