Just load and let it float. Nothing else to worry about. Fits the 3" tablets, or even the smaller ones. Absolutely the thing to use when your pool's motor is busted and your chlorine has gone unattended.
I switched from liquid chlorine to tabs because the sun was killing my free chlorine levels. This floater can hold up to four or five 3 inch chlorine tabs at once. I started out with three tabs in this floater and one in the skimmer. I’ve found this to be much easier of a routine and it has been more effective.
We needed a chlorine dispenser for our new pool so I got this from the Home Depot. I didn't even know they sold pool supplies. For less than $9.00 this fills the bill. It is large enough to hold multiple chlorine tablets and still float well in the pool. The blue ring you see around the bottom of the dispenser is used to adjust how much chlorine is leached into the water. Works well.
The floating chlorine dispenser is simple and functional in its design. There's not much to it really. You just open the top and place your chlorine tabs inside. Replace the lid and rotate the bottom to open or close the slots which adjusts the water exposure to the tabs. Close the slots to reduce the amount of chlorine dispensed. The thing just floats around the pool doing its job.
This HDX brand floating chlorine dispenser appears to be nearly identical to the ones that I purchased from my local pool store, but the HDX brand is half the price.
The plastic is thick and the dispenser appears to be well made. The lid rotates on and off easier than the my current pool store model, and the 'control ring' at the bottom easily slides open and closed.
In my pool, this style of chlorine float seems to last for 2-3 years before the top starts to oxidize and fade and the lid becomes hard to remove, so if this HDX brand model also lasts that long, it will be a great bargain given the much lower price.
The Floating Chlorine Dispenser was a 'happy' addition to my in-ground pool. The Floating Fairy helped fill the need for more chlorine, while the non-functioning sensor in the Zodiac Chlorinator was replaced. I used two 3" chlorine tablets in the dispenser, and they lasted for quite a while!
It was easy to open the Dispenser and check on the tablets, any time needed.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Easy to Install, Nice Design
