Fantastic recessed LED lights
When remodeling my home and adding an addition I opted to go with recessed lighting in the ceilings. I wanted LED lights that I could control via WiFi and from Alexa and Google Home, but also be able to change the color temperature when I wanted to (never know when you want to change the color on the walls!). These lights were exactly what I needed. I first did my back patio, paired together with the Halo bluetooth wall light switch (HIWAC1BLE40AWH) that controls them. Setting them up in the Halo app on my iPhone was super easy and you can easily group the lights together to the switch. To control them over WiFi you need the small Halo bluetooth-to-wifi internet bridge that plugs into an outlet. With this setup the wall switch turns all of the lights on and off (and has a dimmer), then with the app or Alexa/Google I can turn individual lights on or off and control brightness of any or all of the lights. From the app I can also control the color temperature from 2700k to 5000k, and even make each of them different colors (not that I would, but I could!). After this I installed the same lights with Halo light switches in my living room, family room, office, and three bedrooms. I’ll also be installing them in two additional bedrooms once I get the retrofit cans installed in them. And speaking of cans, three of the rooms and the patio used Halo new construction cans, while the rest of the house were Halo retrofit versions (like the H27RICAT). Everything fit perfectly with no issues. In each of these rooms it’s great to be able to say “Alexa, living room lights 50 percent” or “Hey Google, turn on family room light #4”. You can name them anything you want, like my son who wanted his room to be “bodayshus”. I’ve had them installed now for over a year and they have been working great. The only problem I had was a couple of times the switch acted like it lost connection with the lights in one of the room, but cycling the breaker fixed this. Also one time the Halo server was down so the connection between the internet bridge and Halo caused Alexa and Google Home to not work in controlling them, but that problem went away once the server was back up. Overall I am extremely happy with these lights, the app, and the full control we have over the lights! Would highly recommend them together with the wall switch and bridge.

I wish I read the reviews first! Don't do it!
What a nightmare! I got the Halo recessed lights because they are supposed to turn on and off with my voice with a bridge. The app for the lights is a pain in the neck. And I don't really like the color of any of the options that the light gives off. So there's that. But on top of it all I buy the bridge and install it except I can't finish installing it because there's nowhere to put your password!! The app blocks the space where the password is to go and you cannot get to it. No matter how hard you try. It won't scroll. And try to get help from Cooper lighting? It's laughable. The only way to contact them is through email and then you have to wait to see if maybe they might respond. If I could I would rip every one of these lights out of my house and take them back. But I spent a lot of money having a contractor rip out my ceiling so I can put these lights in. So I'm not about to spend more money to have them rip them out and then put new ones back in. THESE SHOULD WORK PROPERLY! If anything Cooper lighting should pay ME For the complete waste of time and money! I am so mad!

Light color selectable via FREE app. Dimmable via the app too. I added three (3) photos so you can compare the Kelvin colors available. These are perfect replacements for existing can lights. Easy to install with mounting options if needed. Troughthe free app you can group lights and control them as if they were one. There is a option in the app for use as a timer to either turn the lights on or off after set period. Or, flash the lights to signal you , say for baking in the oven. With the optional HALO hub, you can control your lights even further, with Alexa or google home.

RL 4 in. White Bluetooth Smart Integrated LED Recessed Ceiling Light Retrofit Trim with Tunable CCT (2700K-5000K) I love this fixture because it lets you adjust the color from cool to warm light, something I find difficult to choose before l install a fixture. The bluetooth lets you dim the light from your phone/ipad using the app, (not recommended by a wall dimmer).  Also my husband had a great idea, to put the fixture on a timer, and on those mornings we have to get up before the sun, we could set the light to turn on with our alarm, then have it slowly increase the light, so it is not such a shock to wake up.

This White Bluetooth Smart LED recessed ceiling light came in excellent condition and works great! My son put it in in a matter of minutes, you do need to already have a recessed light that this can be used in its place. It’s easy to use the app to change the brightness and use the timer. It has made a nice difference in my kitchen, it looks so much brighter. And since it’s LED I don’t need to change the bulbs

The Eaton RL 4 in. White Integrated LED Recessed Ceiling Light Trim at Selectable CCT (2700K-5000K), Extra Brightness (915 Lumens), I used The kit for a remodel installation in the shower when replacing the tub with a shower kit. I used a stud finder make sure my hole cutter didn't cause any issue in the install. I used the friction clips to secure the light in an old light housing with a Keyless Plastic Lampholder running wiring to an exciting light. The die-cast construction being Air-tight was an excellent choice for the bathroom shower. I turned the light up bright since it is in a dark place and used the dimmer switch to dim the light if needed.

As I am new to this blue tooth technology stuff I will try it out in a hallway to replace an existing Halo down light I have in my hallway. Well made and looks great , I love the adjusted color that can be made from your phone. I don't believe you can dim this light on a wall dimmer but from your phone. Would work inside a shower area with rubber gasket included if need be. I highly recommend this.

