Matched old flooring perfectly

It's flimsy and not contracted well

After many years of searching for exactly what we wanted, my husband and I finally thought we had found that. The only problem was, Home Depot did not provide a sample in the store to see how much engineered hardwood there actually was. But we loved the look of the sample (it was framed on the wall so we could only see the top). Anyway, long story short, we loved the look and hoped the quality would match the look and we would finally be able to get nice looking engineered hardwood flooring without breaking the bank. We have had plywood flooring for 9 years so I was ready! So I ordered it online and waited with excitement. For starters, when it was delivered, the trucking company said they were only curbside delivery. Nowhere does Home Depot tell you that the trucking company is going to drop your pallets of flooring off alongside the road. I had to work the day that it came so my Mom stayed at our home to wait for them and was completely baffled when they arrived and said they were going to drop it off at the end of the driveway!!! Thankfully because she was there on behalf of us and she knew we had no idea this was how it was going to be, she was able to talk the person into bringing the pallets of flooring closer to the house. That should have been our first clue to run away I suppose…Sadly we did not. Once we got home and inspected it, my husband, who is a contractor, was disgusted at how thin the “engineered hardwood” was. I mean, we are talking 1/8” is probably too thick! Ridiculous! It’s mostly particle board. Then we were stuck wondering what to do! Return two pallets of flooring that we had hauled into the house, or take our chances on this awful flooring. He insisted that it would swell up if it got wet, so I took a piece and soaked it in water for over 24 hours. Thankfully it did not swell. He questioned the click-lock mechanism of the sides, and said it isn’t strong. He was able to easily pull it out of lock. Our second mistake was not realizing how pathetic the “hold” is on the ends. After deciding that we were in a lose-lose situation, we decided to lay the flooring. This involved removing a heavy cast iron wood stove and piece of flagstone in our living room. There was so much man power involved, which was nerve-wracking while being suspicious that the flooring would last even 5 years after that much work. We put the flooring in in December and the ends are separating. Someone else noted that in their review as well and I missed it when I read the reviews originally. It looks awful. Now my husband constantly tells me he told me it was garbage flooring and I should have listened and I literally have nightmares about it. I have to agree with the several reviews about the popping and cracking sound as well! It sounds like you’re breaking it when you walk on it! So frustrating! Do yourself a favor and run away from this product! Even though it looks nice, it is not worth wasting your time putting down. I’m so sad that I have to live with this product…It makes me never want to get anything from Home Depot again.

Flooring looks great- the boxes contained a few really light pieces that couldn’t be used. Other then that great price and holding up so far.

wouldn't reccomend, just get real wood flooring instead you'll be wishing you did in about a year.
