Hello. We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us about your experience with your new dishwasher, though we truly hate to hear you're having an issue with the door not latching and the machine not running. We know this would be concerning, especially when you only installed it last week. You may want to check that nothing is preventing the door from fully closing - if it's being blocked by the cabinet, or anything inside is obstructing it, it may not shut enough to allow the latch to engage. You might also want to check that the dishwasher is level and the door is aligned correctly; if any issue with installation is causing the unit to not be level or the door to be misaligned that could prevent a proper latch. If that may be the case, your installation instructions have information on these issues. Hi there - we are so sorry that your dishwasher's door is not latching and that you've had a poor experience so far with service. This would be disappointing and we completely understand your frustration. On new dishwashers, it may be necessary to push-in on the top center of the control panel while latching the door because the gasket is still stiff and may not yet have had an opportunity to seat properly. Up to ten dishwasher cycles may be required for wash cycle heat to help mold and seat the gasket - it will become more pliable after a few uses. Hello there, we're sorry to hear you're finding rust particles in your filter. We're sure this is concerning and we're happy to help. To prevent a reoccurrence of rust, keep objects prone to rusting out of the dishwasher, or prevent them from coming in contact with the dishwasher tub. We also want you to know that rust coming from the house water supply could be the indication of a plumbing problem requiring the attention of a plumber. To help with any rusting, we suggest the use of citric acid. Citric acid is available in liquid or crystal form. GE Appliances recommends the crystals because they will remain in the detergent cup until it is time to dispense the product, while the liquid is likely to run out before the detergent cup opens. Citric acid crystals are sometimes called "sour salt" and are available at some drug stores and most grocery stores in the canning or spice section. Also, citric acid can be used in both plastic and stainless steel interior dishwashers.
With that said, do not place silverware, aluminum items or other metals in the dishwasher during this process to avoid tarnishing those items. Dishes or glasses with "patterns" should not be left in the dishwasher when doing a citric acid treatment. Some "patterns" can be damaged or washed off. Hello there - thank you for this feedback. We apologize for the non-heated drying system and for the difficulty you're facing while loading dishes on the racks. We can see how discouraging this must be and we understand your disappointment. This model does not have a heated dry cycle. Instead, it uses an energy-efficient Condensate Dry System. It's important to note that the use of a rinse agent ensures spot and film protection for dishes and assists the drying process. The upper rack may be adjusted to accommodate larger items.
