Worked for what I needed it for.

The wood split badly

High rating because it is good for its advertised purpose. It did not work for me. I wanted to fill a hollow fiberglass pole for added strength. The wood dowel is a few thousandths over 1” and the ID of the fiberglass pole is a few thousandths under 1”.

I needed this exact size wood pole for a patio lounge chair project. I used it to make an axle for the wood wheels and it was perfect. Very happy HD carries project wood along with bulk wood.

Great dowel. Exactly what I needed to fix my patio lounger.

I did not pick theses out myself as ordered for curbside pick-up. 3 of the dowels had large knots and were unusable. I needed them to support the weight of a toddler and besides being ugly they flexed at the knot

Most of these were pine despite the product being labeled as "hardwood". So tired of being ripped off by Home Depot.

I am making Roman Shades so these are the rods that will draw the shades up & down. I have used them before and they work well. I ALWAYS LIGHTLY SAND WITH HAND HELD SANDPAPER THE EDGES TO MAKE SURE THE FABRIC DOESN'T SNAG ON THE DOWELS!

There was a slight bend in the dowel. Luckily I was cutting down to short 3 inch segments, so it didn't matter as much. If I picked up in store, I would have looked through the pile for a perfectly straight piece.

Given the wrong size. Someone need to learn how to measure. But it is what it is.

Only one was 1in the other 3 were 5/8 in but I used them any way

Very solid. The sum total of my daughters dresses (at least all that I could fit on a 48" length) did not cause it to flex at all.

Straight and unblemished. Perfect Furniture Grade lumber.

Just what I wanted for making paper towel hubs for all over the house !

I needed a "strongly grained" wood dowel. Home Depot had a fine selection... They were all fine and i chose dowels with the most pronounced wood grain. Many others showed practically no wood grain at all (Which some may prefer, depending on the specific use). The dowels were excellent wood dowels. All were EXACTLY and consistently 1" in diameter..They were smooth straight, and perfect for my use. - I highly reccomend them.