Bright and easy upgrade for Halo ceiling-can downlights. Easy to install. App-select light color....
Bright and easy upgrade for Halo ceiling-can downlights. Easy to install. App-select light color. Halo now has many types and sizes of LED trims (combo LED and can face-ring). I asked for a 4-inch and somehow got a 4-inch and a 6-inch. They seem to be the same light with different mounting clips, so this review should apply to any in the series. The special feature of the "Bluetooth" models is, of course, you can control them from a smart-phone app. Bright/dim, redish/bluish, set timer, set random mode when you are away. This goes in a Halo-type ceiling can. These have been popular for decades, sturdy well-known light fixtures, and still a good choice for new installs. Incandescent light bulbs are going out of style. You want to upgrade to LED lighting. So efficient the payback on your electric bill is a year or less. While you can put a standard LED "globe" in a can, you really want a directional source to throw light down from the can. In warmer climates the 52 Watt difference in power is a significant reduction in room heat and cooling load. The 535 Lumen version throws more light than old 60/65 Watt incandescent bulbs. My sample measured 8 Watts, which agrees with the rated 7.6 Watts (my meter is not exact). Halo can should not be used near shower or bath without special "wet rated" trim. This trim is wet rated. And also much sleeker than my present large-lump shower lamp. This product mounts easily in any 5-inch or 6-inch Halo-type ceiling can. Screw-socket adapter eliminates live wire work. Run the green wire to existing screw or hole. Set the light color cool or warm before you shove the trim in place. If you change your mind, the trim comes out with a twist. When installed, this lamp "blinks" at turn-on. This means it wants to be "paired" with your smart-phone. They say to do this with the HaloHome app, which is easy to find in the app-store. While it said "Compatible with your device", my older Android just hung on "Connecting...", never giving me a "+" button to Add the new lamp. Based on comments on the app store, this system does work for others.

Nice fixture with a couple of important reservations mostly related to the marketing/product description... This is a well made unit that easily retrofits into a 4" can thanks to the supplied connector that screws into an existing bulb base and then the fixture is pushed into the can, held in place by the three friction fingers. Eaton also included a foam gasket to help provide an air seal - which is much appreciated for attic ceilings. Light beam is rather narrow - despite this being a recessed light, Eaton calls the bulb a "Very Wide Flood", but it also indicates that the spread is 93 degrees which I wouldn't really consider a wide flood, let alone a very wide flood. So expect a somewhat narrow wash of light suitable for focusing on a small area if used on a low ceiling. Despite the box stating the bulb is dimmable, it doesn't play well with the LED dimmer I have - at low light levels it flickers (presumably they mean dimmable using the Eaton wireless switch or app). The app is a bit slow to load and respond so you probably won't want to rely on it if you are adjusting brightness or color on a frequent basis. Every time you turn the light on it will flash twice until you pair it with the Eaton Home app installed on an iOS or Android device. Using the app you can adjust the light color and brightness. PROS: - Easy retrofit - Solid well made unit - Includes foam air seal gasket - Even light wash - Can adjust the color and brightness after install (using the app) CONS: - Not a "Very Wide Flood" beam of light at 93 degrees - Not compatible with a (LED) dimmer switch - requires use of app or wireless Eaton dimmer switch for dimming

4" bluetooth controlled recessed downlight. What a need idea you can control a with your phone without the need of a hub or a bridge device. A recessed CAN is required to install these which would be bought separately or in my case I had some 4" cans existing in the house. Just slide out the old can light and slide this into place after connecting the wires. It has a nice white trim. The color is adjustable via the app. The box says its approximately 600 lumens.

I wrote the below Review for the RL56, and it applies to the RL4 (they have the same installation instructions). Only differences ... the RL4 is 4" (not 5" to 6"), the hanging clips do not expand, and these use 8.2W to produce 598 Lumens (20% less Lumens). The app has been updated, and has not frozen since. Also, I initially installed it in the bathroom farthest from my router/Bluetooth Bridge. It paired instantly, but when I told Alexa to 'Turn On', half the time it would turn On, 25% of time Alexa would say 'OK', but it would not turn On, and 25% of time Alexa would tell me it was not responding. I ended up moving it to my Pantry (which is one less wall away), and it is working fine. Hopefully, with my second light in the middle, when I add a third, it will Mesh to the Bathroom. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you do not have WiFi, or thinking of 'cord-cutting', but still want a very smart lighting system; these light are a great option. They use 9.7W to produce 752 Lumens at 3000K (about 60W equivalent Incandescent). The free Halo Home app allows you to set Temperature (2700K to 5000K), Timers, Scenes, Groups, and Schedules. Once set up, the lights can be controlled by light switch (On/Off), by remote dimmer (via Halo Anyplace Dimmer [304665585]) and/or App. Also, if you add or have WiFi, they can be controlled by Alexa (via Halo Internet Bridge [304665514]. They are Bluetooth Mesh 4.0; unlike old Bluetooth, which is point to point, these communicate together. The more you add, the stronger your network. The Bluetooth responds instantaneously; no delay typical of router based smart lighting. The light quality and build are outstanding. They can be placed in covered wet locations (e.g. shower or porch). On the negative side ... I am unable to pair them with SmartThings. So, I have been controlling them via Anyplace Dimmer and Alexa. Their app is new and sometimes freezes, and I have to close it and reopen it. So, I only use it for set-up/settings. Basically, these give you the option of Bluetooth (with no monthly charge) and/or WiFi/router. If you are committed to WiFi/router, Home Depot sells the Halo Connect ZigBee based lights [302569279].

everything worked well except the retaining springs - the compression is too light. These retrofit quickly otherwise. The smart app allows many features to customize

This was perfect and the Bluetooth app was amazingly easy to integrate with my iPhone. Lights color change options are smooth and dimming is perfect. We are not running the lights on a dimmer switch but using the app you can control the brightness and the color. I used to own a lighting company so I’m critical about lighting products… these are awesome.

Loses memory with power drop or spike
I was away for a few weeks and I bought this because I program many light timers. The 4th week away I could not connect remotely to my lights. There was a power outage or spike in my neighborhood. I was able to check my home cameras but Halo bridge was no longer connected to the internet. No way to re-establish this remotely. All my light timers were off.

              App does not work
Read the reviews of the app before purchasing! This was my first smart light purchase, and I'm so disappointed. I didn't think to check the app to read reviews before buying a simple recessed light, but the app does not work. I cannot control anything about my light, and it's set to a glaring brightness and cold white light. HD should stop selling this product until they fix their app.
